My Prophet

Fade To Blue

I slid my credit card in the check, after convincing my parents that it was my treat. Coralie stared at the waitress anytime she passed by us, and I knew it was killing her not saying anything. We were going to have to tell my parents soon or later. I know they would be receptive. They just met, and are already talking about our marriage!

Honestly, I had been thinking about asking her to marry me for about a month now. I've loved her since before we started dating, and I need her to be mine forever. The waitress came by and picked up the check. I noticed a small tear fall on Corrie's cheek, and she immediately wiped it away.

"If it's that important, then talk to her." I whispered, while my parents were having a conversation of their own.

"Not while your parents are here, babe." She shook her head.

"They'll understand, honey." I wiggled my eyebrows, making her laugh.

"Your sure?" She bit her lip.

"Yes." I nodded.

"Should we tell them first?" She asked. I sighed heavily and looked over at them. They wouldn't be afraid, but I know they'll believe her easier if they see her in action.

"No. Just do it." I said, jerking my head towards the waitress who was walking over to us- check in hand.

"Here you are. Have a goodnight." She smiled.

"Thanks!" My mom said, moving to stand up.

"Uhm actually can I ask you something?" Coralie asked, exhaling. My parents looked taken back as they sat back down. My father raised an eyebrow at me, and I just nodded towards Corrie.

"Of course!" The waitress said.

"Is your, uhm, is your father deceased?" Coralie chewed on her cheek.

"Yes he is." She nodded.

"And it was a shooting, correct? Totally freak accident?" Corrie picked at her nail.

"Yeah, how did you know that?" The waitress looked taken back.

"I'm actually a medium, which means I'm able to communicate with people who have crossed over and your father wants to deliver a message to you." Coralie said, her voice shaking. I glanced at my parents, whose mouths were hanging open as they watched this go on.

"O-okay." The waitress got teary eyed.

"Well he told me to tell you that he is really worried about your mother. And he wants you to-" Coralie stopped for a second, "Okay, your father is so loud cause he is yelling at me right now, just saying tell her about the bikes, she'll know what I'm talking about!" The waitress laughed, heartily.

"That's him." She smiled, "When I was little we used to ride our bikes all over the neighborhood together and my mother hated it!"

"Perfect. Well he says to watch your mother closely. He thinks she's to stressed, and she misses him too much. He says to spend more time with her, do you understand that?" Coralie looked at her pointedly.

"Yes." The waitress swallowed hard.

"What is it about Boston?" Coralie cocked her head to the side.

"Oh my god." The waitress ran her hands through her hair, and laughed breathily, "I'm moving to Boston next week." My dad sucked in his breath.

"Alright. Well he says he doesn't want you to leave her." Corrie said, sadness in her tone.

"Okay." She nodded fiercely. "Can I have a hug for that?"

"Oh of course!" Coralie exclaimed, standing up and wrapping the girl in a hug.

"Like thank you so much." The waitress said, happily.

"Anytime!" Coralie smiled, and I stood up along with her. My parents following suit. "Thanks a bunch!" I grabbed her hand, and we all walked out to my car. Once we got in my father sighed.

"Alright, I think we need an explanation." He chuckled.

"I'm sorry we didn't tell you," Coralie sighed, "I wasn't sure how you would take it. My grandmother was a medium too, and I've been one for as long as I can remember. I can't really control when spirits come they just do and always bug me until I talk to the person they want me too."

"Wow that was just..amazing though. You have a beautiful gift." My mother smiled, and I sighed. I knew my parents would be receptive as I was.

I know the feeling. My stories from two years ago on here are just cringe-worthy in my opinion. But I definitely can relate to the your main character already just because of the the dance aspect. Kind of reminds me of my series "The Mortician's Daughter/Lost It All" and "Wretched and Divine/Ohio Is For Lovers" Those two series are dance related which are my favorite types of stories to write
