Sanctuary

- Andy's house -
Andy opened the door the his bedroom still holding my hand.
"Andy," I said, to get his attention. He turned around and I smiled as I kicked the door shut behind me. Immediately knowing my thoughts and mirroring them, he wrapped his arms around my waist. I stood as high as I could on my toes, and light brushed my lips against his before fully locking my lips around his, loving the feel of his cold lip ring. His hands moved down from my waist, and grabbed my thighs to lift me up and set me on his dresser. My tiny 5'2" frame made kissing and a few other things awkward, considering he was over a foot taller than me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and my legs around his slender hips as he kept one hand on the back of my head and the other on my chest. After a few minutes of passionate kissing, Andy pulled back and looked me in the eyes for a few seconds before I got irritated.
"What?" I snapped.

"We probably need to go to the practice arena tonight. I haven't shot in a week and you haven't tossed a knife in a while either."

I hated that. 'Tossed a knife'. He made it sound like I just threw things like a temperamental preteen. Completely ignoring every bit of precision. Nevertheless, I brushed it off.
"It's Mom's birthday tonight, you didn't forget we're taking her to dinner?"

"Of course not. We just can't afford to lose our edge."

"We won't. We'll go tomorrow."

Just then his his phone buzzed. Sophia was calling him. He let it ring for a moment as he brushed his raven colored hair out of his face and bit his lip, staring at the phone. He was spacing out again. I took the movement for him and declined the call. Work can wait.
But as I thought this, the phone buzzed again. Only once. A text from Sophia.

I will not ask again. Answer me now. The Birdcage Operation has started back up. Contact me ASAP- Sophia.
