Love And Other Drugs

Together

The world was in a whiteout as Luxe looked out the bus windows and took everything in. The trees, their long skinny branches bare and bone-like, were covered in snow and ice, as was everything else in the world. Massachusetts had gotten a surprise snow storm over night and the tour was at a standstill in the venue parking lot until they could get the plows in and some of the wind died down.

The girls were all driving one another crazy-Char and Pixie would not stop screeching at one another as they played their video game, while Mads was sitting across from Andy and Luxe at the kitchen table, tapping her pencil against the wood as if it were her drum kit.

It had been three days since Luxe had found out about her father and the subject was still slightly touchy. Andy wanted Luxe to take Alex at his offer, rent a car and drive down to NC for the funeral in three more days. The girls also agreed with this sentiment, but Luxe was being stubborn. She wasn't going to put herself back in that worthless town and she sure as shit wasn't going to mourn the loss of someone who, at one point, couldn't of cared if she had lived or died.

No, Luxe was okay with writing her feelings out and was hoping that when they got to the next venue, that she and the girls could perform an acoustic version of the song on stage. Char had helped her with the chords and it was all sounding good-another song to add to the new record in the summer. Andy had been very supportive, giving Luxe space when she needed it, but he was always right there for her when she needed to cry.

There hadn't been a lot of crying lately for Luxe, as she didn't really feel too terrible about her father dying, but every once and a while she would get teary eyed. Andy would hold her, bringing her against his chest, where he would then run his hands up and down her back slowly until she felt better. Luxe smiled to herself as she continued to look out the window, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she noticed that the storm seemed to of stopped.

"Looks like it stopped out there." Someone said from beside her and Luxe only smiled as she turned and was almost nose to nose with Andy.

"Yeah...wanna go play?" Luxe teased, wiggling her eyebrows at Andy. He chuckled and then suddenly was standing up with her hands in his. Andy tugged, grunting as Luxe playfully put on some resistance so that Andy had to work for it.

"Andy I wasn't serious..." Luxe said as Andy reached down to a chair near the door and handed Luxe her pink and black stripped scarf and a pair of thick black gloves. Soon enough the two of them were bundled up and Andy was pushing Luxe towards the bus door.

It was a completely different world outside-every building, post and car was completely covered in a thick layer of pristine snow that had yet to be touched. Luxe stood on the very bottom step of the bus, Andy was behind her with his hands on her shoulders and the two of them just stood by and looked around outside. Living in California for so long-Andy always became so mesmerized by the snow and he knew that Luxe felt the same way.

With sudden movement coming from behind her, Luxe found herself falling towards the snowy ground and she growled as she landed and heard Andy chuckle from behind her. There was at least three feet of snow, so she had a soft landing, but as Luxe laid there in the snow on her back, she felt a sudden sense of peace take her over. It was so quiet out here-everything was fresh and new and it was just such an amazing feeling.

"You are so dead!" Luxe called to Andy, giggling as she turned over so that all of her weight was on her knees. Her hands scooped down in to the snow, pushing the soft frozen liquid together until she had a palm sized snowball in her possession.

"I don't think so Luce!" Andy called to her from a few feet away and suddenly snow was flying through the air.

After ten minutes the two of them were completely out of breath and laying down in the snow, looking up at the slowly clearing sky. It would be Christmas in a week, then New Years and then it would be time for Andy to head back home. Where would that leave them? Luxe had been hoping that Andy would just stay on tour with her, but he and the guys were getting ready to head over to Australia in February and they had to start preparing for that.

Of course Luxe would miss Andy, but she knew that this was it for her-he was all she would ever need.

"The plows should be coming soon." Andy said, his gloved hands resting on his heaving chest as she looked towards Luxe. Her nose and cheeks were pink, her eyes watery, but there was a peaceful smile on her lips.

"What happens if we don't move?" She asked and Andy only smiled as their eyes locked. A few gentle snowflakes were still falling down towards them and the couple on continued to stare at one another.

"We die." He said simply.

For a moment Luxe stayed silent, her thoughts whirling around in her head-everything that she and Andy had ever been through. They had hated one another for a long time, loved one another deeply and had been through a lot together. In the end though it had all been worth it because she had been lucky enough to find that one person who understood her completely.

As the thundering sound of the snowplow came out of the distance, Luxe moved her face to look up at the sky and only smiled softly before answering.

"I'm okay with that."

Notes

Just a cute little chapter...until shit hits the fan.

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

I'm pretty sure I've done nothing but cry while reading these last few chapters. You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
