"Stop crying you fat twerp or I'll get you next!" Her father yells to Emily as he beats her mother. Emily watches with tears streaming down her face.Curled up and sitting in the staircase watching the shadows of her mom and dad.

Emily shutters and rubs her eyes trying to forget that night. Trying to get the image of her father and mother out of her head. Trying to not think about all his harsh words or all the nights he spend beating her.

Emily's POV
"He can't hurt me now." I say to myself as I grab my backpack. One more week, I think to myself, One more week of school. I bite my lip, (being a bad habit of mine.) I hop into my car and drive to Marzia's house like I do everyday.
I pound on her door and Andy answers the door. "Hey little one. Marzia will be ready soon she's just finishing up getting dressed." He says. God his beautiful blue eyes are my kryptonite!
"I'm not little." I mumble.
"hmm?"
"Nothing.." I bite my lip.
"You should pin your hair back, It's always in your beautiful face." He says.
My face turns bright red. "Uh- Marzia are you almost ready?" I yell
