Turn Out The Lights

Destruction in the Hibachi

Lisbeth’s POV

It was late afternoon and sky was painted all different colors of orange and pink. The lights came onto the streets and flickered suspiciously. I told the girls I had to go take care of personal matters. They didn’t ask questions because they knew who I was going to see and what the matters were. I told them to keep the guys safe. Especially since my building, where the Francesco brothers were waiting for me, was next to the Japanese steak-house that the group was going to be eating at. Hopefully this shouldn’t take too long.
“I’d prefer you join the others in the hibachi,” I implored him,
“I might, but is it ok if I just sit in the car and have a cigarette for a little bit?” he asked,
I tried hard not to smile, “I suppose,” I replied, he smiled back and pulled out his cigarettes.
“If I’m longer than 20 minutes, go inside and order without me,” I told him; he nodded and I grabbed my key to enter the building. Quickly trotting up stairs, I was greeted by Vicki,
“Hey boss,” she smiled twirling her red locks and filing her nails,
“Take the rest of the night off,” I said without making eye contact; immediately, I heard her get up and run out of the room. I took a breath and entered the conference room. At the end of the long conference table sat two identical, rugged men with olive skin and dark hair. The only thing that set them apart was that one of them had a scar their face from when my cousin, Vincent clawed him in a duel. Demetrius was the one without the scar; Gabriel obviously had the scar.
“Gentlemen,” I said trying to sound hospitable,
“Miss. Helsing,” they said in unison,
“What exactly seems to be the problem?” I asked them,
“Why would there be a problem?” Grinned Demetrius,
“Because the only time you ever wish to call a council with me is when you’re not happy with something and the last thing I need is a blood bath between vampires and wolves, so out with it,”
“Your little witch friend,” growled Demetrius,
“What about her?”
“Funny,” chuckled Gabriel, “she doesn’t remember,”
“Remember what?”
“It’s against ancient laws to have any sort of alliance with anyone outside of your kind,”
“It’s also against ancient law from mutts like you to cross into vampiric territory without permission or a direct order in times of war; do you not remember the Blood Divide Treaty that our grandfathers agreed to?”
“Point is,” Gabriel interrupted, “your little witch friend could’ve done some reprehensible damage to my brother,”
“It was not the time and place, Gabriel! He was on my turf and in eyes of humans! If it were for him, we could’ve been seen! But luckily, Abigail put a stop to it,”
“I’m sorry, Lisbeth but as the ancient laws also state, any outside alliance must be terminated,” Demetrius sighed,
“You will not lay a hand on her,” I growled, the reds grew in my eyes and my blood began to boil. “We know, she’s next door with that band you brought into all of this,” Gabriel smirked devilishly, “we plan to take her whether you agree or not,”
“Those boys know nothing of our world, if you go in there and take Abigail, you will reveal everything!”
“That’s a risk we’ll have to take,” said Demetrius; I heard his bones crack as he began to transform. Of all places! Those stupid mongrels!
“Demetrius, Gabriel!” I shrieked as the jolted towards me. I leapt into mid-air – flipping so my feet touched the ceiling and I grabbed a hold of their hair tightly and smashed their skulls together – they fell to the floor dizzy and groaning but arose as quickly as they fell.
“Stop!” I commanded; they caught their balance before looking at each other than looking back at me. This wasn’t good. They moved to all fours and darted towards me, before I could get out of their grasp; they clamped their masculine jaws onto my arms and ran me through the wall of the building, soon crashing through the roof of the hibachi. Plaster snowed onto my face as I landed on the floor, people turned to see us then suddenly got up and ran from the restaurant screaming, all but Avira, Abigail and the guys. I finally focused my eyes and pinned down the mangy mutts to the floor, trying my hardest to keep them at bay.
“Lisbeth!” shouted Abigail rushing to my side,
“Get back!” I screamed, “They’re after you!”
“What?” she gasped,
“Avira, get Abigail and the guys out of here,”
“I’m not leaving you,” she cried,
“NOW!” I screamed flipping the two large wolves onto a hot grill, causing them to scream in pain.
“I’ll lead them away,” I told Avira, “just get everyone to a safe place,”
“Ok,” she nodded and they ran out of the restaurant,
“You want her?” I screamed at the dogs, bearing my fangs as they circled me, “You’ll have to get me first!”
Just as the others ran out, out of the corner of my eye I saw…
“Andy,” I gasped looking at him – bad move.
The minute I took my eyes off the wolves, they pounced me. The first rule of any fight: never take your eyes off your opponent. I got them off and threw them into the wall and knocked them cold briefly,
“L-Lisbeth,” he stuttered in confusion,
“Get out of here!” I begged him,
“W-what is this? WHAT ARE YOU?!”
“I’ll explain later, I promise, just go!” He obeyed and ran, I turned back to face the beasts as they came to. Demetrius narrowed his eyes and looked at Andy as he began to run away.
“Leave him out of this, he is nothing to you!”
“Oh but on the contrary my darling leech,” he grimaced, “he is,”
“He means something to you, doesn’t he?” asked Gabriel,
“He does,” chuckled Demetrius, “a monster like you, falling for a lost soul like him?”
“He is not a lost soul!” I roared, jolting forward I punched Demetrius square in the jaw only to soon be tackled from behind by Gabriel, but I counter attacked him and flipped him on his back, knocking the wind out of him. There he lay, whimpering while Demetrius tried to stand on his feet. Tracting my claws, I aimed for Demetrius’ chest; blood spurting onto the wall.

Avira’s POV

“What the fuck is going on?” The guys kept asking; they were really freaked out. I knew this was going to be bad.
“Where are we going?” Jake yelled,
“Anywhere but here,” replied Abigail,
“We have to go back for Andy!” Jinxx reminded us,
“He’ll be fine as long as he stays in the car!” I assured,
“We have to go back!” Jake hollered,
“Look!” Shouted Abigail, stopping the stampede, “I was given an order and as long as you are under our protection you will stay with us,” Abigail’s eyes swirled into a blank vortex of silver and white; her green flames flickering at her fingertips.
“Abigail,” I said resting my hand on her arm to calm her,
“What are you?” Jinxx gasped.
“We’ll explain later,” I assured them, “right now are priority is keeping you guy’s safe,”

Andy’s POV

My legs felt like Jell-O but I kept running; I was hoping this was a dream. Please just be a dream. Lisbeth.
What was going on?
What were those things?
Giant wolves or something?
They talked though…what the fuck was going on?
Her eyes.
That red.
I knew I wasn’t going crazy! I knew there was something off about her!
I ran to Sixteenth Street Mall, “Jinxx! Jake! Ashley! CC! Anybody!” I cried out,
I just wanted to see a familiar face. I just wanted to go home; I was tired and confused.
“Andy!” a voice screamed in the distance, out from around the Starbucks on the corner came Abigail and the others.
I ran to her, “what is going on?”
“Will you guys stop asking that, I’ll explain later!” Abigail promised,
“What about Lisbeth?” I asked,
“She’s tough, we have to hide you first and then we’ll go back to help her,”
“Where is there to hide?” Ashley asked,
“Well,” Avira began,
“No,” Abigail said harshly,
“What choice do we have?” asked Avira,
“That’s out of the question,” said Abigail,
“Where ever it is, I’m sure we’ll be safer there then standing out in the open here!” said Jinxx,
“You’re right,” Abigail sighed, “let’s hail a cab and go home,”
“Home?” CC asked,
“That’s the only place where you’ll be safe,” Avira said,
“Isn’t that the first place they’ll look?”
“Not exactly,” smirked Abigail,
I was so confused.
