The Fallen One

Shopping and Freedoms

Andy's POV: I keep having this dream. I've been having the same dream for months now, and I think it's finally becoming reality. Part of me says that it's happening anyway. The other part of me says something completely different. I want it to be true though.
I want Lexi to be the Saviour of the Fallen Angels. I want nothing more than to be taken to a place where we don't have to fear anything. Where we can live our lives without the stress of someone outing us to the public. Where we don't have to worry about being treated like the scum of the Earth simply for how we act or dress or what we listen to. What we believe...
Lexi has many of the features of the girl I keep seeing in my dream, but at the same time she's quite different. Well, she is different than the rest of us Fallen Angels. For example, we lose our Heavenly innocence when we fall, yet she's kept hers. Another is her wings. We all have the same black, leathery wings, but hers have remained those of an Angel, only they are black with cobalt blue tips.
I'm dragged out of my thoughts when I hear Ash ask me, "You ready to go, man? We're going shopping with Lexi."
"Who's all going?" I ask him.
"Just Lexi, you, and me," he replies.
I nod, then get up from my seat and head out with them to the SUV we rented to get around town in.
Ashley drives to the mall here and we head to Spencer's first. We pick out some shirts and skirts for Lexi, then have her try them on. Ashley tells her his opinion, while I look at different shoes for her.
There's a pair of black, spiked heels and a pair of studded boots there that I think would look pretty good on her. They would at least be better than those damn sandals she came here in, so I ask what size she wears, then go up and pay for them.
I then head back to the fitting room with the boots in hand and pass them to her.
"Put those on and ditch the sandals," I say quietly through the door.
"Umm...Alright. Thanks," she says, and when she comes out this time, she has the boots on, the outfit she came here in, and an armful of clothes. We then pick out some jewelry for her to wear and check out.
When we're done, we head out to Hot Topic and pick out some skinny jeans, undergarments, and tank tops for her. We have her try them on and pick out some accessories for her as well. Once everything's taken care of though, we check out and head out to the next place. The food court.
"What are we doing here?" Lexi asked, sounding a little nervous.
"We still have to eat, despite what we are," Ash answers, his voice a whisper so only she and I can hear him.
I look over at her, and see she's biting her lip. She actually almost looks scared as she looks around the large, open area. Is this all so new to her? Has she never been to a mall, or what? I'm seriously not seeing what she is, if there's something wrong here.
Ashley's POV: I can tell she's nervous, and I think I know why. She's skin and bones. She probably never really ate more than she had to, to stay alive. At least that's what it looks like.
Andy keeps looking over at Lexi, confusion clear on his face, and finally I hear him whisper to her, "You okay?"
"Y-Yeah," she stammers, making it clear she's not okay. She's clearly not, but won't admit it.
I sigh, then take her by the hand and guide her over to Subway, where I order a Cold Cut for myself, then look at her and ask, "What do you want? Veggie, cold cut, meatball, what? Totally up to you, sweetheart."
"Umm...Veggie is fine," she says to me and the guy behind the counter asked, "Bread?"
She looks at the list of breads they have and says, "flat, please."
He nods, grabbing what she asked for and we order the rest of our subs the way we like them. Once that's out of the way, I order a tea and chips, but she just gets water and nothing else.
That's when I intervene and say, "Actually, let me get another bag of chips, three of each cookie, and a large soda too."
This girl really needs to learn to live a little, I think as I pay for our order and take the bag to a table Andy's already sitting at with some kind of pasta thing. Not really sure what it is, but it smells good. I'll have to ask him what kind it is, and get it next time. Maybe even tomorrow.
I then grab the subs from the bag and pass Lexi hers, finding she picks at it more than eats it, and when she does take a bite, it's more like a nibble. What the hell is going on with this girl?
In the end, she doesn't eat too much of her sub, so I try something else, passing her a bag of Sun Chips, but same thing happens. Alright, let's try a cookie.
"Favorite cookie?" I ask her, out of no where, and she looks confused.
"I don't have a favorite cookie," she finally answers after a moment.
"Bullshit. Everyone has a favorite cookie," Andy says, snagging one of the Raspberry Cheesecake ones.
"Not everyone," she replies under her breath.
"Fine. Try this one and these. A small bite out of each is all we ask, then you eat whichever ones you like best, and we'll take the others," I tell her, setting each cookie on a napkin in front of her.
She looks down at them, then points to one and asked, "What's this one called?"
"Double Chocolate Chip," I say, "Why?"
"Because it looks like someone took a crap and baked it," she says bluntly.
Andy and I laugh, then I say, "Well, sweetheart, I can promise it's not made from someone taking a shit and baking it."
"It still looks like someone made it out of crap, but okay," she says, taking a very tiny bite from the edge of the cookie. It's wrote all over her face that she loves it, and she then smashes into it, making us laugh.
Lexi's POV: When we finish at the food court, we head back to the venue they are playing tonight. Andy and Ashley have spoiled me today by getting me stuff that I might need, what with living on Earth again. In Heaven you didn't want or need anything, but on Earth it's an everyday battle to survive. You never know what's going to happen. Your wants and needs are never quite met, usually. Nothing comes easy in this world. Earth is a form of Hell, I suppose.
I really never thought I'd miss Heaven this much, but I do. I wish I could change what happened, but I can't. I now have to live with my choices, and try to change myself enough that they'll consider letting me back in.
Nah. Gabriel hates me. He'd never let me back in. And I know what you're thinking. Angel's don't hate. Well, take it from someone who knows. We do, but the lower angels (like myself) have to keep it hidden, while the Arch Angels can openly hate someone. It's not fair, but from what I can tell, the Arch Angels in Heaven are often times, worse than the Government officials on Earth.
On the ride back though, Ashley and Andy tell me some things about being a Fallen Angel. Strange. As much as I want to get back in Heaven though, hearing all this...hearing what freedom's really like now...It makes me want to pick freedom over Angelhood.
I don't think I'll ever return to Heaven, but nor do I want to go to Hell. I want to be myself. I want to not be afraid to live again.
You know what? Fuck the Arch Angels. They can keep their Heaven. I'm staying on Earth until the end of time.
