I get back from Denny's and place the bags of food on the kitchen counter. It's about 6:20am right now and Juliet's in the shower. I know because she's singing. Her voice is truly beautiful and should have won The Voice, but runner up is pretty awesome too. I make out some of the lyrics to find she's singing Roxanne. Scarlet walks out of the washroom and to the couch. She glancees over at the kitchen to realize I'm back. She looks back down at the ground and fiddles with her thumbs. I sit next to her, hoping she'll say something.

"You said you'd be back in ten minutes." she says. I did? Oh yeah I did say that. Shit.

"I know, I'm so sorry. But I brought breakfast." I tell her. She gets up and walks over to the food. She takes a look into the bag and closes it. She takes an apple from the fridge instead and sits back on the couch.

"Sorry, I like apples more, they're a better fit for me." she says. If you aren't sure, she's making a reference back to Oli, her boyfriend. She's trying to make me jealous and feel bad. It really doesn't affect me seeing I got farther with her than he did. Plus she's gonna need somewhere to stay now that her house is burned down.

"I'm sorry. I was listening to the radio and it said that a house got burned down this morning near that diner we first met at. I was worried."

"What was the address?"

"64 Newton Avenue, why?"

"Because that's my house. Did anyone get hurt?"

"I'm not sure, I'll turn on the news." I say picking up the remote and turning on the television.

"Two dead bodies were found within the house. After DNA tests, the dead bodies were found to be Jarod and Sandra Kanes." The News Reporter announced and I turned the TV off. Tears poured down Scar's face. I rush to her and hold her tightly in my arms.

"Finally." she manages to say through sobs.

"You're safe now." she stops crying and looks up into my eyes and smiles, she kisses my cheek and gets up.

"I'm gonna go get ready for school." she says, taking her stuff to the bathroom. Jules walks out and into the living room.

"What's gotten into her?" asks Juliet.

"She's safe now. Her parents were just found dead, burned alive in their home." I say with no emotion.

"As long as she's safe, it's all good. Where's she gonna stay for the time being?"

"I'm not sure."

"Well let her know she can always stay here. Last night when you kept going out to smoke, I got to know Scarlet, she's pretty awesome. So she's cool to stay. Oh did you know how beautiful her singing voice is? You should put her in the school musical."

"I'll ask her about it. This year the play is about a new student coming to school and he's really shy, especially around girls. Then he meets this girl named Maya and they fall in love even though she has a boyfriend. In the end, Maya breaks up with her boyfriend and goes for the new kid."

"You got names for the male lead roles?"

"Boyfriend's name is Ryan, and the new kid's name is Johnnie."

"Well have fun, I'm gonna go get ready for work." Juliet says entering our room.

I wait twenty minutes watching cartoons and Scar comes out in a dark purple dress, brown combat boots and a smile.

"You look." I start.

"I know. Let's go."
