She Moves the World

Revenge of the Wild Ones

CC and I were woken up by what sounded like a bomb going off outside. Putting on pants, CC instructed me to stay put for a few minutes while he went to talk to the guys.
Walking over to the closet for clothes, I got very nervous. I really didn’t want to be captured again, especially after last night. CC was right; I needed to take better care of myself, and if I couldn’t do it entirely I should allow those close to me to help me. I was being complacent, and knew it.
Finally dressed, I poked my head out of our bedroom; Ashley motions for me to come towards them.
As I was quickly towards the group of upset young men, I hear Andy and Jinxx discuss the loud noise.
“So, what the fuck was that?” Andy exclaimed, wincing at the pain he still had around his ribs.
“When it happened, I jetted out of our quarters and towards the factory; they have set up a demolition crew.”
I was confused; what for?
“Um,” I cleared me throat while the guys turned my direction, “What do we need one of those for, may haps?”
“There are too many BHR cities out there. The resistance is heavy back home, and is now moving further eastward,” Jinxx paused, “We are supposed to attack everyone who isn’t on our side.”
I gasped in horror.
“Children, too?” I asked, scared for the innocent beings that may not have a mom and dad at the end of the week.
“No, we have a refugee camp being set up for them in the northern wing, under the entry way stairs. But if only we could…”
Before Jinxx could say anything, the door to the facility was blown off by a group of BHR biotic men and women; three, maybe four tops. I growled at the intruders, and ran to get my fingerless gloves Doc had worked on for me; they were my Eezo containers.
Andy hobbled back to his bunking area swiftly to return with his sniper as Ashley, CC, Jake, and Jinxx gathered fire arms. As I was handed an automatic pistol, I became puzzled.
“Not all biotics use their powers baby,” CC spoke softly, “Hit them when they are recharging, too.”
We stood in a line, watching the scientists and other biotics line up around the facility to take positions.

The old doctor who had stolen me squeezed between the biotic intruders and into full view, only to smile done at me creepily.
“Violet,” he said in a mock-relief tone, “I have been so worried about you. I couldn’t believe that you would want to leave your new home.”
“Sorry Doc,” I snapped, “I had people I needed to see.”
“What are you doing here, Daniel?”
The voice boomed from behind us, revealing Doc Patterson.
“Ah,” the man spoke, “Philip; I see you are still up to your tricks. Why, your facility was difficult to find. Took us a few months to locate it, no thanks to the young folks who escaped.”
“You mean Violet and Andy,” Ashley shouted, spitting on the concrete we stood upon, “They have names you know.”
The old man smiled, but it was far from calming or soothing. He had an aura about him that never sat right with me from day one. Then it hit me: Doc and the old geezer knew each other.
“Hold on,” I hold me hands up at both old folks, “You two know one another?”
Doc shook his head yes as the other old man sighed.
“Violet, do you remember that brother you asked about in the picture on my office desk when you were 10; the one who I said ran away from home?”
“Yea,” I crossed me arms, eye brow raised in curiosity.
“This is him; he didn’t run away. My parents sent him to an asylum.”
The group of men behind me nodded in agreement, basically saying they now understood.
“You were always the favorite, Daniel,” the old man hissed, “But now, I will destroy your work and the ones who have helped you.”
Jinxx and Jake broke out into a fit of laugher leaving the biotics with the older man confused, looking at and conversing with one another.
“What, may I ask, is so funny?”
“You,” Jinxx finally took a breath, “You are going to destroy us with these guys. You do realize there are four of them, and multitudes of us right?”
“Yes,” the old man jeered, “But not all of you are biotics.”
Turning back around to face the guys, and to leave the old farts to their arguing, I realized Andy disappeared.
“Umm, where did Hop-a-long Andrew hobble off to?” I asked.
“He said he would be right back,” Ashley said smiling.
Ashley walked off towards the back of the facility, and finally I couldn’t see him anymore. It was like he vanished in thin air.
“I’m feeling twitchy,” Jake said calmly, holding the handle of his sword firmly, waiting for orders, “I know his army is not only made of biotic men and women. I know there has to be regular fighters.”

As the men finished their argument, I prepared myself for a fight. When the crazy guy was about to stage an attack, a show was fired from the back wall up in the rafters. The shot grazed the old man’s lab coat and shot one of the biotic men directly in the forehead.
“What was that,” shouted the old man, horrified and unsure of where the shot came from.
Two more of the biotic men with him fell to the ground, each having a four inch dagger sticking out of their backs. The final biotic standing backed up as far as he could, only to be shot at again. Before he could escape, the cloaked individual tackled him to the ground and restrained him. That individual, being Ashley.
“Good work, Ash,” I hollered as I walked towards the old man.
“Violet, what are you doing?”
“Something I should have done when we met.”
I shot a singularity field at the man, causing him to freeze where he stood, and float up six feet. I navigated his body back to a holding cell, and threw him in it. Hearing a pained grunt and an oof! gave me the satisfaction I desired.
“Holy shit,” Doc Patterson exclaimed, causing a shrill laughter from Andy, who in fact was returning from his position in the back of the room.
“You guys were something else,” I commented on Ash and Andy, “Now we need to get back to where I was captured. They had information we need; stuff we might want to help at a larger level. Because that guy is the least of our worries.”
We all looked at the old man in the cell as he griped his sides, groaning in pain from the fall he had taken.
“How do you know?” Jake shot at me, suddenly worried.
“Because,” I took pause, “There is a man in New York who has orchestrated everything we are fighting to stop. We have to head there.”
“Ok, everyone listen,” CC shouted at the two hundred people who had gathered in the factory facility, “This is our chance to show them we cannot be messed with. This is our time to shine; to show them that individuality makes us unique, and not to be taken lightly. Let us show them you we are made of!”
Cheers from men, women, teens and children alike rang out through the underground bunker.
“It is time to show them what the Wild One can do!”
CC smiled wildly, making me fall in love with him further.
We were ready.

Notes

Sorry so short; the next chapter I am working on is much longer in comparison.
