Sink Your Teeth Into Forever

Chapter 21

I was sitting at the kitchen table with two government officials looking at me. Ivy hadn't come home for dinner, worrying to me as she was normally always on time.
"Sir we believe that your daughter has been kidnaped," He said it so calmly like he delivered that kind of news all the time.
"What? How?" I demanded gripping my coffee mug.
"This will take some explaining so bear with us. The wolf that you captured was not just a wolf. He was a shape-shifter. Normally he takes on the form of a human named Ashley Purdy-"
"You mean our neighbor?" I exclaimed shocked.
"Yes sir. He was not the only one. We hoped that because we took him the others would come out to get him back, but right now it appears that they have gone into hiding,"
"What does that have to do with Ivy?"
"We also think that because we took one of theirs, they have taken one of ours. One of our agents witnessed who we believe to be the Alpha forcing her into a car at gunpoint," he said then fell silent for a moment before he slid a piece of paper across the table. I picked it up and looked. It showed someone who's face I knew all too well, a skinny boy with piercing blue eyes and spiky light brown hair. I saw him with Ashley all the time, he'd always seemed like a good boy to me.
"His name is Andrew Biersack. Do you recognize him?" the government guy prodded after a moment.
"Yes, I saw him often, he was with Ashley all the time. They seemed to be good friends," I said, shocked that a boy I'd seen around for years, smiling and laughing would do something this horrible.
"We are hunting them down to get your daughter back," the official continued.
"Was she hurt?" I asked.
"When we saw her, no, but I will be honest. Theses people are known to be very violent and unpredictable, they could do anything on a spur of the moment decision. Not to worry though, we'll get her back before anything bad can happen,"
Andy's POV
"You need to go talk to her Andy, those things you said, that was way out of line," Juliette said trying to look at me. We were standing in the kitchen quietly talking, giving Ivy some space. She wanted for me to go apologize again for yelling at Ivy. While my own shame got in the way of apologizing, I had other reasons. The biggest being that I could feel that Ivy was on the verge of a mental breakdown. She was suppressing a bunch of bad pent up emotions so that she wasn't reduced to a sobbing mass on our couch. I was worried that if I entered the room that would push her too far and we'd have a full blown meltdown on our hands. I tried to explain that to Juliette but she insisted and the next thing I knew I as walking into the living room a to try and comfort girl who wanted nothing to do with me.
As I entered I felt her heart rate elevate, and she looked up at me like she was worried that I was going to try and kill her. I sat on the coffee table in front of her, much like I had been earlier. She looked at the ground. I didn't know what to do. I instinctively wanted to pull up on her chin and make her look at me, but I didn't want to scare her. So I opted to take her hands in mine. As soon as we touched I felt her tense, she was trembling. I had to say something.
"Ivy, look at me," I said softly, she shook her head to the ground.
"Look at me," I said again, squeezing her hands gently. After a moment she looked up, her lower lip trembling, her green eyes were full of tears.
"I just wanted to apologize again for earlier. I was out of line, yelling at you like that. I'm sorry," I said.
"I'm sorry too," she said, I was confused.
"What are you sorry for?"
"If I had been faster than I would have been able to get him out, and he'd be okay, and you wouldn't have had to yell at me," She stumbled, before the dams broke and tears spilled over. Again I was at a loss for what to do. What did I normally do for a crying girl? Hug her, but normally the girls around me that were crying, were crying because they're fangirls who are happy to see me. Not someone who was traumatized because of me. I did it anyway. I pulled her too her feet and then pulled her into my arms. At first it was a bit of a struggle snuggle because she didn't know what I was doing. Then something that I didn't expect happened, she hugged me back, sobbing into my shoulder. I felt her stress being released into the air from the hug. Gradually her anxiety levels dropped to the point where she was barely crying and just shivering into me. I looked up to see Juliette standing in the doorway to the kitchen. She gave me a sarcastic thumbs up and mouthed the words 'good job'. I gave her the most innocent look I could manage. She rolled her eyes and disappeared back into the kitchen, where I could smell dinner cooking. Finally Ivy pulled away from me.
Ivy's POV
I don't think I expected to hug him a fraction as much as he expected me to hug him. I did it without thinking, and I was glad I did. It was one of those hugs where after you just feel better. When I let go of him I saw him in a completely different light, maybe someone that I could actually learn to be friends with.

Notes

Aww, little cute moment there at the end. Leave me a comment and subscribe if any of this caught your interest. I'm not sure if I'll be able to update on time next week due to my cousin, who is also one of my best friends, coming over this weekend. I may have to update a day or two late, but I'll get it up when I can. Always remember, if you think that no one loves you, I do.
