Pandora walked into work at eight thirty that Monday morning, she had a long shift today but at least she was getting paid a little bit more. She saw Collin approaching her with a smile on his face, he was really cute and sweet, Pandora felt her cheeks already heating up.
“Morning babe.” Collin greeted, once he reached her he kissed her cheek and made her blush harder.
“Morning baby, I missed you.”
“I missed you too, how’s Skye doing?” Collin said, placing his hand on her stomach. He didn’t feel her moving nor kicking, maybe she wore herself out?
“She’s good I believe.” Pandora replied with a smile.
“Well I’m glad, seems like she’ll be born in a few days.”
“I know it’s not long, do you want to come over later tonight and hang out?”
Collin smiled. “I like that idea, I’ll be there at nine.”
“Bring a movie please?”
“Horror?” Collin asked, she giggled.
“Yes, thank you babe.”
“No problem baby, I love you.”
“I love you too.”



Eight fifty-five
“Collin will be here soon.” Pandora said walking into the living room to see Andy sitting on the couch watching, you guessed it, Batman.
“What are you two going to do again?” He asked, his eyes not moving from the TV screen. He was hypnotized it seemed.
“Watch a movie and just hang out.” Pandora replied, sitting down beside him. Andy nodded without looking at her and even though it didn’t look like he was paying attention, he was, but he wasn’t going to miss a bit of Batman.
“How are you two doing?” He asked, he was talking about their relationship of course.
“We’re good I believe.”
“Is it serious?” Andy asked her, she shrugged her shoulders.
“I think so, or I’d like to think so.”
Andy chuckled. “Make sure you’re positive about him, okay?”
Pandora smiled and looked at him, he was so protective it was a little cute.
“I will, thanks Andy,” she said, then the doorbell rang and she pulled herself up from the couch to answer the door. She unlocked the door and turned the doorknob and pulled it open to see Collin standing there with a smile, a movie in his hand. “Hey, come on in.”
Collin stepped inside and gave her a quick kiss then pulled away, she closed the door and turned around to face him.
“You look comfortable.” He said with a chuckle, looking at her pajamas.
“I am very comfortable,” she said, then she started to head towards the kitchen as he followed her. “We have popcorn, should we make some?”
“Sure.” Collin replied, he was going to agree to whatever she wanted of course. She put the popcorn bag into the microwave and started it, then looked for a bowl.
“What movie did you get?”
“It’s called The Final, seems interesting.” Collin replied, Pandora smiled and grabbed a bowl from the cabinet and sat it on the counter. Then she walked over to the refrigerator and grabbed two cans of Coke, popcorn and coke, what else would be better? Once the popcorn was done, she poured the popcorn into the bowl then grabbed it while Collin carried the drinks. They headed upstairs to her bedroom and got comfortable on the bed after putting in the movie, the room was dark and they laid side by side on the bed sharing the popcorn. The movie was alright so far but Pandora kept dozing off so when she felt the mattress move, she jumped and her eyes snapped opened.
“Sorry babe, but it’s midnight. I should go home and get some sleep, I’ll see you tomorrow. Goodnight babe, sweet dreams.” Collin said, he kissed her temple then got up from the bed and left the room and ran into Andy in the hallway. He jumped back and looked up at Andy, he was so tall it was scary.
“You leaving?” Andy asked him suspiciously, Collin nodded and felt apprehensive and awkward. He wasn’t sure if Andy liked him or he was just looking out for Pandora, maybe a little bit of both.
“Yeah, I have work tomorrow.”
Andy nodded with his arms crossed, looking at Collin with his light blue eyes. “Is she asleep?”
Collin nodded. “Just about, she’s on the edge of it.”
“That’s good, well, goodnight Collin.”
“Night Andy.” Collin said then he walked past him, Andy smirked evilly.
“I’m watching you, Collin.” He said lowly, Collin looked at him for a second then kept on walking. Andy chuckled proudly, he loved scaring people like that, Especially Pandora’s boyfriend. Since it was so late Andy decided to go to bed and Pandora was asleep already so there was nothing to do, he walked into his bedroom and closed the door halfway to see Buttercup and Crow asleep on his bed. He sighed, knowing he would have to share his bed tonight with the cats but that was his life.
“Seriously guys? Can you move over a bit?” Andy said to them, Crow’s eyes opened and she just looked at Andy while he took off his jeans and changed into some Batman pajama pants. “I guess that was a no?” He asked, pulling the sheets back. He shook his head side to side, then climbed into bed.




Three forty-five AM.
Pandora’s eyes opened to feel cramp-like pains, she lifted up and turned on the lamp on the nightstand. Something wasn’t right and when she moved to get off the bed she felt wetness between her legs and right then she knew she was in labor, she felt her heart pounding. Was she ready for this? It was a little bit too late to be questioning that now because Skye was ready obviously, but she was worried, what if something was wrong? She was going into labor early.
“Andy!” She shouted loudly, probably loud enough for the neighbors to hear. She got up from the bed and approached her dresser to get pants, she may be in labor but she wasn’t going to the hospital in Eeyore pajama pants. The door opened quickly, slamming against the wall but Andy didn’t care.
“What’s wrong?” He asked quickly in concern, he woke up real quick.
“My water broke, I’m in labor.” Pandora said, her words slightly stuttering since she was so apprehensive and scared.
