Love And Other Drugs
Goodbyes Are The Hardest
A misting southern Florida rain fell down on their heads as the couple outside of the mammoth bus embraced one another. A small girl, her damp blonde hair hanging around her shoulders, sticking to her tear stained face as the taller male held on to her tightly. His leather jacket was ancient, but still held a style in its wrinkly folds. Even though it was raining and even though the taxi was beeping it's horn, the couple refused to budge.
"Please don't leave me." Luxe said softly, her face planted against Andy's chest and he only sighed as he lifted his head up and looked towards the sky.
"If I could stay with you I would babe...you know I don't want to leave..." Andy whispered as his head tilted down towards hers. Luxe moved her face so that they were looking at one another and her tears only intensified.
"Then stay...stay with me until we finish in LA and we can both go home together." Luxe said through her tears and Andy could only smile. It wouldn't work-he and the guys had to get ready for their own tour in a few weeks. There just wasn't time.
"Luce you know I can't do that. I have my own tour I have to get ready for." Andy said as he rubbed his hands up and down her back.
This revelation-the fact that Andy wouldn't be home when she was finished-made Luxe cry even harder. Here they were, standing outside the Miami Hilton in the rain, crying while people passing on the sidewalk stared at them. Luxe had wanted to go to the airport with Andy, but his flight conflicted with an interview that she had to get ready for and so they had to quickly say their goodbyes.
Luxe had hoped to join Andy on the road, flying out to Australia which was where the guys were going to, but Alex had stepped in with another plan. Luxe would be getting in to the studio to do some voice over work for a concert DVD that the girls were putting out. That combined with other obligations like magazine shoots and appearances as a guest artist for other bands meant that Luxe wouldn't see Andy until the guys would return home in early March.
Thankfully the two bands were scheduled to be in the studio over the summer at the same time and for the most part at the same place. The guys were trying to get Bob Rock-who they all admired immensely-to work on their album while the girls were getting Jon Feldmann to produce on their own record.
Luxe was excited to work with Jon as he had done the guys third album and she had met him a few times when she had hung around Andy. The girls already had six demos written for the new record and some of them they had been performing on the current tour. The girls knew they would tour in the fall and they were all really hoping to jump on a tour with BVB-their brothers and family.
Luxe held on to Andy, her fingers gripping on to him as tightly as she could and a low whine escaped her lips as he tried to move away from her. It was time to go-they both knew it and neither of them wanted it. The past three weeks had been amazing and last night as Luxe sat on that stage and dedicated a beautiful song to him, Andy knew that this was the girl he would spend the rest of his life with.
Passionate, driven, and filled with fire-Luxe was everything he needed in a woman and so much more. She made him laugh, she made him cry and scream and most of all she made him feel like he could just be himself. He wasn't The Prophet with her, nor was he Andy Black or Andy Six-he was just Andy, the geeky guy who liked to pull funny faces and lounge around watching Batman cartoons.
With Luxe, Andy was whole and he couldn't imagine not having her in his life.
"It's time Luce..." Andy said as he held her at arms length and placed a soft kiss to her forehead. Luxe was almost beet red in the face and Andy smirked-she would have to completely redo her makeup before her interview in a few hours.
"No..." She said, closing her eyes and shaking her head as she gripped his hands. He couldn't leave...she couldn't be without him.
"Yes. I love you. Remember-you are strong, you are brave and you are here to kickass." Andy said and she smiled as her red rimmed grey eyes opened and looked him in the face. She was beautiful, even with her makeup running rivers down her cheeks.
"I love you too. Promise you'll call me when you land?" She asked and he only laughed and bent down to pick up his now rain soaked bag.
"I promise."
"And every night before bed?"
"Yes Luce...every night."
They kissed then, their lips melting together until, for just a moment, they were one person and everything continued to be right in the world. Oh how wrong they were...
