Love And Other Drugs

A Food Fight To End All Food Fights

The large ballroom at the Four Seasons hotel was filled with a loudness that seemed to follow this tour everywhere and Luxe loved every minute of it. They were all seated at a long table, covered in crisp white linen and red napkins which were folded and placed on the perfect china plates. It was fancy, so much more fancy than Luxe was used to and she only smiled as she looked at the people surrounding her. The entire tour was here-everyone from sound to the merch kids.

Luxe was seated in between Andy, who was rubbing the top of her hand with his softly as he spoke to Rian about something, and then Char was on her other side, the purple haired guitarist laughing at something Jack was joking about. All of the girls were having a good time and Luxe was just happy to see everyone enjoying themselves without the presence of alcohol.

Andy had requested that there not be any at this dinner and while the guys from ATL had resisted, it was agreed upon that it would be better if everyone was sober.

Alex was sitting at the head of the table, like the king he thought he was and Luxe only rolled her eyes as she sipped at her water and looked up and towards the doorway. Waiters, dressed in fine pressed suit jackets, were walking towards the table with huge platters in their hands, which they swiftly deposited on the table in front of the large group. Luxe's stomach grumbled as she smelled the amazing scent of turkey, ham, potatoes and everything else that one usually had on a special day like Christmas Eve.

Before anyone could dig in to their feast, a small tinkling noise sounded out from the head of the table. Luxe turned her head to face that direction and rolled her eyes as she noticed that Alex was standing up, taping his fork against his water glass.

"Attention everyone-I would like to say a few words." Alex said and looked down at them all.

"Of course he would..." Char spoke to Luxe lowly, both girls giggling and then stopping as Alex shot them a glare from across the room.

"I just want everyone here to know how genuinely happy I am that we're all here together on this night, enjoying one another and having some relaxing fun. To my girls-it's been a wild road these past few years, but we've made the best of it and I know this third album coming up is going to be our best yet. To all of the crew-thank you so much for all of your hard work and dedication. To the boys of ATL-a truly talented group has opened their arms for my girls in their time of need and I will forever be grateful. Thanks everyone and Merry Christmas." Alex finished and they all raised their glasses to the final toast.

"Merry Christmas!" They all said in unison.

"...and god bless us, everyone." Jack finished and the group all laughed before moving to grab for the nearest serving fork.

Luxe smiled as Andy took her plate, giving her that small half smirk as he piled the food high before setting it down in front of her. Everyone was silent as they ate and while Luxe was enjoying her meal, she couldn't help but think about something that Alex had said in his little speech.

What had he meant when he thanked the ATL guys for helping the Dolls out in their time of need? The girls had done well for themselves-they had just gotten off playing main stage for Warped the previous summer and were going to spend the following one working hard in the studio.

How were they in need?

"Hey, Alex...psst." Luxe said quietly to the singer across from her. Alex Gaskarth smirked at her as he swallowed his food and then leaned forward, his eyes shining in the dim light.

"Why are you 'psssting' me like we're in detention?" He asked and Luxe only rolled her eyes and pulled off a piece of her roll.

"Because I need to borrow your notes for tomorrow-I need to talk to you without Alex noticing...duh." She rolled her eyes at the singer and he only stuck his tongue out at her. The pair had developed a brother sister relationship, which had put Andy's mind at ease very quickly.

"What do you need to know?" Alex asked, leaning even more towards her and Luxe quickly looked towards the head of the table before speaking. Alex was speaking to the head of their sound board and didn't seem to even be paying attention to the table.

"Alex said something to you guys just now-thanking you for helping us in our time of need...what the fuck does that mean?" She asked and Luxe noticed that now all of her bandmates were leaning forward, waiting for Alex's answer. He seemed nervous, looking towards Jack who only nodded at him, before giving her his answer.

"Look, I don't know everything, but our manager Matt told me that he got a call from Alex early in the fall, panicked because he couldn't book you guys on any upcoming tours. He said something about you girls being labeled trouble makers and no one wanted to book you. Matt felt like that was unfair so he made space for you on our American tour." Alex explained and Luxe felt her stomach clench.

This had been all her fault. She and the girls had ruined their reputations with other bands and record labels and now no one, or barely anyone, wanted to deal with them at this point. They had partied too hard, trashed too many hotel rooms and just been an overall nightmare on previous tours. They had been well behaved last summer on Warped, but they had all been sober and Kevin Lynman ran a very tight ship and didn't put up with anything from anyone.

How long was it going to take for the girls to shed their bad girl image? Luxe knew that they probably never would and that fact crushed her. She dropped her fork to her plate, the clinking ringing out in the almost hushed room and she felt Andy's wrap an arm around her shoulders. He had heard it all and she couldn't help but wonder if he and the guys felt the same way about the Dolls.

