Love And Other Drugs

10 Things I Hate About You

The night had come and gone and yet Luxe was still pissed off. She had barely slept and instead paced her condo and tried to ignore Andy's blaring music from across the hall. So many things were running through her brain right now-the record, which had come out on the East Coast at midnight and then there was the meeting after the cameras had been turned off.Even thinking about it now as she paced the hallway in her condo in her Batman t-shirt and white tube socks, Luxe could feel her anger rise.

After Alex had stated that they would, in fact, be playing fifteen songs-even though there were only eleven songs on their record-Andy and the guys of Black Veil Brides got in to a tizzy and started talking about doing more songs. The girls just sat by and let the boys argue-they didn't care how many songs they played and in fact that didn't even know what extra songs Alex had planned for them to play. Turns out they were going to play a few songs that they had messed around with when they were first practicing together. Iris by the GooGoo Dolls was one, Twenty-One Guns by Green Day was another one and then there were the classics-Alone by Heart, I Love Rock And Roll by Joan Jett and Total Eclipse Of The Heart by Bonnie Tyler.

It all sounded good to Luxe and she knew that they would practice those songs today at rehearsal. First though she need to eat, shower and change in to something that was a little more 'on'. Alex had been on her constantly about being 'on' and always meeting with fans, replying to them as much as possible on Instagram and Twitter and then there was the argument that happened last night after the boys left. All of the girls were to follow BVB on all social media platforms and they were being instructed to do the same. It was so unfair that they had to tour with the five guys in the world who hated them most. Not getting too lost in her self pity, Luxe was able to hear her phone buzzing on the table and quickly moved to pick it up.

"Hello?" She asked into the receiver and was met by excited shouting from Alex.

"Number twenty! Twenty!" He just kept repeating twenty over and over again and Luxe really thought he had lost his mind for a second.

"Twenty what?" She finally managed to get in there and Alex stopped shouting long enough to laugh at her before explaining.

"All Dolled Up has reached number twenty on the Billboard Charts Luxe! That's amazing not only for a rock group, but especially for a group of female rock musicians!" He seemed so excited and genuinely so and that made Luxe like him just a little bit more. Alex McFadden was a worm who treated her like she was just a puppet, but he had done a really good job of getting her and the Dolls out there.

"Oh my God! Holy shit!" Was all she could say before she was screaming at the top of her lungs and crying all at the same time. This meant so much-they were liked, kids actually spent their hard earned money to buy All Dolled Up and it also meant something else...she wouldn't ever have to go back to that diner in Cornerstown.

"I know! I think to celebrate you and Andy should go out tonight!" Alex said quickly and Luxe felt her entire body just stand still. Her excitement plummeted as she remembered the way his blue eyes took her in last night...like she was a complete menace that had to be stopped and he would be the one to do it.

"I'm sorry, what?" She said into the phone and at first she thought they had been disconnected.

"Look Luxe, you and Andy need to go out, get to know one another since you two will be the faces of this tour." Alex said matter of factly and Luxe sighed. Not this again-what was it with Alex trying to get her and Andy together?

"Don't you think I should, oh I dunno-celebrate this with the girls tonight? Go out to Crow and party it up or something?" Luxe was hopeful, but her dreams were dashed in about .05 seconds.

"Nope. I've made a reservation for you and Andy tonight at Boulangier-it's very pricey and very nice. So dress up, get all dolled up-pun intended-and put on a happy face because we are in this!" Alex said before hanging up.

Luxe just stood there in her hallway, the phone still in her hands and her socked feet slipping against the shining hardwood floor. What. The. Fuck. She'd had it-absolutely and completely had it with Andy Six, Black Veil Brides and Alex McFadden. She was her own person and she could date who she wanted to date dammit! Luxe huffed as she walked towards the front of her condo, trying to decide who she should call first-Char or Pixie. One of the two would be able to give her some kind of advice and just as she was putting in Char's number, her doorbell rang and Luxe sighed as she moved to answer it.

"Delivery for a Luxe..." The kid at the door was staring at her as she stood there in her t-shirt, underwear and socks, but Luxe was too busy looking at the huge bouquet of flowers in the kid's arms.

"I-uh-thanks. Who are these from?" She asked as she signed the paper he had handed over and then took the flowers in to her arms. They were gorgeous-daisies, roses, and tulips all in either white or very light teal.

"I-it...it says on the card. Have a good day." He stammered before disappearing down the hallway and Luxe only laughed as she closed her door, but not before giving a pointed angry look toward Andy's closed door.

