Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild One

New Years Day (Part 1)

“Ashley, what's up with the town?” I asked as we were in the market. Decorations and colorful things of all shapes and sizes were strung all over Desert Town.

“New Years, duh.” He said adjusting his cloak. We only wore our normal rebellion clothes when we played rebellion music or in the Church. During the time Black Veil Brides was playing, I was worried people would recognize us in the future, so I kept my hood on the entire time. Now we both had our hoods up, for safety.

“Well I didn't know!” I growled. Ashley laughed under his breath. We bought some more food and then I randomly got separated from Ashley.

I continued to look around and wandered into the jewelry section. I found a choker incrested with red and black jewels and a gigantic cross connected to it. It was love at first sight, then I found the price tag...

$75! My heart sank. I had no money and no job.. It looked like that choker and I just weren't meant to be together.

I walked away sadly and found Ashley talking to a girl. He had his hood down! I jumped on his back and pulled back on his head.

“Ashley?! What part of secret identity do you not understand?!

The women he had been talking to giggled. If Ashley was distracted by this women, We'd never make it home in time before members of F.E.A.R. Came and started tormenting the town.

I had to think fast, use my smarts! Andy said I was intelligent for my age! I just needed to use it! I had it! I put on big puppy-dog eyes even though he couldn't see them and tugged on his arm.

“Daddy come on! Mommy is at home waiting for lunch!” I said trying not to break down and laugh. I could feel Ashley glaring at me. The women kinda backed away.

“This child isn't mine!” I started crying really loud.

“You always tell women that when mommy isn't around! Why daddy?!” I said and cried louder.

The women walked away quickly with anger on her face. I laughed the entire walk back to the Church.

“Why, Legion, just why?” Ashley growled.

“We needed to get home! I don't want to be in town when the F.E.A.R. Members starts tormenting the village.”

Ashley didn't respond the entire walk home. I ran through the front doors and told Andy and C.C. About the amazing prank I had just pulled. Andy was laughing really hard and C.C. Gave me a high-five.

“So what's new years?” I asked Andy while we were walking around the roof of the church. Andy looked at me weird.

“What?” I said and felt myself turn red.

“Your parents never celebrated New Years?” He said looking concerned.

“I've lost almost all my memories of my family... I.... barely remember anything...” I said and teared up. All of a sudden, a pair of arms wrapped around me and Andy's deep voice sounded comforting.

“I'm sorry Legion. I didn't mean to make you sad.” My blush deepened.

“It's O-okay Andy. I've just lost most of my memories. Remember about a month ago? I could barely remember how to speak. It probably just takes time.” I said and gave him a faint smile.

He smiled back at me and he regained the sparkle in his turquoise eyes. I felt myself getting redder by the minute. I shook my head.

“No!” my thoughts screamed. “he's twenty-two! I'm fourteen! Get a grip of yourself Legion!!!” I came back to reality and felt Andy staring at me.

“Are you okay, Legion?” He asked and lit a cigarette. I quickly nodded my head and sat down. He sat next to me. The sky had turned orange and the temperature was dropping to about a cool 70 degrees.

From the church, Desert Town glowed with bright colors from the decorations all over the place. For once, it looked like a happy village that didn't have to constantly live in fear.

“So tell me about New Years.” I said watching the sun start to set. Andy took a puff form his cigarette.

“People celebrate the coming of the new year. They stay up until midnight and drink a lot. People also kiss.”

All that sounded like tons of fun, but the last part had really gotten to me. I didn't see anything special about myself.. Would I ever find someone to share a new years kiss with?

“Have you ever had a new years kiss before?” The words rolled off my tongue before I had realized what I said was a little personal. I covered my mouth with both hands in embarrassment. Andy chuckled, which made me feel a little better.

“Yeah, I did last year with a girl I really care for.”

My heart kinda shattered into a million pieces. I had to remind myself of logic once more.

“What's her name?” I said putting on a fake smile. Andy faintly blushed at the question.

“Juliet. She's.... such an amazing person. She sings like an angel.”

She sounded amazing just by the way Andy had smiled while she was our subject. I actually found myself smiling too. The sun had finished setting and the sky was purple. Tomorrow was New Years Eve and I waned to enjoy it with my friends—family. More hope for memories filled my head.

The town was beautiful! We had spent the entire day in the village and joined in on the celebration. I was with Jake and C.C. Getting a snack.

“We've had eight snacks already!” I yelled at Jake trying not to look the exhausted food lady in the eyes.

The sun was starting to set and more and more people started to celebrate in the streets. Lights of all colors were everywhere, and the smell of food saturated the air.

Jake chose to ignore me comment and ordered more and more food. I had no idea how we were affording his stomach.

We met up with Andy, Jinxx, and Ashley by the jewelry section of the market. Crap! I had been trying to avoid that place in case I saw that choker again....

Well, there it was in all it's glory. My mouth watered for it's beauty and I ran my fingers over one of the red jewels. Ah! Life isn't fair...

A few hours had passed and more people were getting drunk and excited. I couldn't believe how much fun I was having even though C.C. And Ashley were drunk out of their minds.

Those two started randomly dancing even though no music was playing at all. C.C. Walked over to me and grabbed my shoulders and starting spinning in circles. We were dancing and giggling like small school girls.

Soon after, C.C. Got dizzy and threw up. I went over to the (thank God) sober Jake and Jinxx. They looked about as amused as I was as Ashley started to drunk flirt with the food lady. I felt like a normal kid just having fun!

I had just noticed Andy was gone. I looked around, but didn't see him anywhere.

“Where's Andy?” I asked Jinxx.

“I think he had to use the bathroom.” He said and tried to get Ashley off the ground after the food lady had punched him for trying to grope her.

I suddenly felt my hood being pulled down and something cold wrap around my neck. I quickly turned around and saw Andy holding...

“That choker...!” I gasped and he chained it on my neck. I heard him chuckle.

“I saw you drooling over it.” He said and gave me one of his perfect smiles. I just stared at him in ah. I suddenly couldn't contain myself; I wrapped my arms around his neck and thanked him about a million times.

It was almost time to start counting down and Andy looked at his watch.

“5, 4, 3,” We counted. “2, 1-” There was a loud bang and the next thing I heard was people screaming, and not happily either.

Andy put his hand on my shoulder and yelled.

“Everyone pull your hoods up!” He all did and hordes of F.E.A.R. Members flooded the streets and starting tearing down all the lights and decorations.

I was bewildered and couldn't find the words to speak at the horror going on around me.

Electrical fires had been started and shops everywhere were bursting into flames. Jinxx grabbed my arm and we ran down the back alleys. The more we ran, the fainter the screams grew, but terror still kept me from speaking.

We ran to the church, which is exhausting since it's like seven miles away from town. We climbed straight to the roof. The entire town looked covered in flames.

“F.E.A.R......” Jake said. A single tear fell unexpectedly from my eye. How could they do that?! Why did they get their amusement from the pain of others?!

I stood up and looked at the faces of everyone.

“We're going to write a new song.” I said and marched off the roof. The five men followed me down into the basement where we made our music.

“We're going to call it New Years Day” I commanded.

Pretty soon we had the song figured out. Me being the one that wrote the song, I included Jinxx and I a violin part. I wasn't going to let F.E.A.R. Ruin New Years for anybody. I'll rise from the ashes.

Love it. FEAR is such an ass. Sorry about your mom and you. But you go and show that you can thrive for what you believe in. In the words of Andy Biersack (I might paraphrase a bit), stick to your guts and be as hard headed as you can be. Believe in what you want