They were a liability and probably would always be seen as such.

"Hey..." Someone was saying to her, but Luxe was ignoring everything around her. She was more focused on not crying her eyes out or seeming as devastated as she actually was.

"Luxe..." There was that voice again. Luxe knew it wasn't Andy because currently his lips were pressed against her temple gently and he never called her Luxe-he always called her Luce.

"Don't ignore me bitch..." The tone was playful, but serious and Luxe blinked as something hit her square in the forehead and her eyes scanned down to the table in front of her. A small piece of bread was laying there and as she looked up, Luxe noticed that Mads was glaring at her, a small roll in her calloused hands.

"Did you really just hit me with a piece of bread?" Luxe asked finally, looking up and glaring at the drummer sitting across the table and two seats down from her.

"You bet your skinny ass I did. Snap out of it Luxe-this is not the end of the world." Mads said and Luxe noticed that Pixie and Lulu were both nodding their heads in agreement.

"She's right Luxe...we'll get past this. People won't hold a grudge for that long." Char seemed to be reassuring her, but Luxe couldn't take her eyes off of Mads.

Suddenly a whole roll was flying through the hair, smacking Mads on the shoulder and Luxe was trying to hold back her laughter. A huff escaped Mads' lips before she picked up her fork, placed some mashed potatoes on the end and flung them towards Luxe. A hush fell over the end of their table as the target was missed and the entire side of Zac's face was covered in gooey potato. Luxe's eyes grew wide as the bassist glared at them all and then picked up a pile of corn and tossed it towards Jack.

The guitarist laughed until the corn hit him in the chest and then all of a sudden the table exploded into an all out food fight. Luxe dodged out of the way as potatoes, rolls, turkey, ham, noodles and other edibles flew through the air, but she knew that she had been hit in the back of the head when something wet seemed to clump in her hair. Turning to face the culprit, Luxe gasped as mashed potatoes were thrust into her face and Andy was now laughing loudly at her.

"Andy!" She said, potato falling off the tip of her nose and splattering on the top of her boots. Her boyfriend only laughed until Luxe reached forward, grabbing for the small bowl of gravy and dumped it on top of his head.

"Luce!" He growled, reaching for her quickly before she could run off. He wrapped his hands around her waist, pulling her towards him until she was pressed against his chest and both of them were looking at one another. The chaos around them continued, with Alex McFadden shouting to try and calm things down before they ruined any of the expensive furniture or carpet.

"Does this seem familiar to you?" She asked him and Andy thought it over for a minute. A smile crossed his gravy covered lips and then he leaned in and pressed a sweet kiss to Luxe's potato covered ones.

"Our first date..." He said as he pulled away from her and Luxe only giggled.

"I was such a bitch to you." She said, a blush creeping across her nose and Andy only smiled. It wasn't untrue, but he hadn't been much of a prince either.

"Yeah, but it all worked out in the end." He said and Luxe only laughed. The food fight seemed to be dying down and Alex had disappeared from the room to try and do some damage control.

"I never asked-how long did it take you to get all of that pasta out of your hair?" She asked and Andy only smiled before placing another kiss to her lips.

"Only two showers, but I kept finding pieces of tomato in my hair for a few days after that." He said, thinking back to the time after that fated set up. He had hated Luxe and had vowed to Ash and CC that he would never speak to the girl ever again.

"I really am sorry about that Andy." Luxe said and Andy only smiled. This was the first time she had ever apologized for that dinner and he could only laugh and nod his head at her.

"Forgiven." He said simply as they kissed again but then stopped as Char appeared at their side.

"Hey, lovebirds. Sorry to break up the makeout session, but we need to get out of here before Alex gets back with the staff. I don't need to hear his bitching tonight." Char said and the couple only nodded as they parted and followed the collective group out of the once pristine ballroom.

Andy and Luxe headed towards the elevators, ignoring that withering looks they were getting from other guests and the hotel staff and they could only giggle as the doors shut infront of them and they were headed towards their shared room. Andy only had another week with Luxe before he had to head home and get ready for the guys tour in Australia, which was a bitter sweet thought.

Andy loved Australia, but he hated the thought of leaving Luxe, so he was conflicted. The only good thing would be that by the time the guys returned back to LA, Luxe and the Dolls would also be home and would stay home throughout the summer. The two bands were recording albums at the same time, which was an awesome thing because that meant they could all hang out together during the entire process.

As Andy entered the room behind Luxe, his mouth dropped open once he realized that she was shedding her clothes and swaying her way to the bathroom to shower. With a quick smile, Andy followed suit and began to try and settle in for a very long, but very love filled Christmas Eve.

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
