That Was on Purpose ~ Andy Biersack *Completed

Chapter Sixteen ~ Okay

--Ashley's POV--

Ring.

Ring.

Ring.

Ring...

"Hello?" Andy's voice sounded over the phone.

"Andy, it's Ashley..." I said, watching Tessa with a worried frown.

"Ash...Everything okay?"

"Tessa's here...she's having nightmares and she just...she won't stop calling for you, Andy." I said, my voice getting quieter. "She really needs you..." She was afraid. Afraid of me, of life, of everything. "Did you hurt her?!" Andy asked, his tone like murder. "No, she just had some nightmares. Can you come over?" I asked, taking note of the worry and anger in his voice. "Yeah..." He sighed. I could picture him now with a cigarette between his lips as he spoke. "I'll be right there just...don't touch her. But don't leave her alone, either. Keep talking to her." He said. It occurred to me that this must happen often in their house. Andy must be used to it, or perhaps not. I pictured them up late at night, Tessa's face full of tears while Andy held her wrists and tried to comfort her. I wondered if it was normal for them. I quickly remembered it was my responsibility to keep Tessa stable until Andy got here, and I bent down slightly to see her. "Tessa...It's okay...You're okay..." I whispered. "Andy's coming." She was almost like a small puppy separated from it's mother for the first time. She looked as if she may be sick. I went to hug her, forgetting Andy's words, and to my surprise, she flinched.

She flinched. At my touch. Like I was going to..hurt her.

"T-Tessa..." I said softly. "I'm not gonna hurt you..." She looked up at me, her eyes red and glassed over. Every breath she took was shaking and unsteady. Her mouth was slightly open as she pitifully met my eyes. She released a shaking exhale before closing her mouth and returning to her bent over position.
"Ashley?" A voice from behind me said. At first, I thought it was Andy, but when I turned around, I saw Michael's lean figure standing there. "Michael..." I said quietly. "Your mom's having a rough night, why don't you go back to bed okay?" I said. "Michael it's okay honey..." Tessa said, her voice full of tears and sobs. Michael didn't listen. He ran into the hall and I heard a door slam. I didn't know what to do. I needed Andy here, and fast.

--Andy's POV--

I parked my car in the driveway and stumbled getting out of the car, trying toget inside as fast as possible. I didn't even knock, I just came in. I followed Ashley's voice downt he hall and...to the left.

--Ashley's POV--

Just as I was about to break, Andy came in. He was breathing quickly, and as soon as he saw her he changed. "Here," he said hushedly. "Here, here, let me..." He slowly walked toward the bed and sat next to her, picking her up and bringing her onto his lap like a baby. She flinched and squirmed at first, but I heard her whisper a small, "Andy..." I sat awkwardly to the side and watched what he did. His hand petted her hair while he whispered quietly in her ear. She nuzzled into his shirt and slowly extended her arms, wrapping them around him.

Then and there, everything was forgotten. It was her and him. And that was okay. He made her feel better and she brought out the good in him. I watched as within minutes, her fear and sadness turned to soft snores, and occasional whimper or cry when she caught herself falling asleep. "Hey," Andy whispered quietly to me. "Where's Michael?" I tensed. "I think he locked himself in the bathroom." I whispered back. Andy sunk. He knew he couldn't leave Tessa, but he wanted to check on his son. "Can you talk to him for me?" He whispered. "Make sure he's okay." I nodded, biting my lip.

--Andy's POV--

I looked down at Tessa's pale face. The tip of her nose was pink and her eyes were red, her eyelashes dark and damp from tears. "Tessa..." I whispered to her, stroking her cheek. This was the touch I wanted. This was it. "I love you..." She snored softly in her sleep. I ran my hands through her hair as Ashley got up to talk to Michael.

I was worried about Michael. There were a lot of changes going on, and I felt like we haven't been there for him. I haven't been there.

--Ashley's POV--

"Michael," I said, knocking on the door. I could see light pouring in from the room, but the door was locked. "Michael, open up." He didn't say anything, but I heard his breathing. "Michael, come on. Can we just talk?" I knocked again. "Go away." He mumbled. I chuckled. "Oh come on, let me in." I knew he was in there. He was Andy's kid; stubborn as a mule. "Look..." I said, sitting on the ground outside the door. "I know things have been hectic these past months...and I know you haven't always had someone there for you, but things are gonna be better soon...You're mom is just stressed, and I mean, who wouldn't be? It's just...it's okay to be hurting, and it's okay to feel alone or misunderstood or maybe even not cared for. Everyone feels like that at one point. You just have to know that it's never true; you are always cared for and wanted and valued and we are always here for you." I finished. "So, if you come out now...maybe we could work out some bass lessons or something?" Suddenly, I felt as the door behind me dissapeared. I turned around to see Michael's face staring at mine, his cheeks a little puffy and his nose a little red.
"Okay," He said.

"That sounds...okay."
