Love And Other Drugs
And So It Starts
It felt strange being back in LA, but as Luxe thought about arriving earlier, she felt a smile grace her lips. This was her home-this is where she belonged and even though it would be Thanksgiving in two days and Luxe was going to be alone, it was okay. They had made it to the venue, gotten ready and then just hung out.
There was no Meet and Greet for this show-it was the last one and they'd had one at the beginning of the tour. God that seemed so long ago and Luxe felt a blush creep across her cheeks as she thought back to it. She had been miserable sitting beside Andy-she had been miserable for the first month almost, knowing that this kid was just going to be an asshole the entire time.
Andy had been an asshole, but they'd all been pretty nasty to one another and now they were all really close. As the guys were all standing around, waiting for the set change to happen, Luxe smiled. The Dolls had played first and the crowd had been so different this time around than when they had first played here. The first show had been great, but only a few people knew their songs-tonight they had heard every single person singing back at them and it had made Luxe's heart soar. She looked around, smiling as she wiped a town across her sweaty forehead and took everything in.
Char and Ashley were hanging out by the guitar carriage, smirking and laughing at one another-flirting by the looks of it. Pixie and Jake were talking shop-Pixie was thinking of getting a new guitar and wanted to know how Jake liked his. Lulu, Mads, CC and Jinxx were all surrounding a table taking a shot and Luxe only smiled as she tried to find Andy. He was probably out back smoking and from the sounds of the screaming fans coming from the street-Luxe had been correct.
A few seconds later and Andy was walking towards her, his long hair stringy and in need of a wash. His skinny frame was covered in black stripes, less than usual and Luxe knew that Andy was getting tired of rocking all the war paint.
“I think you girls had the best show of the tour so far tonight.” Andy said as he walked over towards her, a slight smirk gracing his pierced lips.
“Thanks-I can’t believe it’s over.” Luxe said sadly-she would miss touring, but then again they would be out on the road in Europe in just a week.
“Yeah, post-tour depression can be rough. So what are your plans for the week?” Andy asked as he bent down, pulling two water bottles out of the cooler and handing her one.
“Probably just gonna sit around my condo and wallow in my solidarity.” She laughed, but really it wasn’t funny. All of the girls were going to see their families for the holiday, but Luxe didn’t have that luxury and so she had a nice plan of takeout food and Netflix on her calendar.
“Oh. Well why don’t you come with me out to Cincinnati? Spend the holiday with my parents and I…” His smile was wide and Luxe felt her heart begin to pound. What was he asking her to do? They weren’t really a couple.
“Um-Andy, you do realize we’re not really dating…right?” She joked and he laughed softly as he reached out and tucked some of her hair behind her ear. Her ears were pierced four times on each lobe and the small girl was beginning to also gain almost as much ink as he had at the moment.
“I know, but friends can visit their friend’s families. Ash came with me last year. Come on-my mom’s home cooked food is going to better than takeout and Netflix…” Luxe only laughed-he knew her all too well.
“Sure…sure sounds good.” She said as she took a sip of her water and looked around. The guys were all getting their gear together and Luxe knew that Andy needed to warm up. But the singer wasn’t moving and so she shoved his shoulder lightly.
“Don’t you have some vocal warm ups to be doing?” She asked and Andy only smirked and ran a hand through his long thick hair. She was right, but Andy didn’t want to leave.
“I do, but I have one more question.” He said, giving her his big blue puppy dog eyes and Luxe felt her knees grow weak. They were just friends…just friends…nothing more…
“O-okay.” She said and Andy only smiled as he bit down on his lower lip. He only did that when he was nervous-what was he nervous about?
“How about instead of you going back to your condo tonight…you come stay with me. We can drop your clothes at your place for laundry service, pack a bag for Ohio and then come crash at my place…” He was so persuasive and Luxe had to think about it for a moment. She was going to go home, take a long hot bath and then crash, but she felt like being alone right now might not be the best thing for her.
“Fine! But I’m sleeping on the couch!” She laughed as Andy grabbed her, hugging her quickly before he ran off towards his bandmates. Luxe only smiled as she watched Andy warm up and she realized how thankful she was for his friendship. Sure, she wanted more, but for now it just wasn’t the right time.
Luxe walked over to where the girls were all gathered around, a small table that held a huge bottle of Jack, some shot glasses, a small mirror, a razor blade and a small baggie. Luxe watched from a distance as Mads chopped at the mirror with the razor, some of the white powder spreading out before she shuffled it back in.
The singer watched as Pixie leaned down, a small rolled up piece of paper up to her nose, as she snorted some of the white powder and then stood up straight. Luxe felt her stomach clench as she watched all of the girls take a turn and then Char noticed her standing there.
