My Prophet

Andy held tightly onto my hand as we walked through the wrought iron gates of the cemetary my father was buried in. The guys played in Florida yesterday so today we had a day off. John was nice enough to find a car rental service and let us drive up to where he was buried today. I didn't call my mom since I honestly was still angry with her.

His plot was right next to my grandma's so I knew exactly where it was. Andy squeezed my hand as I saw a grave with flowers all over it and a sad forgotten plot next to it.

The flowers in my hand were baby blue. For a baby boy. And black fake roses for my father since they were his favorite 'flower'.

I laid the blue flowers down on my grandmothers grave and the black flowers on my father's. Tears already started rolling down my cheeks as I read the words.

Mark Johnson. Love loving father, husband, son, brother and friend. 1962-2011.

I sank down to the ground and traced my fingers over the lettering. Andy sat next to me, only our knees touching.

I couldn't believe this was real. That my father was six feet under the ground right now. That he wouldn't be able to walk me down the aisle or hold my first child or be around to make me laugh or take me to Busch Gardens. He was truly gone and the fact had finally seeped into me.

I wiped away my tears and sighed heavily. "Well she wasn't lying." I said, sadness cloaking my voice. Andy reached over and took my hand, softly rubbing my knuckles.

"I'm so sorry, Cor." He said. I shook my head, tears choking me up and rested it on his shoulder.

"He was a great father." I sobbed, covering my face with my hands. Andy pulled me on his lap as I cried. He just rocked me back and forth. "I feel like I've lost everyone."

"Hey.." Andy said, smoothing my hair down. "Not everyone. You haven't lost me. You won't lose me, I'll always be here. Same with the guys and Keenan. We're all here for you, baby. I promise." I nodded against his chest and sighed. A soft smile came to my face as memories with my father began to surface.

"Remember when he took us to Busch Gardens together?" I asked, softly. Andy smiled.

"How could I forget? He left us so we could be alone like any cool dad would do." He chuckled and I grinned.

"He was the only one who understood me next to my grandma. One of the only ones who accepted me gift." I said.

"Speaking of that, how bad is it here?" He asked.

"Terrible, but it's worth it." I smiled.

"I'm sorry, babe. I figured it wasn't the best here." He said.

"It's whatever." I sighed. Suddenly I got an idea. "I need to go get a tattoo for him." I said, standing up and pulling Andy with me.

"Wait what!?" He chuckled.

"I want to get a tattoo for him! I have one for grandma, come on. I know a guy." I smiled. He just shook his head, smilif and followed me. Away from my fathers grave.
