Love And Other Drugs

Always...

Luxe sighed as she turned over in her bed, her plush covers still pulled up under her chin, but there was a soft smile on her lips. She had gotten home incredibly late last night and her house sitter, Karlie, was fast asleep in the guest room. Luxe had left her bags by the front door so that Karlie would know she was home and it was obvious as there was a delicious scent of brewing coffee wafting up the stairs from the kitchen.

Luxe moved to sit up, groaning as she thought about all of the laundry she had to get done over the next few days. Andy wasn't around and the girls were all dispersed so there would be no distractions. Luxe was looking forward to the time off-the girls would be getting in to the studio in a month and then the entire summer would be spent working on the new record, videos and new merch.

Luxe stretched her arms over her head and smiled to herself.

Andy would be home in two weeks and then the two of them could spend as much time together as they wanted. Luxe placed her feet on the floor, hissing at the cold but soon enough her feet were warm in her faux fur lined slippers. Luxe gathered her thin robe around her shoulders, her blonde hair laying flat on her head-she couldn't wait to get in the shower. For now though she needed coffee and Luxe whistled as she walked out in to the hall and made her way down the stairs.

The stairwell was lined with a lot of photos-some with happy memories and some with sad memories attached to them. The first time the girls got on stage-a photo of Luxe at the mic with Pixie and Char in the background. A photo of the girls in Berlin-a dark time for Luxe as she barely remembered being in the city. Pictures of she and Andy together-promotional shots of them and a few personal photos and finally Luxe's pride and Joy, a blown up version of her on the cover of Revolver Magazine.

"Morning." Luxe said to the girl who was standing at the counter and filling two mugs with black liquid. Karlie was cute-a friend of Pixie's who had agreed to house sit for Luxe while the singer was on the road-with long red blonde hair, a slim face and bright big blue eyes.

"Morning. Here-figured you'd want a good cup of coffee." Karlie said with a smile as she handed over a mug. Luxe took it, adding sugar and cream before placing the cup beneath her nose and inhaling. They didn't get coffee all the time on the road and when they did it was usually gas station grade.

"You're amazing. How was Feather while I was gone? Anything happen?" Luxe asked before taking a sip and closing her eyes. Pure heaven.

"Everything went fine-I came back from work one night to find her tangled in the living room curtains, but other than that it's been quiet. Happy to be home?" She asked and Luxe nodded. Boy was she ever.

"Very. I love to tour, but being around those girls for more than a month at a time can be a bit much." Luxe said as she looked around and smiled. Her place was finally starting to look like a home-pictures on the walls, decorative touches and she even had a house plant that she hadn't killed yet.

All she needed was Andy.

"I'll bet. When is Andy coming home?" Karlie asked as she drained her cup and reached for Luxe's empty one. The blonde stayed where she was, staring off in to space. Feather was now weaving around her ankles-silently begging for a scratch behind her ears.

"Two weeks. They're in New Zealand now, then flying over to Asia for a few dates." Luxe said as she watched Karlie was the cups out and set them on the draining board on the side of the sink. The small girl came back to the bar, taking a seat and smiling brightly at Luxe. Karlie was always so happy-it was really nice being around someone like that.

"Sounds like a blast. Well I gotta get to work, but call me some time and we can go shopping or something." Karlie said with a smile as she wrapped her arms around Luxe's neck and then grabbed her coat. Luxe watched as the red headed girl disappeared through the front door and then Luxe realized that she was alone.

Luxe sat at the counter for a few minutes, just staring off in to space. She was alone-so many weeks spent around other people and suddenly Luxe felt very, very alone. Of course there were things that needed to be done-laundry being the main thing-but for now Luxe couldn't get over the fact that she could come and go as she pleased. No more fighting over the television or having to listen to Char and Pixie as they argued over who cheated during some video game. No Mads scoffing at her every time Luxe declined a drink or other party favor.

The silence was amazing and yet absolutely terrifying.

Luxe reached down, picking up the pure white cat that was still begging for attention and soon enough Feather was purring in her lap loudly. Should she get up and get another cup of coffee? Or should she crawl back in to bed and sleep the day away? Luxe sighed as she looked towards the door and saw that her two large suitcases were still sitting there, waiting for her to come and open them.

Groaning, Luxe rose from her spot, wincing as Feather jumped down, digging her claws in to Luxe's thigh. The singer eyed the cat, who was now sitting on the bottom step licking herself, as she passed by and reached down to grab for her first bag. Thankfully the washer and dryer were on the first floor and so with swift movements Luxe unzipped the case, dumped her clothing in the middle of the floor and moved on to the next one.

As she sifted through the clothing-trying to separate the best she could-Luxe stopped once her fingers crossed over the rough leather of Andy's old tour vest. He had given it to her at the start of her tour-something to keep around so she could have a piece of him with her-and looking at it now was making her eyes well up.

Times with Andy had been up and they had been down, but the main thing was is that they were together now and stronger than ever. Luxe stayed seated in the middle of her living room, the leather vest pulled in to her chest and she couldn't help but let a few tears roll down her cheeks.

She and Andy had talked about starting to move to the next level, but Luxe wasn't so sure that things were going to work out in their favor. She loved Andy, but he was always gone and so was she-they would only see one another every few months and how were they supposed to start a family if they never saw one another? It was in that moment that Luxe knew she was going to have to give up the Dolls at some point to make things work and that thought only made her cry harder.

The girls were a pain in her ass, but Luxe loved the band and she loved their fans even more. Through her crying Luxe managed to hear her phone trilling from across the room. With Andy's vest still held to her chest, Luxe rooted around in her bag and pulled out her ringing phone.

"Hello?" She asked, sniffing loudly to try and clear her throat.

"Babe? Luce? What's wrong?" It was Andy. Why was Andy calling her right now? Wasn't he supposed to be on stage or asleep-Luxe didn't even know what time it was over there.

"N-nothing. I'm home and just feeling down." Luxe said, lying through her teeth. Not only was she lying to Andy, but really she was lying more to herself.

"Oh-post tour blues. Gotcha. I wanted to call you before we get ready for tonight. Miss me yet?" He asked and Luxe only smiled as she sat back down on the floor and held his vest close.

"Of course babe. Always." Luxe said, smiling through her tears. Andy sounded so happy-he loved being on the road and he loved being in front of his fans.
How could Luxe take that away from him?

"Well look, I'll be home in about two weeks and I was thinking maybe we should sit down and talk." Andy said, his tone playful but serious all at the same time. Luxe swallowed the lump in her throat-this couldn't be good.

"Sounds good. You know where to find me." Luxe said, trying to hold back the tears that kept threatening to reappear.

"I do. I love you Luce...I'll call you after I get off stage." Andy said, a gleeful tone to his voice.

"Love you too..." Luxe said before a dial tone filled her ears and she sat there, surrounded by dirty clothes and a head filled with memories and thoughts.

Andy loved being on the road and Luxe knew to make things work she couldn't travel around much longer. The Dolls days were numbered-but how much longer would they last?

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
