Lisbeth’s POV


Never have I tasted the blood of someone that was as sweet as his. It lingered on my lips as I licked them clean. His blood…oh his sweetness. I held him close, feeling him go limp in my arms. I broke away from his neck and saw his head swing off to the side, eyes rolling back in total unconsciousness. The defenseless ones are always so cute.
I released my arms from around him watched him descend into the pool with a splash. “Well, it was nice while it lasted, kid,” I smirked as I began to walk away back into the hotel. I passed by the pool looking at his lifeless face under the water and something happened. Something was happening in my chest and it hurt a lot. It was pulling me towards the pool like it was telling me to jump in and grab him.
I groaned at the agony and succumbed to the feeling. Diving into the cool water, I pulled him close to me trying to keep his head above water. “Wake up!” I demanded him; slightly I smacked his face. He gasped with the feeling of air returning to his lungs but it wasn’t long before he fell unconscious again. The important thing was he was breathing again. I stared at his adorable unconscious face and couldn’t help but smile to myself.



Abigail’s POV


I lied in the hotel bed trying to fall asleep, Avira lying next to me already out like a trout. I heard the door open and the light from the hall way filled the room for a moment before closing. I heard the squishing-squashing sound of what sounded like somebody wearing soaked shoes. I gathered my energy to my hand and quietly chanted to myself, “Prunam viridi lux conspectu meo, si opus fuerit, occides…”
My aura gathered into my palm and green flames engulfed my hand, I threw back the covers and was ready to throw the ball of fire,
“Abigail, hold up, it’s me!” I heard a voice whisper, “Lisbeth?” I asked.
“Yeah, who else?”
“What are you doing?”
“Nothing,” she said with a tremble,
“Don’t you lie to me Lisbeth Helsing or I will throw this at you,” She turned and revealed Andy’s body in her arms.
“Lisbeth, you didn’t…” I gulped hard,
“No, I just drank from him, I didn’t kill him,”
“Lisbeth…” I sighed,
“He won’t remember a thing, I’ll be sure of it,”



Andy’s POV


I awoke to the sound of silence. My eyes hurt to move and my body hurt. My hair was damn and smelt like chlorine. Was I swimming or something? My clothes were different too. Somebody undressed me…this was getting weird.
“Good morning,” said a voice, “Did you sleep well?” It was Avira.
“Hey there,” I replied, “Where is everyone?”
“Getting breakfast in the lobby,”
“Why aren’t you with them?”
“I’m not hungry and I told them I’d stay behind in case you woke up and were wondering where everyone was,”
“You should eat though,” I implored her,
“I just don’t eat,” she said ducking her head slightly,
“You should,” I said again,
“No, Andy, I mean I don’t eat,”
What did she mean…?
“Hey there!” smiled Lisbeth as she entered the room, “glad to see you’re finally up, I brought you a muffin and a coffee,”
“Thanks,” I smiled back; following Lisbeth was Abigail and the guys.
“So, anybody have any idea as to what they’d like to do?”
“Well, there is a zoo that I’ve been wanting to take Sammi too,” Jinxx said, “and she is coming out in a few hours so, what do you guys say?”
“Sounds like fun and then we can go have some sushi for dinner,” said Jake,
“That ok with you, ladies?” I asked,
“Of course,” Abigail smiled, “maybe we can even go to the track?”
“Oh yeah!” CC smiled, “I wouldn’t mind winning a couple extra dollars,”
“Or losing what’s left of your spending money,” jokes Ashley.
“That was one time,” CC pouted.




Lisbeth’s POV


After the girls and I ran home to get a change of clothes, we met the guys at the zoo after they left to pick up Jinxx’s wife at the airport.
“Dude, there’s monkeys everywhere!” Jake hollered,
The guys were easily fascinated by the animals, after hours of walking around in the sun I was beginning to feel like the light was getting to me.
“Are you ok?” Abigail asked,
“Just hot,” I replied,
“Here, take a drink of my lemonade,”
I took a sip and caught my breath, “do you think it’s your amulet?” she asked,
“What about it?”
“Do you think it could be wearing down?”
“This amulet has been in my clan for centuries,”
“That’s what I’m saying,” she implied, “what if it needs a little tune up?”
“Nonsense, its fine,”
“Lisbeth,” Abigail sighed, “do you think we’ll ever be honest with people?”
“What do you mean?”
“Like, be able to reveal to people who we are,”
“No! I don’t want you thinking such things, understand?”
“But, we’re so much like them,” she interrupted,
“But we’re not them; we’re monsters, do you remember what happened the last time you were honest with someone? You were forced to resign from the Denver Department of Federal Bureau Investigation and now you’re stuck working as a bartender having to listen to drunken sob stories!”
The look in Abigail’s eyes softened in tears, “I know,” she sobbed; wiping away the tears quickly. I glanced over at the boys as they poked at the free-roaming peacocks while Sammi and Avira chatted.
“The lives we live now weren’t ours for the choosing; you – a witch, possibly the last one of her generation; I’m a bloodsucker who can’t seem to stay out of the trouble or away from the mob for that matter and Avira...a troubled soul seeking revenge on those who selfishly ended her; you’re her only help,”
“Hey,” smiled CC and Ashley as they walked over,
“Hey boys, are you enjoying the birds?” I asked,
“Yes,” Andy gasped in glee, “worship me seagulls!”
Abigail and I just chuckled as everyone gathered around in the shade to cool off.
“How does sushi sounds for lunch? I’m buying!” Ashley smiled,
“Sounds lovely,” smiled Avira; we all stood and exited the zoo to the parking lot.
“The zoo is fun and all but I’m baking like a loaf of bread in a vagina,” CC said wiping his forehead,
“Dude, that made no sense,” Jake peered,
“Sure it does, let me explain,” replied CC as Jake and him walked further ahead to discuss in secret,
“Did you have fun?” I asked Andy as he walked by me,
“Yeah, it was great;” he smiled, “did you?”
“Yeah,” I smiled back,
“That’s good, it’s a plus that you didn’t burn; with you being so pale I was certain you’d be red by now,”
I bit the inside of my cheek, “yeah,” I chuckled awkwardly, “me too,” I suddenly felt my phone ringing in my pocket, I grabbed it and excused myself off to the side to take the call,
“Hello?” I asked in annoyance,
“Hey boss, urgent business among the gang, you’re needed right away,” I knew that snobby, thick Jersey accent; it was Vicki, my assistant. I’m starting to regret giving her my personal number,
“Now?” I gawked, “Can’t it wait?”
“Not really,” she said, smacking on her gum on the other end,
“Well, can you at least fill me in on the matter?”
“It’s the Francesco brothers; they wish to discuss terms with you, I have them in the waiting room right now,” Son of a fuck!
“Fine, just let them know I’ll be on my way and be sure to let the clan know what’s going on in case things get out of hand,”
“You got it boss, bye-bye!” She replied in her high pitch, shrill voice. God if she could learn sign language that would be better than having to listen to that all day.
“You ok?” Andy asked sneaking up behind me, making me jump a little.
“You got to stop doing that,” I breathed out,
“Sorry,” he blushed,
“I just have some business to take care of,”
“Oh,” he replied,
“Yeah, so I can’t really stay for sushi, but we can maybe…catch a movie later?” that’s if I’ve alive, I thought.
“Definitely,” he smiled, “maybe I can tag along if it’s not too urgent,”
“You should stay,” I implored him, “the guys would get suspicious,”
“Nah, they wouldn’t care,” he insisted; just fucking great.
“Fine,” I sighed, “but promise me one thing,”
“And that is?”
“You will stay in the car, no matter what,”