"Who are you from?" She said aloud to the plants as Luxe set them on her glass coffee table and gently rooted around for a card of some sort. Finally she found one and while it was tiny, it said so much and Luxe could only scowl as she read over the words printed on the piece of card stock.

Luxe,
I'm so happy that we're touring together these next few months
and even more excited for our date tonight. I'll be outside your
door at 7PM. Also congratulations on your album reaching
number twenty on the charts-I'm really proud of you.
See you tonight.
Love,
Andy

Luxe screamed, loud enough that they could probably hear her out on the street, but she didn't give two shits. Quickly she reached down, grabbed the now tainted but still gorgeous flowers by their stems and rushed towards her front door. How dare he?! She had thought him arrogant before, but now Luxe knew that Andy Six was a complete and utter asshat. Why would someone complain so much about a band that they have to tour with, call them mediocre-to their faces-and then storm out of a meeting, only to send the singer a beautiful bunch of flowers the next day?

Standing outside of his door now, Luxe didn't know what her plan was, but with the flowers still gripped tightly in her right hand, she raised her left and pounded on the door. There was no answer for at least a minute and so with anger bursting from her hands, Luxe smacked her palm against the door over and over again until finally it cracked open and she could see one sleepy blue eye on the other side. Andy seemed to recognize her and soon enough the door popped open and he was standing in front of her-sans clothing and just in a pair of Kermit the Frog boxers with his black hair sticking up at odd angles.

"Luxe? What are you doing?" He asked her sleepily and then Andy yelped as he was whacked, not once, but twice with a bunch of flowers.

"You. Fucking. Asshole!" She was saying with each smack and Andy tossed an arm in front of his face to protect himself from the onslaught of shrubbery.

"Luxe! Luxe stop! Stop!" Andy shouted as he tried to keep the flowers from smacking him in the face and also he was trying to grab for her hand to get her to toss the now broken stems to the floor.

"No! No you stop!" She shouted as she hit him one last time and then tossed the flowers down the hallway.

"I didn't do anything!" He defended and now Luxe was just standing across the hallway from him, her back against her door and her arms crossed over her chest. He hadn't even realized he was standing there in no clothes until someone else opened their door, stared at the two of them strangely before walking off down towards the elevators.

"Don't fucking stand there and act like you didn't send me flowers after calling me mediocre last night Andy! Our record may not be your taste or to your liking but we are at number twenty on Billboard and that's fucking fantastic in my book!" She was crying now-almost sobbing and Andy still had no idea what was going on.

"I-I didn't send you flowers..." He said, his voice small and Luxe only growled at him as she turned around, opened her door and then looked out at him. Her grey eyes had something in them-sadness, but there was something else.

Devastation.

"Bullshit. I saw the card and I know your game...I will go out with you tonight but only because Alex is pushing me to do so. After that don't fucking look at me, speak to me or even think about me unless we are on that stage performing that fucking duet that we're now both stuck with." She sounded so hurt and Andy really felt bad, but he was also confused.

"Luxe I-I'm sorry..." He said stupidly as he tried to walk towards her. She said nothing as she grabbed for the door and just before she slammed it in his face, Luxe looked him right in the eye and almost spat her words at him.

"I don't fucking care Andy. I hate you...more than anyone in this entire world I hate every single thing about you."

Andy just stood there, the flowers at his feet with their bent stems, fallen petals and the card that had fallen out. He bent down, his black painted fingernails scraping across the plush carpeted floor and as Andy scanned his blue eyes over the writing, he knew that this hadn't been from him. He had come home last night, angry, frustrated and slightly jealous after the meeting and had taken all of those feelings out with a bottle of Jack. He had completely forgotten that the girl's album had come out today and up until Luxe had practically banged his door down he had been sound asleep.

The date-God that stupid fucking date that neither one of them wanted to go on and yet they were both being forced to. Why? Why did it matter if they were friends? Why should they want to hang out together and why did Alex care so fucking much? Andy bit down on his lip ring as he gathered up the broken flowers in his hands and then turned around to go back inside. He could hear, very faintly, the sound of someone crying in to a phone from across the hall and he knew that in some way he had done that.

They didn't like one another, they hated eachother actually, but it completely gutted him to see Luxe cry and he really didn't ever want to see it happen again.

Notes

That dreaded date...will the two of them survive one another long enough to even make it out on the road?

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

I'm pretty sure I've done nothing but cry while reading these last few chapters. You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
