The Water In My Lungs

Part One-Eyes Set To Kill

Every. Single. Music. Video.

Or at least three or four. He was in a lot.

The way she crawled on top of him and kissed him. The way they looked at each other, her beautiful blue eyes getting tangled in his brown ones.

I should have never let her go. What the fuck is wrong with me? I'm such an idiot... I was naive, she was young..

Not anymore. The way she sang, her voice powerful against the background music her band produced made her seem so mature, so wise. Her tattoed arms glinted in the third music video she put out this month.

I will get her back if it's the end of me.

Imogen Bradley sat on the top of her partners shoulder feeling decently steady. Fifteen years old, and just starting partnering classes for ballet, she couldn't help but feel a little unstable. Her partner Andrew tossed her up a bit and she tumbled down, until he caught her gently in his arms and dipped her in a fish tale lift.

"That was beautiful, Im, just keep your foot pointed." The teacher, Mr. Coder, said. Imogen had the perfect ballet body. Stick skinny, small head, long elegant neck. Her skin, pale but brilliant. Her blue eyes that seemed to make every person in the audience believe she was looking directly at them when she performed. Even her brown and blonde hair that would look a little silly on someone else but on her.

Wow, it was impossible to even look away.

While she danced.

That was not the case when she walked around the hallways of her high school. A junior, only because she skipped a year, and shyer than anyone thought humanly possible.

But on a stage, her true feelings for the world came out. No one was positive what Imogen Bradley wanted to do with her life, but everyone knew it would be something on stage. An audience bowing at her feet.

She wasn't the beauty of the family, or even her parents favorite. It was obvious that was her sister, Brooke Bradley. Six feet of legs and curves. She was a beauty and had every boy in Hadley Falls crawling after her. Imogen was nothing compared to her except in her dance studio where she was a star. Younger girls looked up to her, she had great friends, it was her true home. She thanked her lucky stars everyday she got to be there.

"Okay class, that's it for today, now go home and get some rest." Mr. Codor said. Imogen groaned and looked at Andrew.

"Want to spend the night at my house?" He asked biting his lip. Everyone at the studio knew of Imogen's home life. It's not like it was bad. They were one of the richest families in Hadley Falls, in fact probably the richest. It was just how her parents ignored her. That was the worst feeling. And Brooke's constant tries to change who Imogen was, didn't help and never would.

"Nah, running away would make it worse." Imogen said, solemnly. Andrew was her best friend and she told him everything. He was always there for her. She spent the night with him at least twice a week and she really wished he went to her school. No one from her dance studio went to Hadley High so she was utterly alone.

"Alright." Andrew sighed, "I'll see you tomorrow."

Imogen grabbed her dance bag from the corner of the room and slipped her pointe shoes off. She slid her yoga pants on and hugged Andrew. He smiled at her his lopsided grin that Imogen knew all too well. She ruffled his dark brown hair and he straightened his black glasses. His brown eyes blinked down at the beautiful girl, and he couldn't help but get lost in her shiny blues. Tons of others came up to hug Imogen and after, she ran out to her sisters car.

"Could you have taken any longer?" She huffed, immediately pulling out of the parking spot.

"S-sorry." Imogen muttered, scrunching back in her seat.

"Whatever, let's just get home." Brooke groaned and raced down the road.

Coder Dance Studio was a twenty minute drive from the Bradley residence but to Brooke it felt like an eternity. Twenty minutes there and back equals forty and she didn't want to waste that much time of her life. Why did her sister have to have such a stupid hobby?

She glanced over at the younger girl who had her earbuds in and on the screen of her phone were the words My Chemical Romance. She shook her head.

Finally, they arrived at their large, two story home. They both walked into the house, Brooke a little faster than Imogen who, when she got inside, bolted up the stairs without a word to her family.
She shut her door and flopped down on her bed. She looked around at the walls covered in band posters and pictures of her with her dance friends. Andrew crowded most of them and Imogen couldn't help but smile looking at her best friend. She sighed and shook her head.

Standing up, she moved to her closet and grabbed a pair of pajamas. She changed quickly, and was thankful she didn't have to worry about taking her makeup off, since she never wore it. She just brushed her teeth, popped her retainer in and walked back into her bedroom.
Imogen carefully reached under her bed and grabbed her guitar.

The old acoustic was her greatest escape next to dancing. She would sit on her padded window sill and write and sing for hours. She loved music with all of her heart and it would be hard for her to choose between dance and it, but she knew she'd make the right decision.

Imogen started strumming out a beautifully light tune. She had opened her window and was now singing The Light Behind Your Eyes by My Chemical Romance.

She belted the beautiful song, her eyes closed as the melodic tune filled her wanting ears. Imogen heard a small rustling in the bushes below her and she looked out into the starry night.

She stayed silent for a moment before continuing her strumming and singing. Going from one song to the other with no problem.

Imogen was one special girl and only two boys would ever know her love. Now which one she picked, that was the real problem...

@Ellie-phant
Thank you SOOO much! I have a lot more of your interested, but I know you already read a lot of them! Its not over, and won't be for a bit. I'm in the process of writing it still and I have been for a long time so I'm too emotionally attached to stop haha!

So, I just read this entire thing in two days.. First, WOMAN! Tell me when you have new stories! I'm terrible at finding things, and you know how much I enjoy your writing. Two, I just sobbed my eyes out. This was beautiful. I cannot tell if it's over, but I'm so in awe, I can't even handle it. You're amazing. <3
