Just The Boy Next Door

Coming Home Again

~13~

I remembered what I had said about the mall, but as the traffic became more and more hectic, I pulled into the Walmart parking lot a few minutes from my house. Looking over at Andy, he had been crying.

"Oh, honey," I put my hand on his, "You okay?"

As quick as lightning, the frazzled young man took me in his arms and hugged me tightly, small sobs escaping his mouth.

"I love you," he said at last, sniffling up the last of the tears, "I hated that, and I hate that woman. I am so sorry both of you endure that."
"Dud, don't worry about me," Selena waved it off, smiling, "Worry about your girlfriend; she gets the tough shit."

Andy looked up at me, his eyes glassy and red from crying. I hated seeing him like this.

"I think if we sit tight for a minute, we will be able to return to the house fine." I was being positive as I looked at Andy.
"I hope so," he sighed, "I feel like a complete asshole for making a scene in front of your entire family, though."
"Just be glad one of my grandmas weren't there," I chuckled and looked at Selena, "Grandma Martenson would have tore your mom a new one."
"Ha, yea," Selena giggled, "That is why my mom is rarely invited over to her house, and that is her mother for fuck sake!"

I had decided to drive back home; it had been about thirty minutes and I was sure the dust was settled, so to speak. Andy remained quiet, but Selena kept trying to make him cheer up, succeeding as we entered back into the neighborhood.

Pulling back into the driveway, I felt nothing but tension leave my small sedan. Driving around my hometown was our attempt at calming Andy down, just in case she was there when we returned. He and Selena seemed to be becoming fast friends, which made me smile. She needed real friends in her life, not these people her mother pushed her to be friends with, either from high school or Harvard.

"I'm sorry about all of that, again, Andy," Selena spoke softly, "I should have said something."
"Lena, how could you have stopped that shit, though?" I looked at her in the rear view mirror, "She is fucking relentless; she does this every damned holiday!"

Andy just sat in silence, staring outside of the car until i cut of the ignition.

"Before we go back inside, I just want to know that the two of you will be more careful when it comes to her," He turned to me and placed a hand on my thigh, "Baby girl, I know she is your aunt, but if she is at any other family events that I am at, we need to get away as soon as possible. That, and I kind of figured you didn't want to bail me out of jail."

Finally, Andy turned back to look at Selena.

"And you, fakey prep chick," he said as she blushed, "Please, for yourself if not for us, be yourself. Especially for your sanity!"

Nodding, I watched as Selena looked down at her outfit and grimaced.

Getting out of the car, I said a silent prayer that the bitch of Metro Richmond had left. My uncle Tom was standing on the front porch with my dad and Mark, smoking a stogie and laughing at a story he was telling. Andy and I, too, lit cigarettes and listened to the three of them.

"... when she walked up to me after that, she was more than outraged. She huffed at me and said, 'Thomas, how in God's name could you let that punked out good for nothing talk to me that way?'" My uncle took a puff and blew smoke into the air, "I told her she was a bitch every holiday function we have been invited to and that is was about time she was put in her place."

Andy took a drag off of his cig, as did I, and we stood in the front yard and listened a few minutes longer.

"She then demanded I take her home. You should have seen the look on her face when I gave her a twenty and the number to the cab company I used to use to get home from the bar," He chuckled heavily, "I have never seen anyone so furious in all my life, and I have bee married to her for 24 years."

Walking up to her dad finally, Selena wrapped her arms around him and squeezed tightly. Kissing his daughter on the top of her head, the two of them smiled at each other. I held on to Andy's hand as he began to chat with the three men who took up the porch space for a few minutes about how long it took for him to calm down, and how embarrassed he was for causing so much grief for my family.

"Well, son," Tom placed a hand on his shoulder, "I have new for everyone but I was waiting for the three of you to return."

He opened and held the door for us and sighed heavily.
"Here goes nothing; time to get the show on the road."

I looked at my cousin who was experiencing equal amounts of confusion.

"Well, shit; what in the hell does he mean by that?" I whispered in her direction.
"I guess we are about to find out." Selena nodded in the direction of her father.

Re-entering the house had been much easier for Andy this time around; relatives, young and old, kept telling him he was quite sweet for sticking up for me the way he did, and Liana and Krys dubbed him a bad-ass, making him giggled. He smiled brightly and my heart melted, as it always did. There was peace at last without her in the house, and we could all enjoy time together as a family, again.

But Uncle Tom's news we going to temporarily interfere with that.

"Family," he sighed nervously as Selena move in to hold his hand for confidence, "Can I have your attention for just a moment. As you know, Maggie and I have been on the rocks for the past ten years. She has moved out of our bedroom now and to the spare bedroom down the hall."

He stopped and looked at my parents.

"Truthfully, I am asking her for a divorce."

It was about damned time.

