Love And Other Drugs

Better Than Ever

The ground was shaking and for anyone who lived in California that was normally a very scary thing, but right now it was making Luxe smile. Her smile was so wide that it was making her cheeks hurts, but she couldn't help but feel happy at the site before her. The entire Nokia Theater was filled to the rafters with Dolls' fans and they were all getting pumped for the coming event. Luxe was standing side stage, hidden in the shadows as she and the girls were instructed to stay out of view.

Currently there was a PA out on stage, a clipboard in one tattooed hand and a microphone in the other. He was instructing the crowd on what to do, what not to do and how this entire thing was going to work. The girls were excited to be shooting another video-out of all the things they got to do in their job, this was Luxe's favorite. She loved the drama of it all, she loved the excitement and most of all Alex wasn't by her side 24/7.

The stress was on-the album was coming out in one week and the tour was to start in another two. Alex was worried that the stress of it all was going to cause Luxe to crash, but realistically she was stronger than ever. She and the girls went to weekly meetings, both as a group and alone, and Luxe saw her therapist twice a week. One topic that had been up for discussion this past week had been Andy and the relationship with him that Luxe was avoiding.

The two of them had reconnected after their tour announcement and that was mostly because once again Alex was making them do interview after interview together. It had been fun and it had really reminded Luxe as to why she loved Andy so much in the first place. He was so driven, so passionate and yet he still knew how to keep things light hearted. With his goofy responses and random stories, Andy had Luxe and the interviewers rolling around in laughter and begging for more.

But it just wasn't the same...it probably would never be the same.

"Luxe!" Someone called out to her and as the blonde singer turned around, a smile lit up her face. Andy was standing by the back exit door, the other guys from BVB hanging behind as they surveyed their surroundings.

"I was wondering when you guys were going to show up!" Luxe said, smiling as she approached Andy and felt one of his arms wrap around her, pulling her small body towards his. Andy looked great-he always did-in a worn leather jacket, black muscle shirt and his favorite black skinny jeans. He had also been keeping his hair shaved on both sides, but long on the top, which was something that Luxe found really attractive on him.

"Yeah sorry we're late-CC needed to stop and get food!" Andy said loudly and Luxe giggled as she noticed the drummer had a 7/11 hotdog hanging from his mouth.

"I can't help it that I have to eat every few hours...low blood sugar." CC defended between chewing and Luxe only rolled her eyes. These guys were absurd, but she loved them more than anyone else in the entire world.

"Speaking of low blood sugar...how've you been feeling?" Andy asked and Luxe felt some of the color drain from her face.

Shit.

She was hoping he hadn't heard of her recent episode during a photoshoot, but of course word got around in this group. Lately Luxe hadn't been feeling well-getting dizzy all of a sudden and needing to sit down. There was also a slight pain running up her chest, but Alex had pushed that off as indigestion problems. The dizziness was so sudden and ended so quickly that Luxe had forgotten all about it, but apparently someone had noticed and spilled the beans to Andy.

"I'm fine. Probably not getting enough sleep or something. Hang here-I need to go finish getting my face put on." She winked at him and Andy only sighed as Luxe slithered out from under his arm and he watched her walk towards the back area of the theater.

"God...you two are frustrating." Someone said from behind him and as Andy turned around, he already knew who it was. Ashley was smirking at him as he rested on tattooed arm on Andy's shoulder and they both looked off towards where the girls were finishing getting ready.

"Tell me about it." Andy said as his blue eyes zeroed in on Luxe. She was getting her eyeliner deepened by a small girl with blue hair and Andy knew that that extra bit of eyeliner was going to make Luxe's already gorgeous eyes even more irresistible.

"Then make a move man! Wasn't this your problem last time?" Ashley suggested and Andy stayed silent.

It had been his problem the last time he and Luxe were together-he had been too chicken shit to take things to another level. Instead they had stayed together, walking in circles until finally Luxe had had enough of him. Andy regretted it and he knew that they belonged together, but he also knew that he was terrible at relationships-he always would be.

"Yeah. Maybe after the shoot I'll see if she wants to hang out or something." Andy said and then grew silent as Luxe came back in to view. She was walking over towards him, followed by all of the girls-all of them looked amazing.

Strange what sobriety can do to a person.

"Hey man!" Char called out to him as she gave him a one armed hug-her guitar was strapped across her chest and it was already awkward walking.

"You girls look amazing." Andy said as he took them all in. All of the girls were rocking leather jackets, torn undershirts and jeans that ended in a pair of black boots. This was a much more relaxed Dolls-these were the girls that Andy loved being around.

"Not looking so bad yourself there sir..." Pixie smiled at him flirtatiously, but Andy knew there was nothing behind that smile but playfulness. Pixie was practically married-the first of the girls to get engaged.

"You ready to get out there?" Andy asked as Luxe moved towards him, a smile plastered on her cherry red lips. She loved beautiful and Andy was trying very hard not to reach out and capture her lips with his own.

"You know it. You staying here?" She asked him with a shy smile.

"I'll be here as long as it takes." He meant that in more ways than one, but now was not the time for that.

The girls were being called out to get on to the stage and as they rushed out, Andy felt his heart leap in his chest. This is what the Dolls were best at-getting out there and making their fans happy. The crowd was screaming, throwing their hands in the air and just overall being rowdy, which would make for a good opening shot and Andy knew it. A long armed camera panned across the crowd, catching every screaming face in it's view.

The guys had done a live video shoot before and Andy knew how long a grueling of a day it was going to be. The guys behind him were all talking about doing other things-only hanging out for a little bit, but then coming back for the end of the day-but Andy was going to be here till the very end. Every time Luxe walked off the stage for a break, he was going to be there for her.

"Alright! We're going to play the song through once to get crowd reactions and then we'll bring in the girl." A PA was saying in to his radio and Andy smirked.

The concept for the video was awesome-a young girl coming to her first show and getting the experience that would change her life forever. The girl's song, Rock Show, was a testament to how most musicians got their start and learned to love music-by seeing it live. As the music played and the speakers thumped with Luxe's voice and Lulu's bass, Andy could even feel himself getting lost in the waves of musical passion.

Inside he was also getting lost to his passion for Luxe, but that was for another time and another day.

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

I'm pretty sure I've done nothing but cry while reading these last few chapters. You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
