Be the Death of Me

Epilogue

Olivia’s POV:
“Ashley! Did you remember to drop Natalie at gymnastics?” I call, rummaging around in my closet.
“Well, she isn’t here so she must be there,” he replied from somewhere in our large house.
I roll my eyes at his obvious sarcasm, strongly reconsidering whether we should’ve gotten an intercom system put in. I mean, we usually fair by simply yelling each other’s names, but being able to call him would just act as another way to annoy him, which let’s face it, even after eight years of marriage, I never get tired of.
“Babe, when is Conner coming home again?” Comes my husband’s voice once again.
I sigh and quickly rack my rather scattered brain for that information before replying. “He’s staying over at Andy and Rose’s, remember? Xavier really likes playing with Conner, but personally, I think Conner just has a crush on Avery,” I added with a smirk. My little boy was growing up so fast.
Ash walks into our master bedroom, plopping down on the bed and lets out a chuckle, “already becoming a player! That’s my boy!” He beams proudly, although it quickly fades and he sighs, “Andy will not be happy. Hell, he’ll fucking kill me if Conner ever touches his little girl.”
I giggle at his horror-struck reaction and rub his lower back gently, “I think you can relate though. I mean, just imagine when Nat starts dating. I pity whoever she ends up with,” I joke, making my husband let out a groan.
He covers his face with his hands, “let’s not talk about that now. You’ll give me a hernia, woman.”
I laugh before returning to packing; we’re leaving for Hawaii in a day, and we have yet to pack anything. Which leaves me to deal with the packing while the children remain occupied and Ashley does his best to annoy the hell out of me. Sounds about right.
Conner Jackson Purdy was brought into our lives a year after we started dating again. Which was quickly followed by an engagement. We spent a whole two years simply enjoying life before I became pregnant with our little girl, Natalie Quinn Purdy. Ashley was rather hesitant at the idea of having a little girl in the picture, but after many reassuring conversations with his best friend, Andy, and a couple of mild threats from a very pregnant me, he dove right into the situation and hasn’t looked back.
Now it is clear that he worships his daughter and loves her to death. And I know it’s wrong for parents to pick a favourite child, but I think little Nat wins out on Ash’s heart. Even though she’s only six now, he still goes out of his way to play with her and he has never once missed a gymnastic performance. He is so dedicated to her that he even flew out to see her recital in the middle of tour, and I know it hits her the hardest whenever he has to work. She understands of course, but she still misses her Daddy.
Black Veil Brides hasn’t stopped recording or touring at all. Sure they’ve slowed down, especially when one of the members gets married or has a new baby, but they still make the time to perform for their dedicated fans. Currently, they’re keeping things slow since Jinxx and Sammi just got married… Again.
And that seemed like the perfect opportunity to plan a trip to Hawaii.
For our honeymoon, while Andy and Rose watched baby Conner, Ash and I spent a magical two weeks relaxing in Maui. We immediately fell in love with everything about it and decided to quickly go back with our children. So what if they’re young, my kids are incredibly bright for their age.
Conner studies at a grade nine level and is only in grade three. He’s quite the chatterbox and loves to play soccer and baseball. He was also born with a head of dirty blonde hair, and deep brown eyes. My lovely little girl, Natalie is quite the stunner already with a head of dark hair and baby blue eyes. Rose and I both already predict that she’ll be quite the heart breaker when she gets older, much to Ashley’s annoyance. That girl has no spine; she loves to do flips and cartwheels and simply adores gymnastics. Her teachers are quite impressed with her already and she’s already in competition. Natalie claims that she wants to go to Juilliard when she’s older for dance just like her Aunty Rosie. Personally, I’m not sure how her father would cope with her being on the other-side of the country – I mean he dealt with me being there, but I think it’s different for it to be his baby girl.
Me, I’m busy as ever with work and such. After graduating from Harvard at the top of my class, I went straight into work, the field of corporate law calling to me, and not just the salary. I generally love going to work each day only, it seems I may be off for quite some time in the near future…
“Liv, have you heard anything from the doctor?”
I huff, standing up and turning to look at Ashley’s form as he reclines on our messy bed, “for the last time, no. I told you I don’t want to know the gender of the baby! I mean, we’ve survived both types, so we should be fine.”
He nods warily, “I know, but I’m still hoping for another boy. I don’t want to go through having another little girl to give away at the alter,” he adds dryly, and I shake my head at him.
“Come here,” I laugh softly and he complies, moving into my embrace. “You have nothing to worry about, baby. If you really want to know, then I guess we can find out, all right? But it is still rather early…”
He nods, resting his head on my shoulder as I stroke his hair soothingly. “I think it will make it easier, sorting out the old baby clothes and painting the room.”
I smile, “then that’s what we’ll do.”
He tucks a strand of hair behind me ear affectionately, “I love you, Olivia,” he murmurs, kissing the top of my head adoringly.
I melt against his warm touch, “I love you Ashley. Thank you for not giving up on me,” I whisper, my eyes suddenly watering.
He hushes me quickly, “shh, baby, no tears.”
“It’s the stupid hormones,” I mutter, quickly wiping back my tears to which he laughs.
“Whatever you say, babe. Just keep my little girl safe in there, alright?”
“What makes you say it’s a girl?” I ponder aloud, glancing up at him.
He shrugs, “just a feeling.”
I raise my eyebrows mockingly, “how about we make a wager on this one?”
He smirks, “you’re on, Livvy.”
“I hate to say this now, but, pay up,” he whispers next to me, the light pink bundle in his arms moving slightly.
I roll my eyes, feeling incredibly exhausted after sixteen hours of labour. “Are you really going to make me give you money for a bet on the same day that our daughter was born?”
He gives me a look, “what do you really think? Besides, you would’ve made me pay!”
I scowl but swat his hands away, “later. When we’re home. I can’t wait to take her home.” I gush, glancing over at the newest addition to the family.
He chuckles and presses his lips first to the baby’s head, and then to my temple. “We haven’t decided on a name yet,” he murmurs.
I nod, “I like your idea for the first name, it suits her.”
“Yeah, I think yours can be her middle name.”
I nod in agreement and he hands her over to me as he rushes off to fill out her birth certificate.
I smile down at the gurgling baby in my arms, remembering when this was Conner and Natalie as well.
Ashley returns quicker then I imagined, followed by our two eager children. They pepper my face with kisses and gaze curiously at their little sister.
“What’s her name, Momma?” Nat whispers rather loudly in my ear and I smile.
Ash answers his daughter’s question, gazing down adoringly at our happy little family, “Jessica Anastasia Purdy.”

Notes

That is officially it guys.
I must say, while at first I loved this story to death, I got tired quite quickly. However after rethinking a plot I re-fell back in love with it once again! I spent a lot of time on this chapter, and am very excited to unveil it.

I am done yet another story that has taken me a whopping ten months to complete, and I would honestly like to thank you guys for reading, voting, commenting and subscribing. It warms my heart and while the early chapters really sucked, I think the last couple ones were a helluva lot better.
So enjoy, and I may even rewrite the first chapters sometime soon :)

Love you all