“What?!” Andy asked in disbelief, she grabbed some black pants and turned to look at Andy.
“Yes, I’m positive. Something is coming out and I’m sure that’s my water and I think I’m having contractions.”
Andy made a disgusting face. “Gross, I’ll go get dressed and we’ll go to the hospital.” Andy said, running out of the room quickly.
“Call Ashley please?!”
“Yeah!” Andy shouted back, she changed into her pants then slipped on her flip-flops. She grabbed her phone then turned off the lamp and headed towards the nursery, she didn’t know what to pack but she had an idea. She grabbed some diapers she had bought a week ago, baby wipes, and baby clothes to bring Skye home in. She felt the contractions again and groaned slightly, right now they felt like cramps but she knew they would get worse. Andy suddenly appeared and he held his phone in his hand, he looked like he was in shock and he looked concern.
“He won’t pick up.” He hissed slightly in frustration, he joined Pandora’s side and helped her out of the room.
“Of course he won’t.”
Andy helped her down the stairs and then he pressed Ashley’s contact again and put the phone to his ear, he grabbed his car keys then unlocked and opened the door. Pandora stepped outside into the warm air and headed towards the mustang, she opened the passenger door and got into the seat while Andy did the same.
“Ash it’s Andy, wake your ass up! Pandora is in labor and we’re heading to the hospital as we speak, call when you get this message.” Andy told the voicemail then he hung up, he sighed loudly then started the engine.
“Don’t rush Andy.”
“I’m trying not to, I feel like this is my child.” Andy said with an apprehensive chuckle, Pandora smiled as he pulled out of the driveway.
“I’m worried, why am I going into labor early?”
“I don’t know, I just hope she’s fine.” Andy said, frowning a bit in concern. Pandora grabbed her cell phone then dialed Anne’s cell phone number and pressed the Send button, she held the phone to her ear and on the third ring Anne answered.
“This is Anne Parkers, who am I speaking with?” Anne said, she sounded wide awake for some reason.
“Anne it’s Pandora, my water broke.”
“I knew that little Skye would come early for some reason, have you had any contractions yet?” Anne said.
“Yes I woke up feeling it.”
“Can you describe the pain you’re feeling, it can probably tell me how long your water has been broke.”
“It’s like cramps I guess, it’s not bad, but it hurts.” Pandora explained.
“Good, that’s good. Now are you on your way to the hospital?”
“Yes.”
“On the ride there I want you to time how far apart the contractions are, okay?”
“Okay.” Pandora replied, sounding apprehensive.
“I’m already at the hospital so I’ll be right at the door when you arrive, be careful, bye.”
Once Pandora hung up, she looked at Andy.
“What did she say?”
“I need to time the contractions on how far apart they are.”
“Okay, when was the last contraction?”
“In the nursery before you showed up,” Pandora replied, then she felt another pain and she let out a breath. “Another one just now.”
“I’m going to say they’re ten minutes apart,” Andy said, then suddenly his cell phone started ringing and he answered quickly. “You need to answer the phone as soon as I call!”
“I know, but what’s going on?” Ashley said, sounding half asleep.
“Pandora’s water broke and we’re on the way to the hospital right now.”
“What?! Already?! It’s early!”
“We know, but you better get there soon, we’re close.” Andy said.
“Alright I’m on my way.” Ashley said, then the call ended. Andy hung up then looked at Pandora quickly then back at the road.
“He’s on his way, are you nervous?”
“Very nervous.”
When they arrived at the hospital Andy parked in the parking lot instead of the parking garage, he cut off the engine then hopped out of the mustang quickly and ran around to Pandora’s door. He helped her out of the mustang and even carried the bag for her, he locked the doors then they headed across the parking lot to the hospital. It was now four in the morning and Pandora knew she would have to call her work in a few hours to let them know she’s not coming in, they walked through the automatic doors and saw Anne immediately. She had a smile on her face and she approached Pandora, taking her hand.
“I got a room for you already, and I checked you in.” Anne said, Pandora smiled.
“Thank you Anne.”
“And whose this man?” Anne asked, leading Pandora towards the elevator while Andy followed.
“A good friend of mine, we live together.”
The elevator doors opened and they stepped inside and Anne pressed a number.
“You have a lot of guys in your life Pandora.”
“You have no idea.” Andy said.
“Have you timed your contractions?”
“We’re pretty sure they’re ten minutes apart.” Pandora replied, Anne smiled.
“That’s good, she may be here quicker than we think. Is the father on his way?”
“Yes he is.” Pandora replied, the doors opened and Anne stepped out while Andy and Pandora followed. They followed Anne until Pandora gasped a bit and stopped walking, holding her stomach. Andy put his arm around her and rubbed her back.
“Are you okay?” Anne asked, Pandora nodded and took a deep breath. “We’re almost there.”
They reached the room and it was a decent size room and very clean, Andy sat the bag in a corner while Anne grabbed a hospital gown.
“I’m going to go wait for Ashley, okay?” Andy said, Pandora nodded and he walked towards the door.
“Andy, will you take my phone and call Collin?” Pandora asked, holding out her phone. Andy took the phone then left the room quickly.
“He’s cute,” Anne said, then she handed Pandora the gown. “You can change in the bathroom.”
Pandora took the gown and headed towards the bathroom to change, this was it, this was what she’s been waiting for, for nine months now…
