Love And Other Drugs

Getting Ready For Chaos

"Pixie! Give that back!" Someone shouted and Luxe only shook her head as she glanced down at her phone quickly before looking up and around the room.

The girls were now rehearsing for their coming tour with ATL and Luxe was reluctantly showing up every single day. All of the girls were pretty excited about the coming tour-all of them besides Luxe. She was excited to get back out there, but she wasn't happy that she would be missing Andy by two weeks and then not seeing him for a few months. Typically tours didn't happen over the Christmas Season because it gave the bands a chance to see their families, but Alex didn't think like that.

The way he saw it was the fact that plenty of fans would come and see the bands for Christmas and that their parents were more likely to buy them more merch as early presents. It was genius, but it also meant that the girls and the guys of ATL wouldn't be seeing their families for the holiday.

Luxe had cried for almost two hours after they had found out and not even hearing Andy's voice and soothing words had been able to calm her down. Finally his promise of joining her on the road-wherever they were around the 25th-made Luxe stop hyperventilating.

It had been hard enough being away from Andy while he was on tour and staying sober, but now that she was going on tour, Luxe wasn't too confident in herself. What if she slipped up? The girls had already said that they wanted to do a shot together every night on stage during their song Here's To Us and Luxe knew she couldn't opt out of it. Maybe she could talk to Alex about having her shot be something similar looking, but not alcohol.

That was a thought and slowly Luxe looked around and smiled.

Char and Mads were sitting over by the drum kit, Mads on her stool as she absentmindedly hit a top hat symbol. Char was tuning her guitar as they were getting ready to rehearse for the day. It would only be two more days before they hit the road and all of the girls were feeling the pretour buzz. They had decided to forgo any costumes or stage gimmicks-besides the shot-and to just get up there every night and perform. They weren't the headlining act, so there was a lot less pressure and it would just be easier for them.

Luxe was all for the no costume idea-she had grown tired of trying to look a certain way and it was getting stale for their fans. She had already packed most of her bags and they contained all of her normal day wear. T-shirts from various bands that she had cut in to tanks, sweaters for when they were up north and freezing their tits off, skinny jeans both with and without holes and rips, boots-so many fucking boots-and her two leather jackets. She knew that the other girls were packing similar things-except Lulu and Pixie would be including dresses and heels in their bags.

All in all it was bound to be pretty fun, except for the drinking.

"Here Luxe..." Someone said from behind her and as the singer turned from her seat on the edge of the stage, she smiled up at Lulu. The small black haired girl was handing her a piece of paper and as Luxe looked down, she saw that it was their official set list.

"Wow-it's so much smaller than normal."Luxe laughed as she looked it over and Lulu only nodded as the bassist took a seat. Both girls dangled their legs over the side of the stage, silence befalling them as they read over their new set list.

"I guess it's because we aren't headlining, but I'm okay with it. Playing fifteen songs every night gets really tiring by, like, week three. Ya know?" Lulu said and the two girls smirked at one another. Luxe was okay with this shortened list-it meant less time on stage and more time out with the fans.

"You have no idea how happy this makes me-my throat is usually killing me by, like, day four." Both girls laughed at this and Luxe knew that while funny, it was very true.

"Andy gave you that throat remedy recipe though-right?" Lulu asked and Luxe only nodded as she looked through her phone for the saved recipe. Andy had found this amazing-so he claimed-recipe for a throat remedy when he was sick the past tour and now he swore by it.

"Yep, honey, chai, cayenne pepper-it's all on the rider." Luxe said as she smirked up from her phone. Lulu looked disgusted and Luxe only laughed. It was going to be tough drinking that every night, but anything to keep her from getting sick.

"Have fun with that. Is Andy still planning on joining us for Christmas?" Lulu asked and Luxe only nodded.

It had been hard at first to believe that they could make it work, but Andy was really good at convincing Luxe and keeping her calm, which the other girls were thankful for. The tour was starting in LA tomorrow night at the Nokia-November 5th-they would then wind their way up north towards Oregon, go across the northern states like North Dakota and Michigan, go to Maine and then start going down south towards Florida.

The Midwest would be the last leg of the tour, ending down in Texas where the girls would then take off and head to the UK. Andy would hopefully be there with her before they headed over seas.

He would be with her for the week leading up to Christmas and then the following week until New Years. Then around the 3rd of January Andy was flying back home to LA to start rehearsals for BVB's spring touring, which meant Luxe would have to finish out the tour on her own. It made her sad, but there was little to be done about it.

