Spin the Bottle

Chapter 13

-Andy's POV-

The winter break days with Ashley passed slowly yet blissfully, as anything was wonderful when he was with me. But we still had no plans for the new year, so that's why I was borrowing his laptop while he was in the shower to look up places we could go for a date. Hmm, I thought. What's something not too pricey, far away, easy, and fun? Then it hit me. Quickly, I typed in my idea, found a place, and took a picture of the address with my phone right before he walked in, towel tied loosely around his waist. I deleted the web page to keep it a mystery.
"Hey, babe. Watcha doing with my laptop?" Ashley asked as I set it down and approached him.
"Making plans for a surprise date," I replied, taking his hand in mine and just fiddling with it, glancing up into his beautiful eyes and feeling my heart skip a beat. "You know my heart still stops everytime I look at you," I whispered, bringing myself closer to him.
"Just the thought of having such a perfect man like you always takes my breath away," Ashley said softly, kissing me but pulling apart after a moment. "My towel is about to fall off," he warned.
"This could be an interesting way to end the year."
"Or an even better way to start, if we wait for January first. It's only the day after tomorrow, love. There's no need to rush."
"Good point. I'll let you get changed." I left the room and googled directions to our secret date place. I was sure Ashley would love this.

-Ashley's POV-

I collapsed on my bed with a deep sigh of love, streched smile of affection for my boyfriend hurting my cheeks with how strongly I felt. Andy never failed to make me laugh and smile, then he was so kind yet serious at the same time. There were no words for how much I loved him. I couldn't wait to see whatever surprise he had planned for us tomorrow.

-Time Skip: Tomorrow Night-

"Batman, please tell me where we're going," I giggled as Andy lead me to my truck, which he insisted he was driving.
"Nope, that would ruin the whole point of a surprise! Besides, I'm taking you out this time, and you kept my birthday plans a secret."
"Fine," I agreed, happy that I was simply sitting next to him in the car. When we arrived at said mystery place, however, it was not what I expected.
"Ice skating?" I raised an eyebrow, and Andy nodded.
"Yup." He took my by the hand and lead me inside eagerly. I couldn't help but be slightly disappointed, I was a terrible ice skater and did not enjoy falling in the cold very much. But covering up for Andy was easy, I grinned every time I saw him excited.
"You'll have to teach me, though. I'm a terrible ice skater," I told him as we entered the indoor, chilly rink.
"No problem, I figured you might not know, considering this is the only place in your whole town. Don't worry, you'll be twirling on your own soon." I doubted that, stepping onto the pale, slippery ice cautiously, gripping Andy's hand so tight that his knuckles turned white. He laughed.
"What's so funny?"
"You've got my hand in this death grip, like if you fall, you're gonna die. It's ok, Ashy, see?" Andy said, letting me hold on to the wall while he skated an impressively fast lap around the rink."
"O-ok," I stuttered, taking his hands and letting him guide me about a foot away from the wall when he returned. Naturally, I somehow managed to slip, falling into his steady arms.
"Was that on purpose?" Andy asked as he helped me stand, still holding my hands.
"Maybe," I smirked, pecking him on the lips and not caring about the stares we were most likely receiving.
"Alright, now come on, Ashes, I'm going to teach you how to skate. Then I'll chase you around the rink for that," he joked, and to my surprise, he actually did teach me, first by going slow and holding my hands, then a bit faster, then with one hand, and before I knew it, I was on my own circling the oval-shaped rink.
"Ok," I said. "Now you can chase me." I teased him with another quick kiss, taking off not a moment later, with him close in pursuit. As time wore on, the rink became more crowded, and I soon lost him in a maze of strangers, out of breath. Or so I thought.
"Hey!" I cried as a mysterious person grabbed me by the waist and spun me around, kissing me passionately. I kissed back when I realized it was Andy.
"That's what I was after," he said once we had pulled apart, me still in his arms. I rested my head on his chest.
"I love you, Batman."
"I love you, too, Ashes." He checked his watch all of a sudden. "Yes! It's 11:30, in 15 minutes, they're going to pull apart those curtains where there's a giant window where they shoot fireworks from, so that you can skate and watch fireworks. I checked the website, that's what it said."
"Ah. That sounds perfect."
"You're perfect."
"You're perfecter."
"That's not a word."
"Batman isn't your real name, but I still call you it. Perfecter is the same way, except it's not a real word."
"Fine, but if I'm perfecter, you're more perfecter."
"Ok no we have to stop now, we cannot be one of those couples, otherwise I'm gonna call you shmoopsie-poo one day or something."
"Mmkay shmoopsie-poo."
"Stop it!" I laughed, and the fireworks began. They were gorgeous, bursting with reds deep as blood, oranges like fire and yellows like sunlight. There were emerald explosions laced with blues the color of Andy's eyes and mixed with violet hues. As we reached the 10 second count down, golden sparks flew like rockets, like falling stars tracing a path through the sky. When we left the skating rink, a women stopped us and handed me a picture that she had taken just as the final second was listed. She had captured the moment when Andy and I were kissing on new years day, with a giant, rainbow firework blooming behind us, outside the huge window. She told us she'd never seen two people more in love and wished us a happy new year. We did the same. She had taken this special moment and given it to us to keep forever.

Notes

Hey guys, sorry it's been absolutely forever!!! We had a day off today, but school's been eating me alive with homework and pressure and stuff. I'm trying to be more regular about updating, but it's hard when I hardly have any free time to sit down and write :( I love writing and I will eventually finish this story, but it's going to take a while because of the screwed up education system controlling my entire life. Seriously, one of my friends had homework due on Halloween when there wasn't even any school! She was supposed to submit it online OVER THE WEEKEND!!!! There is something very wrong about that. Anyhoo, happy late Halloween!! I think I'm going to delete the two chapters with the authors note...oh, also, please feel free to message me if you see any typos in my story, I've definitely made more than a few, I just need to find them to fix them. Thanks for reading and have a wonderful day!!
