Juliet POV

Jiel, I knew, was concerned. I had failed before. This human life was one to not waste. The sex, the drugs, the money. It was hard to stay with one man and keep it a secret. I knew I would only be on this Earth, in this body, for only a few more years at the most. Ciarra was not taking the hint that her and Andy needed to hook up. I knew that if I befriended her more and more then she would do my bidding. But turns out Angles are more stubborn than Demons are.

“Her heart!” Jiel yelled standing in my bedroom with a young girl tied to a chair.

He had his arms crossed, waiting for me to do what needed to be done. “You can’t possess someone who does not have the mark.” I exclaimed staring at her bloody, naked body.

There were open wounds littering her chest and face. She whimpered through the rope inside of her mouth. I could see that Jiel had done a very good job to tie her. Bruises and burns were already forming from her struggles. I sighed and rested my hands against the arm rests, leaning in close to her. She let tears fall from her face making streaks of blood and salt water in their path.

“Just do it,” Jiel sat on the edge of my bed with his arms still crossed.

I looked over to him and then back to the girl. “Don’t cry,” I lifted up a hand to her cheek. She flinched and I roughly wiped off her face. I brought my hand to my mouth and tasted. I moaned tasting her fear. I grabbed her face harshly making her cry harder. “Look at me!” I screamed. She did as I commanded. “Do you still believe in God?” I spit. She hesitated then shook her head. “Good,” with my other hand I reached into her chest and gripped at her heart.

Blood ran down my arm. She screamed through the ropes and tried hard to pull away. My grip tightened and eventually I felt a snap. I smiled and gently squeezed. Chanting everything Jiel had taught me. Her head flew back and she started to spaz. My hand kept its grip and I yelled louder. She finally stopped moving. I took my hand out of her chest. Bloody and hot. I backed away staring at her body.

“Go get another…” Jiel breathed, standing up and walking out.

I screamed at nothing and hit the dresser next to me with both hands. Blood smeared. I stood over the dresser breathing hard. “This isn’t going to work!” I yelled looking toward the door as Jiel drug a small boy by the hair. He threw him onto the bed.

“Stay.” Jiel demanded. The boy whimpered and did as he asked. “I knew you weren’t the one for this. I should be commanding that little bitch of an Angle.”

“The king is never wrong!” I yelled.

I was proud to have been chosen but maybe Jiel was right. I had only tormented, I never possessed or tortured. But the taste of blood was growing on me. I heard my phone ring on the dresser. I went to grab it when Jiel grabbed my arm hard.

“This always comes first. You will no longer indulge in the acts of humanization. You are a Demon, Juliet, act like one.”

I broke away and stared at the dead girl. I took a deep breath as I began to untie her. She shot up and took in a deep breath. Startled, I jumped back, as well as Jiel. Her eyes were black and her breathing was rapid. I looked to Jiel worried. He was smiling like a war had broken out. He grabbed onto my shoulders and hugged me.

“Congratulations, you’ve done it.” Jiel sighed along with me, "now you just have to burn the Angle, and you will win this war."
