Love And Other Drugs

A Simple Dedication

The room was filled with an air of anticipation. Everyone was sitting silently, kind of like how you would sit outside of the principal's office before getting reprimanded. Luxe looked around and noticed that the guys of BVB were all jiggling their legs up and down from nerves and that was making her want to do it as well.

The guys had gotten back from their studio trip in Canada a few days ago and had been hard at work ever since to get things finished.

Today was the day.

Luxe had been happy to have Andy back in her everyday life-he had only stopped by his place to grab something and then he had driven right over to her townhouse. Crow had been staying with Luxe since Andy was gone and it was cute seeing the cat and his human reunite after being apart. Even though Andy had come to her place instead of trying to stay at his own, when Luxe mentioned it he seemed to avoid the topic entirely.

Why was it so hard for him to tell her how he felt? If he didn't want to live together then that was fine, but he needed to be honest and upfront with her about it. Luxe recrossed her legs, her bare skin pale in the dim lighting even though it was summer and she lived in the tanning capital of the world-Luxe would remain pale. Andy was seated beside her, his pale face even lighter as he was nervous about the outcome of the record they had just poured their hearts and souls in to.

Today they would all sit down and listen to the new record, making sure it sounded the way they wanted it to.

"The album cover looks really awesome." Luxe said softly, thinking that only Andy and Jinxx, who was on her other side, would hear her. All of the guys cracked a smile, looking at her and then towards the big poster that was hanging proudly on the wall beside their whiteboard.

"Thanks babe." Andy said quietly. This was unlike him-he hadn't even been this nervous when their last album, which had been pretty intense to record, had come out.

"We really wanted to show our fans what we see them as." Jinxx explained and Luxe only looked from the poster, to the guitarist, and then back to the poster. It had a hulking demon-like creature on the front, it's fangs bared as it gripped the BVB symbol in it's hands, all while standing on a building it had just destroyed.

"Monsters? Isn't that Lady Gaga's thing?" Luxe teased and all of the guys chuckled.

"A force to be dealt with. Our fans have grown strong, we've gained more fans as well and now they aren't just a silly army of teens..." Andy said and then stopped. He seemed so proud and it was then that Luxe realized-he wasn't just proud of the record, he was proud of how it represented the fans.

"They're more powerful now than they ever have been and that has given us some power too." Jake interjected and Luxe only nodded.

She got it-she felt the same way about her own fans. The girls had decided to go the same route with their own album art. It was a long shot photo, taken at one of their largest shows and the photo was taken from the crowd's perspective. The camera had been pointed towards the stage, but the lights were blinding and all that could be seen was five outlines of the girls and then the crowd. Hands were in the air and as Luxe thought about the cover she could hear their cheering now.

The Dolls album would be their big return to glory-as Alex put it-with a huge tour spanning several countries. It had been announced where they were going-UK first, then three months around the US, back over to the UK, Europe and then they would get in to uncharted territory.
Russia and then South America would cap everything off. There were talks of a summer on Warped, which would always be fun to Luxe.

Now they just needed to nail down who it was they were touring with.

"I like it. I really can't wait to hear the album-Andy's played me snippets over the phone, but he refuses to play an entire song for me." Luxe said, whining playfully as she crossed her arms and glared at Andy. He only smirked, kissing her on the head lightly.

"To be fair we haven't heard it complete either. Bob is being very secretive about the whole thing and he's been working like a mad man to get it all finished." Ashley said to her from across the room and Luxe only nodded.

Jimmy was now starting to become the same way with the Doll's now finished album-must be a producer thing.

"You girls just finished your album, right?" Jinxx asked and Luxe smiled proudly. Their last day in the studio had been yesterday and the girls had all celebrated with two bottles-Champagne and Sparkling Cider.

"Yesterday. We topped it off with Rock Show. I'm not sure how Jimmy's going to order everything for the record, but I know he'll keep certain things in mind." Luxe said and then a hush fell over the room as the door popped open and Bob Rock walked through. His blonde hair ruffled and sticking up in odd areas.

"Why's everyone so quiet?" Bob asked as he walked into the room, a smirk on his lips as he set his stuff down on a small table and then walked over to the mixing board.

"Dude!" Jake said and Bob only shook his head as he held something up for all of them to see.
It was a thumbdrive and Luxe knew what that meant-it was time.

All of the guys shifted in their seats, trying to get comfortable and not seem as nervous, but Luxe couldn't blame them for being excited. They had worked really hard on this one-not that they hadn't on previous albums-and it had brought a closeness back to the band that Luxe hadn't seen since that first summer of touring with them. The guys had grown apart-caught up in their own bravado and Luxe knew that Andy had a very large piece of humble pie that he had to swallow.

"I just spent all night getting everything finished, so I hope you guys appreciate it." Bob joked as he plugged the drive in to the computer and then moved the mouse around to get things going.

"We really do appreciate all of your hard work Bob. You've pushed us, but I think it was something that we all really needed." Andy said as he reached out and grabbed Luxe's hand. Bob had pushed Andy alot-almost to a breaking point and Luxe would never forget the night he called her, on the ledge of his career and ready to jump off in anger and frustration.

"Yeah, I don't think I've ever played this well-hopefully I can keep it up for the tour coming up." Jake said and they all laughed. The guitarist had shredded his heart out on this one and it would be a trial of love to keep it all up for the massive crowds to come.

"Alright-it's ready." Bob said and everyone became silent and just sat back as the record went in to the first song.

Everything was fast, loud and mean-Luxe loved it. Heart Of Fire was amazing, but Faithless made her want to thrash her head around-she loved it. Those would be the first two singles to be released, probably either tonight or tomorrow and Luxe knew that the fans would love it. As the record played on, Luxe noticed that Andy seemed to grow more and more nervous. Just as Devil In The Mirror finished up, Andy turned to her and whispered in her ear.

"This next song I wrote with you in mind. I kept your struggles with me when I was up all night writing one night and this just came out. I hope it gives you strength and shows you how proud I am of you Luce." Andy said and Luxe only smiled as she kissed his lips and stared him in the eye.

"What's it called?" She asked, trying to keep her smile light. Of course they wrote songs for one another, but Luxe didn't think Andy would do that this time around. Done For You was her favorite song of all time and she didn't think he would ever be able to top himself.

"Goodbye Agony..." Andy said softly and Luxe only smiled.

The song began to play and Luxe knew then and there that Andy did love her...just in his own way.

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
