The Fallen and the Angel

Chapter 2

I couldn’t believe it. I was completely in shock as I told the driver the address to my hotel. How could I have been so stupid! How did I not recognize him?! Not only was he the singer of my FAVORITE band, but he is also the one responsible for saving my life! Was I in that much subconscious shock that I didn’t realize who it was? And oh my GOSH I was such a jerk too!

Wait, why was he here, in New York, and not in L.A., where he lived?
I thought about that last question the entire ride to the hotel, trying to think of a logical explanation, and still coming up with nothing as I paid the driver. I gave him a big tip; I felt bad for making him wait even though it’s his job, but whatever.

I entered the lobby and almost hit the floor. He was in the hotel. At the check-in desk. What, THE fuck.

I got the idea that maybe this was a crazy look-alike that was stalking me and was planning to kill me, but then came to my senses and realized that was completely absurd.

I rushed past, hoping he wouldn’t see me. I sighed at my success as I pushed the elevator button and walked in.

As I went into my bag for a bottle of water, I realized that my iPod was missing. FUCK! I know I had it with me when I walked in, so it had to be in the lobby. Where he was. Fantastic.

The elevator dinged when it reached my floor. “Yeah, yeah.” I said with a sour face as I pushed the ground floor button.

I exited the elevator, and when I was sure the coast was clear, I approached the front desk.

“Excuse me, no one has happened to find a green iPod, have they?” I asked the lady behind the counter.

As she was about to answer, someone cleared their throat behind me and I felt a tap on my shoulder. Innocently, I turned around and almost yelped. Now that I knew who he was, he seemed all the more appealing.

“Looking for this?” he said with a half-smile. How in the hell did he know it happened to be mine?

“Uh, yeah,” I said without making eye contact, even though I knew he was looking directly into mine. “I was, actually.” I paused for a brief second, and said “How did you know it was mine, exactly?”

“When I saw you at the cab, you were holding it in your hand.” He laughed. “And by the way, your taste in music is quite excellent.” He added as he took my hand (eep!) and placed my iPod into it.

“Thanks, And- Wait. You went through my music?” I asked as I raised an eyebrow.
He mimicked me when he asked “You DO know who I am?”

“That isn’t answering my question. And yes, I do.” My answer seemed to have no effect on him; he kept the same raised eyebrow- face instead of answering, so I simply turned and headed toward the elevator again, hopeful for this awkward moment to end. He apparently had followed me, and very silently might I add, because when the doors to the elevator closed and I turned around, he was IN the elevator. I was an incident short from having a full blown heart attack tonight.

“Jesus CHRIST!” I exclaimed. This only seemed to amuse him.

“Yes, I went through your music. Considering the amount of Black Veil Brides music you have, and the fact you do know who I am, I can’t help but wonder, you’re not phased at all that I’m standing right here with you?”

“A bit conceded, no?” I said, trying to avoid the question. Because the truth was, I was dying on the inside.

“Hmmm,” he replied, “Now you’re not answering my question.” he finished with a playful smile.

The elevator dinged and the doors opened.

“No, I’m not.” I lied. “Now, if you’ll excuse me.” I said as I walked passed him.

“You know, this is the floor I’m staying on too, right?”

I rolled my eyes and kept walking. Even though he couldn’t see the attitude on my face with my back to him now, I still felt like I needed to act like I didn’t care so I didn’t breakdown in a full-blown 21 year old fangirl episode right there. “Of course it is.” I snapped as I headed down the carpeted hallway.

“Wait.” He demanded as shoved my key into the lock.

“What.” I replied as he took my arm and faced me toward him. Can I add that my heart leapt out of my chest?

“You may not like me, and you may very well have your reasons; I am not perfect. However, and this may be weird because we met what, an hour ago? There’s something about you that I’m drawn to. I don’t know if it’s the respect I have for you being level headed or what.”

“Hmm. And…?” I lead him on, liking where this was going quite a lot.
“I was wondering… how against would you be with the idea of showing me around the city? Even though I’ve been before, I’ve never really gotten to see New York in all its glory.”