“Come on girl! Join the party!” She laughed, her long purple hair in tangles from running around on stage and Luxe only smiled and shook her head. She was okay with some pills and weed, but this…this was getting a little serious.
“I’m good.” Luxe said and then swallowed as Mads approached her, tossing a tattooed arm around her shoulders lightly as she led Luxe over towards the table.
“Oh come on you sissy-we’re just celebrating the tour’s end. You can take a hit…one little hit won’t hurt you.” Mads said, smiling and Luxe only returned that smile as she nodded her head and approached the table. Mads had a point-one hit wouldn’t hurt her and they were celebrating the end of a successful tour and the beginning of another.
“That’s my girl…” Char said as she handed Luxe the rolled up paper and Luxe took a deep breath.
Luxe slowly bent down, sticking the paper up to her nose like Pixie had done and she gently placed it down near the powder. All of the girls had inhaled quickly and so Luxe mimicked their actions and felt her nose begin to burn as the powder hit it and then dissipated almost as quickly. The reaction was immediate-she felt like she was floating and Luxe laughed loudly as she set the paper down and looked around her.
The girls were all giggling and dancing around one another slowly, all caught up in the high they were taking together. Char and Mads were dancing together, their hips rotating slowly towards one another as they smirked and laughed. Pixie and Lulu were doing the same thing and Luxe only smiled as she looked towards the left side of the stage.
Andy and the guys were out there, playing their hearts out and Luxe wanted to be out there too. She missed the stage already and so with a swift movement towards the stage, Luxe along with the rest of the girls following behind her, walked out on to the stage. The guys were just getting in to The Legacy and so Luxe walked out on stage, bobbing her head up and down, her blonde hair swinging along with the music. The guys all laughed as she walked over to each one, finally stopping as she got to Ashley.
Char had joined her and as the bassist played, the girls swung their hips and their hair around. Luxe still had her stage clothes on-a tight dress that was light purple with black stripes and her knee high boots that she loved. Ashley was eating it up, as was CC who had Mads and Pixie hanging off of his drums as he banged away.
Andy kept looking over his shoulder at her, that mischievous smirk on his lips and Luxe only smirked back, swinging her hips as she walked towards the other singer. Lulu was hanging off of Jake and the two girls giggled at one another as Luxe passed her and made her way to Andy.
“The legacy! Born from a dream! Long leather wings-rose from the streets, with their hands on destiny!” Andy sang as he tossed an arm around her shoulders and Luxe only giggled as she sang along in to the mic.
She loved feeling like this-like she was lighter than air and as if she could do anything in the entire world, but Luxe knew it wouldn’t last. The guys played a few more songs, the girls staying on the stage and running around as they swung their heads back and forth-headbanging to the music as the guys laughed and high fived them. The audience was eating it up and Luxe noticed that Andy seemed to be having a good time, but he kept looking at her like he was trying to figure her out.
He could probably tell she was high, but he was a rockstar and she couldn’t imagine that Andy hadn’t ever ridden the same high she was on right now. After a few more songs, their set came to an end, well except for the encore which Luxe had been looking forward to. The guys all left the stage to screams for their encore and quickly they all ran back out, Andy taking the mic in to his hands once again.
“Alright guys! I want you to yell for me! Scream!”
“Scream!” The audience called back to him and Luxe joined in-she loved this song!
“Shout!” The yelled back and Luxe began to dance as the guys went in to playing and the audience kept screaming and shouting.
We are the in between, cast down as sons of war
Struck to the earth like lightning, on this world we're torn
We won't cause the pain, of living out their law
Take joy in who you are, we know our wings are flawed
Andy sang, smirking as Luxe leaned in and sang right along with him. He actually liked having her on stage, singing this song with him and the guys-it felt right. The crowd seemed to love seeing the two bands come together for the final song of the show and Andy thought that maybe they should do this every night on the next tour-the Dolls would come out for Angels and they would go out for the Dolls last song. He had never thought the two bands would get this close, that they would be such good friends, but deep down Andy was happy for it.
“You guys were fucking awesome! Have a good night LA and we’ll see you next time!” Andy called in to the mic as he placed it back in to the stand and wrapped an arm around Luxe’s shoulders. She was wobbling, obviously still on her high and Andy couldn’t help but worry. Her past…her parents past…this could lead in to something a little more serious.
“Come on Luce…lets get you home…” Andy whispered in to her ear and the blonde singer only smiled at him, her grey eyes completely dilated as she looked his way.
“Whatever you say Andy-poo.” She giggled then and Andy only smirked as he walked her out of the backstage area and looked around.
All of the girls were acting just like Luxe and Andy knew then that he was touring with a band that was probably going to self destruct by the end of it all, but it would be interesting to watch.
Seems like Luxe and the girls are getting in over their heads. Should be interesting...
