Disney Princess Remix

Cinderella

-Andy's POV-

"Are you ready, son?" my father, the king, asked me the night before the giant gala in which I would find my future bride.
"I-I think so," I stuttered, unsure of the answer to that question. He put a hand on my shoulder.
"Well, be confident. Believe in yourself and embrace the unknown. I'm positive everything will be perfect," he told me, and I nodded before heading off to bed. Though as I lie awake tossing and turning, I knew that it wouldn't be perfect. Why? Because Prince freaking Charming is gay, that's why. No one else knew but my personal butler, Jinxx. When I was a child, I would always play games with the servant's children because I had no siblings. As we grew older, we grew apart in our status and place in the castle. But all that grew on the inside were my feelings for one in particular. Ashley. Ashley Purdy, that one kitchen boy. A few years ago, I realized that I had a crush. I freaked out, this couldn't be possible. I was the prince, responsible for finding a queen, this wasn't allowed or part of the plan. One night, as I cried myself to sleep over this problem, I wept too loudly, and Jinxx came to see if I was alright. I spilled the truth, there was no point in lying when one had tears running down their face. He was sworn to secrecy and tried to help me, as well. My love for Ashley only grew. Even if he was female, there was still no chance of anything ever happening. I fell into a restless sleep, dreaming of him for the last time before I belonged to someone else.

-Ashley's POV-

It was past midnight and we were still preparing the food for the ball tomorrow night. My heart sank at the mere thought of it happening, when Andy would choose a girl to be queen. I didn't dare tell a soul, but I loved him. I spent time with him as a kid. I took care of him when he was sick. He was so kind, so sweet, so innocent, yet so fair. He would make an amazing king. Too bad I could never rule beside him. It wasn't the position in the castle I was after, it was his heart. But even if I was a girl, this kind of thing, a prince marrying a servant, was impossible. All of a sudden, he walked in.
"P-prince Andy, you should be in bed!" I gasped. "You need your rest for the big night!" Everyone else kept working, assuming that I would handle the situation because I had first spoken up. He shook his head.
"I can't, I'm too nervous."
"Why did you come down here?" I couldn't help but ask. He shrugged.
"I don't know, you're my only real friend. By the way, are you coming tomorrow night?"
"I'm just a servant, I'm not invited."
"Come on, you know we're friends, you're totally invited!" Well, I'd always considered it that way, but never thought it was proper enough to be true. But he invited me!
"Really?!"
"Of course!"
"Thank you so much! But Andy, you should be in bed. Here, drink this herbal tea, it'll help you sleep," I advised, handing a warm mug to him.
"Thanks." I had the feeling he wanted to say something more to me, but the moment passed and he returned upstairs. I sighed in longing.

-Andy's POV-

Thankfully, that stuff Ashley gave me worked, I arose well rested. The day was boring, spent practicing for tonight. I was almost relieved when the time came it was so tedious. Yada yada yada, done this a million times in practice, I groaned internally when the trumpets sounded and I walked into the ballroom. I plastered a fake smile on my face. I would choose a girl to dance with, and the dance would begin. It was a switching partners one, so everyone would dance with everyone. I chose a blonde girl in a huge, poofy, sparkly blue dress to start. The point was that you would talk to people while dancing, and I'll admit, she seemed interesting enough. Though the fact that her shoes were made out of glass was definitely strange, not to mention a safety hazard. As we switched for the last time, I found myself face to face with Ashley.
"I'm sorry," he gasped when I twirled him as part of the routine. "I can switch with someone, if you want."
"It's fine," I laughed. Way more than fine, this was what I wanted. "It's more fun, anyway." Finally, a smile! And two more laughs until the dance changed. As the night progressed, I was supposed to take one girl outside to talk to her alone and see if she was the one. But I found that I couldn't. It was now or never. What did I have to lose?
"Hey, Ashley, can I talk to you for a second outside?" I asked him quietly. He nodded.
"Sure," he said, sounding kind of confused and worried. "What's wrong?" He asked when we were alone.

-Ashley's POV-

"Look, Ashley, I-I can't choose some girl I hardly even know to be queen and get married to." That was a relief.
"If there was something I could do to help, I would do it," I told him. He pierced my soul with those gorgeous blue eyes when he stared at me.
"That's the thing, Ashley. You can help." He took a step towards me.
"What? How?" Less than a foot of distance now. Oh god, he's holding my hand! I squealed internally.
"You can't tell unless the feeling is mutual. I love you, Ashley." Oh god, was I dreaming? I hugged him, holding him tight and close like I'd wanted to for so many years now.
"I love you, too, Andy." Before I knew it, his lips were on mine. He parted them to make it a real kiss, one that I've craved for so long. "What does this mean?" I asked afterward.
"It means," he responded. "That I choose you. You're my one and only, Ashley." I turned to see Jinxx in the doorway, watching.
"Has the prince found his match?" Andy smiled.
"Yes." Jinxx nodded and went indoors to inform the king of the news. I was freaking out on the inside. This couldn't be real. This wasn't happening. But it was. My dreams were coming true. However, the king's face fell when he saw Andy and I walking down the ballroom floor, arms linked. He stood up.
"I don't know what kind of game you're playing, but it's not a funny one."
"It's not a game, dad. I love Ashley, I choose him," Andy replied. The king sat back down, rubbing his forehead.
"I suppose if this is what you and Ashley want, Andy. You're practically king now. I trust you." A smile burst out on my face, and Andy kissed me passionately.
"I can't wait till the wedding," I whispered afterward.
