Living the Dream

Saved by the Bell

Author's note: Okay, finally I am back. I know it's been a long while, so I advise probably skim reading the story so far again, it's been over a year now. But I am on my way to recovery now. Had another operation, and I'm feeling more able to do stuff like my writing. I didn't want to write when I wasn't inspired, or when I was down, as it would probably all just drag and go horribly dark and awful :P Thank you for being so patient, and I hope you look forward to reading this again :) Enjoy!

*Krystal’s POV*
I perched on Ash’s lap sitting inside the circular booth we attained for our group. We were right next to the dance floor, and the bar was just a little to the left of us. The music was blaring, the drinks were flowing, and CC was getting his groove on.

“Hey!” Abi shouted at him. “Sexy ass!”

“Well I’d like to see you up here shaking that thang!” CC tied up an imaginary lasso and threw it towards Abi. She played along, and no sooner had CC started tugging on the ‘rope,’ Abi was being hauled to the dance floor and fell into CC’s arms giggling like a little schoolgirl.

“Hey darl’ you wanna go dance?” Ash spoke into my ear.

“Uh- I don’t do dancing, I really really don’t do dancing!”

“Aww, c’mon please? For meeeee?”

He gave me this cute pleading puppy dog face, and it was so strange. In all the posters and photos I’ve seen of them, not once have I seen this look on his face. He looked fragile, innocent and vulnerable. It was so damn cute. I swivelled my legs round and stood up and and then his look went from helpless, to devious.

“That’s my girl!”

Ashley practically jumped out of his seat, grabbed me by the hand, and I dragged me into the open space next to CC and Abi. I couldn’t help but giggle a little. Jeez, I really can’t dance, I thought to myself. I must look like such a tit. Then again, Ashley wasn’t exactly a great dancer either. He had hold of both of my hands, and we were facing each other doing a jive like thing. We were twisting and turning our hips and occasionally he would let go of one of my hands, lift the other into the air and spin me round like a ballerina. We included CC and Abi and we were all just letting loose and enjoying ourselves. Abi and I hip bumped one another and we did a slow version of the Macarena to Down With the Sickness by Disturbed. After a few more songs, and a lot more jigging, I felt my phone vibrating. I slipped my hand into the pocket of my jeans, and I had a text from Ethan.

Ethan: 5 minutes away, see you soon

Krystal: Okay then, would you like me to meet you out front?

Ethan: Sure, thank you :)

Krystal: Not a problem, gets me out of dancing :p

Yes! Saved by the bell! Well, saved by the text tone. I tiptoed so I was level with Ash’s ear and told him I was going out front to meet Ethan and then going to the bar to get him a drink.

“Would you like a drink too?”

“Go on then, JD and Coke please.”

“On it!”I turned to head for the entrance, but he slid his fingers through mine, spun me round and gave me a kiss.

I couldn’t help but blush a little, and then I sheepishly scurried away with an uncontainable smile; weaving in between the tables and booths, squeezing past and dodging the people. I accidentally bumped into someone and I immediately spun round and apologised.

“Oh! I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to –“

“KRYSTAL!” A waitress, Hayley, stopped and put her tray down onto a table top and embraced me in a tight hug. I hugged her back, then she held me out at arm’s length. “I am so sorry. I had no idea that Mr Hayward was hurting you. I would’ve kicked his ass!”

Hayley and I were never particularly close, but she spoke to me often. Me being me, I shot her down a lot of the time as I liked to just keep to myself. She seems like a nice enough girl though. I know that she has an apartment close to where we used to live before Ashley’s place, and she lives alone with her dog, Jasper, I think. She doesn’t get out much as far as I gathered, she was always asking if I wanted to hang out or go catch a movie together; I feel quite guilty now.

“Hey, it doesn’t matter, you don’t have to be sorry. I didn’t tell anyone. I just coped with it, but he’s locked away now, and I know it sounds silly, but a lot of good has come from the situation too.” I looked back over my shoulder at my group. Everyone looked so happy. Dan, Craig, Paul and Abi, were all totally at ease with the guys from Black Veil Brides, and it was so nice to see. Juliet had turned up now and was sitting next to Andy, hands intertwined. I turned back to Hayley. “What time do you finish tonight?”

“In 20 minutes.”

“Good, you busy when you finish?”

“If by busy you mean, are you going to do anything other than go home, sit with your dog and watch awful movies, then nope. I’m not busy!”

“Haha, okay; well it would be lovely for you to join us, we are having a little celebration drink because our band has been signed, and we are touring with Black Veil Brides.”

“And I think you should add, oh y’know, just the fact that you’re alive to that list of things to celebrate!”

“Ok, ok. And that…” we giggled together and then I told her I was off to meet Ethan.

“No problem, I’ll come over when I’ve finished. Thanks for inviting me, Krystal.”

“No problem”

Ethan: Where are you? I’m out front :)

Krystal: Sorry! Got chatting to an old colleague, on my way xD

I was scanning the area for any sign of Ethan, and I had to double take when I finally saw him. I barely recognised him, it was strange seeing him out of his doctor’s overalls. He was wearing some black boots, jeans and a Bon Jovi t-shirt. He hadn’t seen me yet, so I text him one last time, and slid my phone back into my jeans pocket.

Krystal: Boo! I see you!

“Hey, you! I’m glad you decided to come for a drink.” I shivered. “It’s a bit nippy out this evening!” It had gotten dark since we had been inside Whisky, the streetlights were on, and there were a lot less cars filing past.

“Tis’ a bit chilly, let’s head in shall we?”

“Let’s.”