The girl's tour was ending in the early spring in Asia and then they would be flying back home, resting for a few weeks and then it would be time to get in to the studio.

That was the part that Luxe was looking forward to the most-being in the studio. She loved to create and she loved to play around, so getting in the studio with Curtis and just being able to try new things was her dream come true. The girls didn't have a producer just yet, but they were looking in to some older rock producers who had helped out the likes of Motely Crue, Guns and Roses and even Metallica.

The Dolls were looking to go heavier and get back to their rock roots, so Luxe was excited to see what they could come up with.

"Is that your phone?" Lulu asked and Luxe jumped, lost in her own thoughts. A familiar ringing noise was filling the room and Luxe only blushed as she pulled her phone out of her pocket and looked at the screen.

Andy was calling and her heart soared-she hadn't heard much from him over the past few days.

"Babe!" She giggled in to the phone and her heart nearly melted as Andy's soft chuckle filled her ears.

"Hey Luce... how're rehearsals going?" He asked and Luxe almost died when he uttered her nickname. It was so weird, feeling this way about someone, but for some reason she and Andy just clicked. They fought almost every day, which Char was always quick to point out, but it always seemed to work itself out and they did love one another.

"Good, we haven't started today, but we did get the official set list." She said and Luxe swore she could almost hear Andy smirk over the other line of the phone.

"Yeah? Anything good?" He asked and Luxe quickly gave him the rundown of all the songs they would be performing. He asked about Here's To Us, which she explained was a new song they were playing around with for the new album and really wanted to get it on the list for the tour.

"Sounds like you girls have it all figured out." He stated and Luxe only smiled. Lulu had left her to her phone call and Luxe knew her time with Andy was limited-it always was.

"Almost. So how was Halloween? I haven't really gotten to talk to you about it. I saw the pictures...wish I'd been there for that blast from the past." Luxe giggled as she thought back to the photos of the guys floating around on tumblr. They had done a special Halloween show in Virginia, where it was just them and a few openers, but the cool thing was that the guys-who had been makeupless for some time-had put on their old warpaint.

"Ugh it was so amazing babe. I really miss playing smaller shows like that." Andy said and she could hear the longing in his voice. Luxe wouldn't know-the Dolls had started off on big stages, whereas BVB started out in smaller clubs for only a few hundred people.

"We were so close to the fans-there was no barrier, no security-just the fans and us. There was this one moment when Jake broke a few strings and I was the only one on the stage...I just started singing Savior and the entire room harmonized with me..." He sounded like he wanted to cry and Luxe's heart went out to him.

Andy was so wonderful with his fans and she knew that he really missed being able to connect with them on a smaller level. In the early days he was able to go out after a show and hang in the alley's behind the buildings, but not anymore. With the third album, BVB's fanbase had grown and any time they went out they were nearly mobbed. It made Andy sad because he loved his fans, but those girls could get really grabby and it was kind of scary.

"That sounds really amazing Andy. I wish I could've been there to see it." Luxe said and she truly meant it. She missed Andy and was now regretting not going out on the road with him, even if it would of only been for a short while.

"Me too, but hey I'll be coming out for two weeks soon-I know you miss me." He said, his tone teasing and Luxe could only smile. On the inside she was screaming because she did miss him and it was a struggle every day to just function normally.

"I know. Hey I gotta go rehearse, but I can call you a little later." She said and Luxe could hear the disappointment in Andy's voice. It was hard making this work, but they loved one another and it was worth it.

"K. Love you Luce..." He said and Luxe could only smile as she hung up, stood and went to do her job.

Notes

Seems like the girls are going okay...so far.

@Giacobra

I'm so glad you found this little gem. Sadly this was my last full story, but I do have a few other serial stories on this site which are different from this one, but just as well written. You can find all of them in my profile<3

So I can honestly say I didn't discover this story until recently. When I first started reading it I knew it would be one of my favorites from this site. I saw the sad ending coming but dear god I was still not prepared in any way. You wrote everything so genuinely and in a way that showed an amazing range of real and raw emotions. I may or may not have been crying profusely through the last chapters. This was a beautiful, bittersweet, and amazing story and I look forward to anything else you may ever decide to write. Thank you

I'm pretty sure I've done nothing but cry while reading these last few chapters. You do a wonderful job getting the reader emotionally involved in this story, and I'm really glad that I was able to read this wonderfully written piece. Thank you for all of the time and hard work that went into this story. It is definitely one of the best that I have read in a really long time.
