When Broken is Easily Fixed
Babysitter?
I stood in the back of the venue as my friend, Kyle’s, band did their sound check. After the song was done Kyle jumped down from the stage and came walking up to me. “So how did it sound?” He asked.
I was helping to make sure everything sounded alright and balanced. “Josh’s amp can be turned up a little and Andy’s down. Otherwise it was good.” I answered hoisting myself up onto the bar. “Oh, and you were a little pitchy while singing the chorus the second time.” Kyle was the clean vocalist for the group.
“Yeah my hearing piece cut out for a little bit.” He answered adjusting the thing in his ear and then took his hat off. “Here hold this for me; it’s too hot up there.” He said putting it on my head so that it was backwards.
“Kyle!” I whined. “It’s all sweaty.”
“Oh suck it up.” He answered.
I sighed, “I think you guys should run through a couple more songs to be sure that the ear piece thing was just a fluke.” I advised changing the subject.
Kyle nodded, “Yeah I agree with that. I’m going to go talk with the guys, tell them what you said.” He said and headed back to the stage.
I was on tour with We Came as Romans because my parents were out of the country for a bit and they didn’t want me to do anything stupid. So them and Kyle came to the consensus that I should go on tour with him so he could essentially baby sit me.
They started to run through their song Just Keep Breathing (my favorite song) and I opened up my sketch book to continue whatever I had been drawing at the time.
“Hey groupie.” A deep voice said from beside me. I looked up to see Andy Biersack from Black Veil Brides.
“I’m not a groupie.” I answered annoyed and then continued my drawing.
“Whatever.” He answered sounding slightly annoyed. Probably because I didn’t drop down to my knees and kiss his feet. “Do you know when they’re going to be done? My band and I still need to do our sound check.”
“Well last time I checked this was We Came as Romans time slot and your guys’ was earlier. So maybe you should have been here earlier like you were supposed to be.” I answered bitchily. I had heard stories about them from Kyle and wasn’t too thrilled that they were also one of the bands touring.
“As far as I know this was supposed to be our time slot.” Andy said stubbornly.
“Yeah, well it was changed because we had to come all the way from Detroit, Michigan.” I said holding up a paper that had the run down for the day. “So maybe you should have checked the schedule.”
He took it out of my hands and looked at it. “Fuck.”
“Yeah.” I answered. “They’re going to be done in a few minutes.”
“Are you their tour manager or something?” He asked trying to keep up the conversation. “You look a little young to be doing that.”
“No. I’m not their tour manager; I’m Kyle’s friend. And you are annoying me.” I jumped down from the bar and walked away from him.
“Hey Alex how was it this time!” Andy Glass, We Came as Romans bassist, yelled to me.
I held both my thumbs up. “Sounded awesome to me.”

The concert went awesome. The guys decided to go out and party afterwards but Kyle told me that I had to stay behind because 'I wasn't supposed to be drinking'. He offered to stay with me but I told him to go. He deserved to celebrate with his friends and apparently I didn't. So I just sat by the indoor pool with my sketch book.
"Hey it's the chick from the God Squad posse!" Somebody yelled from the door way. People were always commenting about how We Came as Romans was a Christian band because of the meanings in their songs even though they didn't associate themselves with a specific religion.
I looked over to see CC, Ashley and Andy from Black Veil Brides coming into the pool area. Even though the only one who seemed to be dressed for it was Ashley. I'm guessing that CC was the one that yelled out the thing about the God Squad.
"I do have a name." I said as they walked over to me.
"Yeah but we never learned it." Ashley answered.
"It's Alex." Andy replied. I don't remember ever telling him my name. "I heard Glass call you it at the venue." He shrugged his shoulders and sat down in the beach chair next to mine.
“Why are you guys even here if you aren’t swimming.” I asked as CC took the chair next to Andy’s.
“You’re not swimming. What’s your excuse?” Andy pointed out.
“I’m going to, thus the swim suit.” I answered.
“Andy told us that he saw you walking out of your room with a swim suit on, so we wanted to come check you out.” CC answered.
“And I actually wanted to swim.” Ashley chimed in.
“So where’s the rest of the WCAR crew?” Andy asked, changing the subject.
“Out partying.” I answered smugly.
“And why aren’t you with them?” CC asked as if I was crazy. “Too innocent for that?”
I shook my head, “I am far from innocent. And Kyle told me I had to stay behind because my adoptive parents told him that I wasn’t allowed to drink. So I got stuck here.”
“What is Kyle like your babysitter or something?” CC asked chuckling.
“Basically.” I answered. “My parents are out of town so them and Kyle thought it would be best if I went on tour with him so that he could keep an eye on me.” I gave them only part of the story. I didn’t want to tell them why exactly I had to have a babysitter.
“You’re on a rock tour and you’re not allowed to drink? That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.” Andy commented.
“Yeah you’re telling me.” I rolled my eyes.
“Well Jinxx and Jake went to go pick us up some booze so you can come party with us if you want.” Andy offered with a smile.
I smiled back, “I think I’m going to take you up on that offer.”
