We Don't Belong

The pungent aroma of coffee fills my nostrils as it wafts throughout he air vents and into my room. So does the clang of dishes in the kitchen downstairs. My parents are already up and about, bustling around the kitchen, getting ready for work. Judging from the rather loud noises downstairs, I can safely assume it's about 6:50am, meaning I'm supposed to be up in ten minutes. However, I've been up since 6am.

I stand in front of my mirror in my bathroom, trying to draw a straight line above my eye, a skill I have yet to master. Sighing and giving up after my fourth attempt this morning, I wipe off any excess black eye makeup, and leave my face bare of any cosmetics.

Quickly tying up my Vans before heading downstairs, I glance in the mirror at my outfit. I smooth out my shirt and head downstairs for breakfast after grabbing my bag and iPhone.

"Morning Rosie, how did you sleep?" My mom asks as I enter the kitchen.
"Fine", I shrug, grabbing a peach form the fruit basket.

Chris is sitting at the table on his phone, probably texting his girlfriend. I have nothing against them dating or her at all, it's just weird, imagining someone who've you known for so long, growing up and finding someone.

Without looking up from his phone, he asks, "want a ride to school?"
I shake my head no, "actually I think I'm going to meet Chloe at her house and she's gonna drive. But thanks."

Shouting a bye as I dash out of the door, I text Chloe and plug my headphones in. Black Veil Brides, We Don't Belong instantly begins playing, and I instantly relax to Andy's deep voice.

Rose: Can u pick me up? Im outside my house
Chlo: Finnneee but u owe me ;)
Rose: thx bby <3
Chlo: b there in 5

True to her word, she arrives at my house in exactly five minutes, her white Audi gleaming in the sun. I hop in the passenger and immediately plug my phone in, blasting Black Veil Brides, I Am Bulletproof. As we drive to school, we both scream the lyrics with the windows rolled down, laughing at all the people staring at us crazy teenage girls. Today is going to be a good day.
