Turn Out The Lights

The Call and The Offer That Can't Be Refused (Part 2.)

Andy’s POV

Week one complete my captivity. Actually, it wasn’t that bad. I mean I could go outside and we could go to stores and stuff in certain parts of the city but as long as one of the girls were with us so it wasn’t so much captivity as it was…babysitting?
I sat up in my bed and looked at the clock. Four in the fucking morning; I’m usually never awake this early. I got up and walked down the hall, the floor creaking with each step.
I stopped. At least I think I stopped. It was more like something stopped me. I turned my head where my feet were firmly planted. A door; it was Lisbeth’s room. A black door with a silver handle and a wilted red rose nailed to it; a part of me wanted to go inside.
“No,” I muttered, but my own mind wasn’t enough to stop me. My hand reached for the handle and slowly turned it and out of impulse, pushed it open.
I stood there, my hands clammy and forehead dabbed with cool beads of sweat. My feet finally felt free as I entered the room.
Looking around, it was pretty bare. Aside from a black coffin lying in the middle of the room on a table with velvet red cloth and a step stool beside it. The walls were painted a dark purple and candles surrounding the edges of the walls on the floor were the only source of light.
I approached the casket and lifted the lid without hesitation. Lisbeth; there she lay in her own comatose. Skin white as snow but lips so unnaturally pink; stained with blood. My hand brushed her raven hair from her forehead. Her eyes abruptly opened and my instinct kicked in to get away.
“Andy,” she whispered in a soft voice that I hadn’t heard before. It was gentle and not so harsh like it normally was, “what are you doing?” she asked.
I didn’t know what to say, how could I tell her that I just randomly woke up and decided to go to her room to just look at her?
“Andy,” she said stepping out from her coffin, “come,” she said holding out her hand,
“It’s ok,” she smiled, I took her hand and as she slowly grasped it. Her fingers like ice, she wrapped her arms around me.
“Calm down,” she chuckled, “your heart might explode at this point,” her arms were just…comforting. That’s what I needed was comfort.
“I was just curious,” I whispered,
“About?”
“Just, you,” I said, “I wanted to know more about you and…I wanted to see you,”
“You see me all the time,” she smiled half-heartedly,
“I meant alone, so I could look at you…observe you…”
“Andy,” she took my hands, “feel,” she placed them over her chest and her heart was actually beating,
“Andy, this feeling of liveliness, the feeling my heart is making right now…this only happens to my kind…when they find their lipseste bucata,” she smiled,
“And what does that mean?”
“That’s my kind’s way of saying, ‘Missing Piece,’” she placed her hands over mine, “you’re my other half,”
“Lisbeth,” I sighed happily, “I knew there was something different about you that night you came to the show and I thought it was very odd but…it was also beautiful at the same time,” she smiled and blinked her eye, a tear of blood streamed down her pale cheek. She pulled out a hanky and wiped it away before looking back at me.
“Andy, I’m sorry for all this,” she said her voice turning sad,
“What’s there to be sorry for?” I asked,
“You being stuck here,”
“Well, I’m glad I’m not stuck here alone,” I took my hands from her chest and wrapped them around her waist, “I’d rather be stuck here with you and be happy then be stuck here alone and miserable,”
“Andy,” she said sadly, “my Papa and I talked and he believes that you’re not safe here, especially with me,” another bloody tear escaped, “he wants to send you and your friends to live with my Norwegian cousins in Stranda, they’re of ruthless Viking roots but he feels you’ll be safer there with them, just in case Gabriel tries to come after you”
“That’s ok,” I smiled, I tried pulling her close to me but she broke away,
“I can’t come with you,” she sobbed, I approached her to console her, wrapping my arms around her.
“Lisbeth,” I said kissing her hair, “sometimes we have to do what is best and sometimes what is best isn’t always what’s easiest,” I could feel her sobs deepen, “I think your grandfather is right,”
“Andy,” she turned to face me, “you and the others leave tomorrow night,” I felt the blood immediately leave my body, “I don’t want you to leave,” she cried into my shirt. Thank God it was a black shirt.
“Lisbeth,” she looked at me with bloody eyes that seemed to sparkle bright blue in the candle light, I grabbed her handle and lead her to her coffin, I took off my shirt and shorts and…well everything else. I got in before her and she undressed and climbed in soon after. Her coffin felt as if it were made for two. So perfect; I placed my lips on hers and traced my fingers down her spine. She shivered in my arms and I could feel her cheeks becoming slightly warm.
“Blushing?” I smiled, she bit her lip. She was so cute when she did that.
“Mark me as yours,” I whispered, “bite me,”
“Andy,” she kissed my neck, “I love you,” I remember…from that night in the hotel, I remember her teeth. It was that moment we were one.

