Chapter 13- Guitarists

Imogen’s point of view-

I wake up after falling asleep doing my science homework. The light from outside beams through the window. I must have left the freaking blind up last night. I get up and realize that it’s 7:40. I put on my usual make up and then quickly pack my bag. I hear a knock on the door so I grab a monster from the fridge and say a quick bye to my mom.

“Hey Andy.” I smile at Andy in front of me.

“Good morning.” He smiles back and we start walking to school.

“I slept in this morning and now I’ve got a massive headache.” I sigh. I’m so fucking tired.

“You’ll be okay.” Andy reassures. His phone rings so we quickly stop so he can answer it.

Andy walks back over to me with a sad look on his face.

“What’s wrong Andy?” I ask looking at his shocked face.

“Chris quit the band. He said that he has another band.” Andy frowns.

“It’ll be okay, you’ll find a new guitarist right?”

“I’ll ask Ashley if he knows anyone after school.” Andy sighs.

“As long as you’re in the band I’m sure it’ll be amazing.” I smile.

“Thank you, it means a lot.” Andy smiles back and we continue the rest of the walk to school.

I get to my locker and open it. A whole heap of papers fall out from it. I pick one up and read it. ‘Suicidal freak’. I pick up another one and read it. ‘Emo’ and it continues. Megan must have put then through the vent type things on the door of my locker. I pick all the papers up and throw them in the nearest bin. I take out my books and try to ignore what I saw.

*Recess*

“Hey Andy.” I smile as I walk up to him. He had drama class and I had art.

“Hi, Ashley just called and it looks like I have a new rhythm guitarist and a new lead guitarist. And the rhythm guitarist plays violin as well.” Andy says with a huge smile.

“That’s awesome news.” We get our food and then sit at an empty table.

“Yeah, we’ll get to meet them after school.” Andy starts eating his food and I start eating mine.

Andy and I continue talking about his bands until the bell rings.

“We’ve both got maths now right?” I ask as we stand up. Andy nods his head and we being walking to class.

“As you all know the year is coming to an end. Prom will be in a month so start planning for it.” A sub teacher named Mr Rogers walks around and hands us a piece of paper with all the details on it.

We sit through the rest of maths class in utter boredom.

*Back at Andy’s*

Ashley walks through the door with two guys that are both dressed in black. Andy said that Sandra couldn’t make it today because she has homework to catch up on but we’d see her on the weekend.

“Andy, this is Jeremy, he prefers Jinxx.” Ashley says gesturing towards one of them.

“Hi, I play rhythm guitar, violin and some piano.” Jinxx smiles at Andy.

“Awesome.” Andy smiles.

“This is Jake.” Ashley says looking at the other guy wearing black and then he looks at Andy.

“It’s great to have you two in the band.” Andy starts talking to Jake and Jinxx so Ashley and I sit on the couch awkwardly.

“So…how’s everything going?” I say trying to end the silence.

“Pretty good, how’s school going?” Ashley smiles.

“It’s school, pretty boring but I’ve only got 5 weeks left.”

“The best advice that I can give you is to keep your head up high and ignore all the negative comments.”

“Thanks Ashley.” I smile.

“Should we go and practice some songs?” Andy asks.

Ashley and I direct our attention to Andy and then get up.

After the guys play a few songs, Jinxx and Jake have gotten the hang of it.

“We should watch movies, I’ll order pizza.” Andy suggests.

“Just so you all know, Andy doesn’t like scary movies.” I laugh.

Andy sticks his tongue out at me as we walk into the kitchen. Ashley, Jake and Jinxx go and find a movie. Andy reaches for the phone but then puts it back.

“I know this is kind of awkward but would you go to prom with me?” Andy asks.

“Of course.” I smile.

We order pizza and then go sit with the guys.
