My Prophet

Check Us Out

I popped in my favorite pair of earrings, and ran my fingers through my hair. It was the last day of Warped Tour, meaning we had to go to prom. I was excited but still not feeling well, and that worried me.

My dad died in his forties right? Not when he was nineteen...

There was no way I had cancer. Or was there?

I didn't know! All I had learned was that it was pancreatic Cancer and that he died over the course of a few months. Why would I be the one? Why not one of my brothers?

I was stressing myself out thinking this way, and I was hoping it was only a placebo. That I was feeling under the weather already and now that I know how my dad died, I'm relating it back to that.

A knock on the bathroom door of our hotel room startled me from my thoughts. "Hey love, you ready?" Andy asked, softly.

"Yeah." I said, looking in the mirror one last time. I had on a black maxi skirt, and a gray half shirt. My hair was curled and puffed up in the front, and my makeup was simple. Perfect outfit for an informal but formal cookout.

I opened up the door and stepped out to see Andy. He was wearing a white dress shirt, and a black vest over it. He had a cute smirk on his face as he took me in. "Wow, beautiful." He said, leaning in to kiss me. "I've been waiting for this day for a long time."

"How long?" I giggled as he wrapped his arm around my waist. He took his hand in mine and kissed behind my ear.

"Since we met." He laughed, "I always imagined walking around prom with you on my arm."

"Well I'm excited." I said, kissing his nose.

"Good, ready to head out?" He asked. I nodded and took his arm.

"Wait, I need my jacket." I said, grabbing it from the bed. It was my favorite, leather with studs on the collar.

"Baby, it's hot out.." Andy quirked his eyebrow.

"I've been really cold lately." I shrugged. I could tell by the look in his eyes what I'd said worried him. Rightfully so.

I I skipped the jacket on and grabbed his arm again before we walked down to prom.

I was beyond nervous. I had met most of the people by being with Andy, of course, but there would be photographers there and interviewers.

All of these were things I wasn't exactly..comfortable..with. I guess I'd just have to wait and see.

Prom was just across the street from where we were staying and as we rode the elevator down to meet up with guys I felt my palms start to sweat. Andy seemed so collected, probably because he was the rockstar and belonged at events like these. I was just a ballerina who happened to stumble upon the love of her life who also happened to be a rockstar. I shook my hands out hearing the ding signaling we were on the bottom floor.

I grabbed Andy's hand as we walked out. The guys were all standing in the lobby, talking to a few other band members. "Andy?" I whispered in his ear.

"Mhm?" He asked, looking down at me.

"I'm really nervous." I sighed. He chuckled and kissed my head.

"Don't worry, I'll never leave your side." He promised. I nodded squeezing his hand.

"Hey you two." CC chuckled as we walked up.

"Hey." We said in unison.

"Ready?" Jinxx asked. We nodded and all six of us started over to prom.

Notes

I know the feeling. My stories from two years ago on here are just cringe-worthy in my opinion. But I definitely can relate to the your main character already just because of the the dance aspect. Kind of reminds me of my series "The Mortician's Daughter/Lost It All" and "Wretched and Divine/Ohio Is For Lovers" Those two series are dance related which are my favorite types of stories to write