Abigail’s POV

It was now noon and I was waiting for Victor at the Starbucks on the corner at Sixteenth Street Mall.
“Abigail,” a deep voice said behind me, “so good to see you,”
“Wish I could say the same,” I replied,
“Shall we get to business?”
“That’s why I’m here,”
“Alright, well here’s the case file,” he said handing it to me. I began scanning through the pages with the pictures of the numerous scenes paper clipped to the pages. Numerous bodies scattered in alleyways; their flesh rotted and bones revealed in the chunks. Bullet holes covered the heads and chest area.
“What exactly are we dealing with here, Vic?” I ask,
“That’s it, we’re not entirely sure,” he sighs,
“So these bodies were found like this?”
“No,” he said sharply, “they were alive when we found them; the police gunned them down,”
“Their flesh looks almost entirely decomposed,”
“That’s the point I’m trying to get across to you Abigail,” he said with great emphasis, “after we photographed the scene, we took the bodies back to the lab for an autopsy; these bodies have been dead for months…maybe even years…but they were walking and alive,”
I scanned through the report once more, “what do you want me to do about this?”
“I honestly don’t know, Abigail,” he rubbed his temple and then looked up at me, “this all seems like one big horror movie I mean…zombies? C’mon, I feel like I’m losing my mind telling you this!”
“Vic,” I sighed,
“Abigail, I need you to run background reports on the bodies. Locate their identities, find out their date of birth and their date of death and find if they have some sort of connection,”
“I’ll try my best,” I closed the case folder and slipped it in my hand bag.
“And one more thing,” he began, “please, be careful,”
I smiled slightly, “I’ll do my best,”

Lisbeth’s POV

“Good morning everyone!” I smiled coming down the stairs. It was actually almost one in the afternoon and everybody was eating left over ribs from last night. I skipped past Papa and Mama before going back to kiss their cheeks,
“Good morning, Lisbeth, you’re awfully cheerful today,” said Mama,
“Why so blissful, my batling?” asked Papa,
“Yeah,” said Jake, “what gives?”
“It’s just a beautiful day,” I lied,
“No,” CC said suspiciously, “nobody is a morning person, there is only one reason anybody would be happy in the morning,”
Oh God, I was dead.
“Hey guys,” said Andy coming down, “and hello,” he whispered huskily with that smile as he passed me. All the guys fell quiet, even Sammi. They all looked down and kept eating their breakfast.
“Why is everyone so quiet?” Papa asked,
“Ummm,” I said trying to think of something, “well you know what they say Papa, a quiet table means good food,” I chuckled awkwardly, everybody agreed as well. Close call! If Papa would’ve found out what Andy and I did this morning, he would have Andy’s head on a stick.
Suddenly Abigail came flailing through the door and darted up the stairs, “Abby, where have you been?” asked Avira,
“Can’t talk, working,” she said not even turning around to look at us,
“I’ll talk to her,” I said rushing up the stairs.
“Abigail, what’s going on?”
“Just a case I’ve been assigned,”
“A case,” I said to myself, “but I thought you left the bureau?”
“I thought so too, apparently I’m still under contract till the end of the year,” she frowned.
“What’s this case about?”
“I honestly don’t know,” I sighed, “Vic gave it to me just today and it’s an odd one,”
“Let me have a gander,” I said taking the case profile, I scanned the profile carefully and glanced at the pictures, “they can’t be serious, this has to be some kind of prank,”
“I wish it was,” she said heaving a sigh of stress, “but it’s far from any prank I’ve ever seen and the sad part is, I think I know who’s behind this,”
“Who?” I asked,
“Bella, my twin,”