"Maggie has ignored every verbal mention of this and about counselling, the subject of divorce I mean., until today. She said she wanted one last 'family outting' before the proceedings began, but honestly I can't do this anymore, to myself or my little girl. The divorce paperwork should be finalized by Christmas day."

Selena smiled and cried at the same time; I didn't know it was possible to feel happiness and sadness for someone at the same time, but I was feeling those for her. It hurt my heart to see her so torn.

"Maggie with be moving out after Christmas brunch, and Selena is welcome to stay with me. I do believe, however, Maggie will try to drain me dry, of both my money and my daughter."

He smiled as a tear trickled down his face.

"I can have my little rebel girl back again," he wiped the long tear away, "She can be herself."

Moments later, Selena jumped into my uncle's arms, hugging him and smiling brightly. It felt good knowing I would have the cousin I knew and loved back.

Friday was uneventful, especially after the Mag attack; so much so that the two of us, Andy and I, just lounged around for most of the day, in our pajamas and watching television. Snuggies, slipped and hot chocolate was what most of the day, and night, consisted of. After long, we fell asleep on the couch and were covered with the large blanket my mom had had folded on the back of it.

Saturday came, beautiful and bright; it was Christmas Eve. The two of us agreed to attend church with my family that night before this week even started. I had purchased a new red Lolita style dress for the occasion, while Andy stuck with his traditional black slacks, black dress shirt, and a red tie for a splash of color. We looked like something as smooshed a Cindy Lauper and Duran Duran music video together, but we felt a bit normal in our own skins, even among those who were actually normal. Either way, my mom was thrilled we would be there at all.

Halfway to my childhood parish, Andy began to get antsy.

"So," he squirmed, "um, I haven't been to a church service since I was nine. I am afraid I will burst into flames."
"You aren't satanic, retard," I cackled loudly, making him smile, "Besides, if we can behave ourselves for the time being, we really don't have much to worry about."

I turned on the road that lead to the church and sighed; to be honest, I hadn't been to church in years, either.

"Wait a second," he turned his head towards me, "what do you mean by that?"

The looked on his face was playful with a hint of trouble. I gulped silently as I pulled into a parking space farthest from the front door.

"Oh, you know," I shrugged, "We can't make out in the sanctuary like we can during guitar class at school."

Good thing we made it early and the parking lot was still empty, because otherwise we would have been late; very late.

As soon as the car was in park, Andy's lips were on mine. One hand lay on my thigh while the other was placed softly on the back of my head, scrunching my tufts of hair. The kiss was intense; so intense it felt as thought the heat in the car rose a few degrees.

That was when the hand on my thigh got a sense of adventure and decided to inch inward.

"Andy," I was suddenly paranoid, "We are in a church parking lot..."
"Be glad we aren't in the church," he growled in arousal, "I would have to bend you over a church pew."

His mouth moved to suckle the nape of my neck as the set of fingers on his southern most hand moved my panties aside. A small moan escaped his occupied lips, his eyes shooting open and gazed his beautiful pools of blue into mine. Their intensity was mesmerizing and, at this point, very dangerous.

Flicking my top lip with his tongue, his eyes continued to dig into my soul, gauging how I felt as a finger began to rubbed my now naked southern set of lips. Wetness set in soon enough as my face began to get hot due to the touch of his hands. Slowly, a finger enter me, follow by another. Moving them in and out slowly, the wetness and sensation started to build rapidly. Closing my eyes, I focused solely on the moment and tried to forget we were waiting on my family to arrive at the church. As I attempted to ride my mind of this wave of paranoia, the speed of his fingers picked up and drench the seat of my sedan with my juices.

"When we get back to the house, you can return the favor," he whispered into my ear seductively, stopping to nibble slightly on the lobe, driving me wild.

Finally having came, fifteen minutes of heavy petting later, we began regaining our composure. Andy, still aroused and very touchy feely, was working on getting an extremely stubborn hard on to go down. Him wearing skin tight slacks made the process hard, for sure. I cleaned up my legs and car seat swiftly, fixing my hair and checking for hickeys. Presentable yet again, the two of us exited the car and saw my family had just pulled into the complex.

I was more than excited to experience such a calm and relaxing night with my loved ones. Reaching the front door to the narthex of the church, Andy grabbed my wrist.

"DJ?" he said softly/
"Yea, baby?"
"I love you," he smiled, "You are the most precious gift I could have ever received, and I am proud of you for everything you have done, and will do."

The smiled was contagious as it was now on my face, as well.

"I love you, too, rebel of mine," I paused and looked at him, puzzled, "Where did that come from?"
"Just have been thinking, is all."

Nodding, I figured there was more to it.
But I could always figure out later.

@IzzieDeadnow

Thank you. Naomi was actually him through and through. Some of her sayings and everything, minus the black/asian race. He was obsessed with a Jpop singer that was black and asian though, which why I chose that. I miss him, but he will always be with me.

I love the story so much, and I'm sorry for your loss @HisPorcelainDoll.
