We Don't Belong
Flying
Andy had shattered three of his left ribs and displaced one and would be in the hospital for a couple of days to be sure that they started healing right. He was lucky that, that was all he injured, I watched the tape that Katelyn was making and it could have been way worse. Matt had called his parents and his mom was flying in from Ohio. Unfortunately the doctors and nurses would only let Matt and I into the room at the moment because we had lied and told them that I was Andy’s fiancée and Matt was his brother. It was some stupid hospital policy or something.
“Hey.” Katelyn whispered from the door way, escorted by one of the nurses.
I got up from my seat beside Andy’s bed. He was knocked out from the pain medication that they had given him.
“I snuck in unfortunately, they caught me.” She joked, trying to cheer me up. She handed me my messenger bag with a change of clothes, my laptop and some other necessities. I looked through it real quick.
“You forgot my shoes.” I pointed out. “Now I’m going to have to walk around in my pajamas with my biker boots.”
“Hey you’re lucky I remembered underwear and a tooth brush.” She answered. “CC was rushing me; he wanted to get back here ASAP.”
I nodded and gave her a small smile, “Thanks Katelyn.”
She gave me a small smile back. “I’ll see you tomorrow, CC and I are going to head home since they won’t let us in today.”
I nodded, “Bye. Thanks again for getting me my stuff.”
“No problem.” She said and then left with the nurse escort.
I sat back down in my chair and sighed. Might as well get some homework done. I had enrolled in an online physical anthropology course for the summer so that I could get some credits out of the way. I had a five page paper due in variations in male and female skeletons. “Do you mind if I turn on music? I’m going to be doing some homework and it usually helps me focus better.” I asked looking back at Matt who was on the couch on his own laptop.
He shrugged his shoulders, “Doesn’t bother me. I have to leave in about an hour to pick up Andy’s mom anyways.”
I nodded and pulled out my laptop, “Thanks.” I put on my Black Veil Brides playlist and pulled up the word document that had my paper started on it.
I was halfway through the paper when Matt got up from his spot. “Do you need anything while I’m out?” He asked.
“Um…can you pick me up an Amp please? Any kind except the yellow one.” I answered looking up from my computer.
He nodded, “Yeah. I’ll also bring back some food. You haven’t really eaten anything all day. Anything you want specifically.”
I shook my head, “No it doesn’t matter.”
“See you in an hour or so.” He said leaving the room.
I tried to start my paper again but just couldn’t really concentrate as mine and Andy’s song Rebel Love Song came on. I started to sing along softly.
“I like your singing.” Andy mumbled groggily. “I’ve never heard you sing before.”
I looked up from my computer to see him looking at me. “You’re obviously high on whatever they gave you because my singing is horrible.”
He chuckled and then winced, “Ow. What are you working on?”
“Homework. Do you need me to call the nurse or something?” I asked shutting my laptop.
He shook his head, “What are we learning?”
I smiled and leaned forward so that I was leaning on the bed. I picked up his hand and held it up to mine, comparing the size. “The differences in male and female skeletons. I have a five page paper due on it.”
“You should lay next to me.” He said looking at me.
“I don’t know Andy. I don’t want to hurt you.” I answered putting his hand down.
“Please.” He begged. “Like we do when we sleep. I like to play with your hair.” He admitted. It was so cute.
“Fine.” I answered, taking off my boots and then got onto the bed carefully so that I didn’t move him too much. I laid my head on the right side of his chest careful not to put too much weight on it.
Andy started to play with my hair, running his fingers through it. “Can you sing to me?”
“You’re really pushing it boy.” I smirked, and buried my face into his chest.
“Please, Riley?”
I sighed, “What do you want me to sing?”
“Surprise me.” He said and kissed the top of my head.
I thought about it for a second and then started to sing Broken by Seether and Amy Lee. “I wanted you to know, that I love the way you laugh, I wanna hold you high and steal your pain away. I keep your photograph, I know it serves me well, I wanna hold you high and steal your pain, Cause I’m broken when I’m lonesome, And I don’t feel right when you’re gone away.” I continued singing it and when I was done some one started clapping from the door.
I looked to the door to see Ashley standing there. “What are you doing here?” I asked with a smile.
“Ash.” Andy smiled at his friend.
“I broke through the lines of the dark forces.” He answered. “So how are you feeling?” Ashley asked walking into the room.
“Like shit.” Andy responded.
“Yeah Katelyn showed me the video. That was quite a fall.” Ashley chuckled.
“He’s lucky he didn’t break anything else.” I mumbled.
“And you Miss Sunshine, I thought you were going to deck Matt in the face.” Ashley said turning his attention to me.
“Why would she do that? She and Matt get along.” Andy asked sounding confused.
“Katelyn told me she didn’t get that part.” I said angry.
Ashley nodded, “Oh she got the whole thing. It was probably the best part of the whole video.”
“What are you guys talking about?”
“Riley’s reaction to you falling. She flipped and Matt held her back from rushing onto the stage. She started crying and everything.” Ashley explained, embarrassing me. I hid my face in Andy’s chest. ”Would have won an Oscar if there was one for reaction to your boy toy falling off of a 15 foot pillar.”
“Shut up Ashley.” I groaned.
“She was pretty badass back stage taking command and everything. It would have been a total turn on if I wasn’t in so much pain.” Andy joined in on the teasing Riley moment.
“At least I’m not the idiot who fell off of a 15 foot pillar.” I retorted. “I mean what the hell were you thinking?”
“Well I wasn’t really thinking much at the time just that I wanted to get down, so flying seemed to be a good option.” Andy responded.
“Only you can make a joke out of something like this. You could have died, you do realize that.” I answered slightly irritated. It was a long day and I was tired and the fact that the boys were joking about this just kind of irked me.
“Awww she’s so cute when she’s irritated.” Ashley teased.
I flicked him off which only caused him to laugh.
“Leave the poor girl alone.” An unfamiliar voice said from the door way.
Everyone looked over to the door. Andy’s mom (I recognized her from a picture Andy had shown me) and Matt were entering the room.
I suddenly got nervous. Andy’s mom was in the same room as me and I was just there laying with her son. Not exactly the position you want to be in when you first meet a guy’s mother. Even if we weren’t doing anything. I sat up too quick and ended up falling out of the bed because I was closer to the edge than I thought.
Everyone gasped except for Ashley, the ass hole laughed. “Are you okay?” Andy asked.
“Yeah I’m fine.” I said getting up off of the floor. “I was closer to the edge than I thought.”
“I could come up with so many things right now.” Ashley said smiling.
I just ignored him, “Hi Mrs. Biersack, I’m Riley.” I said introducing myself to Andy’s mom.
She smiled, “You can just call me Amy. And I know who you are, I’ve heard so much about you from everyone and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen you in a few pictures and interviews with Andy.”
“I hope everything you’ve heard is good.” I replied. “But then again it depends on the person you’re getting the information from, I guess.”
She laughed, “Don’t worry it’s all good.”
“Yeah but she hasn’t heard what I have to say about you.” Ashley said with a grin.
“Nobody wants to hear your opinion.” Matt joked setting the bags he had in his hands on the couch. “Besides how did you get back here? The last time I checked they were threatening to sedate you.”
Ashley shrugged, “I’m just that good.”
“He probably seduced one of the nurses or something.” Andy replied.
“She was an intern physician, which reminds me…” He looked at his cell phone. “I have to go. I have a date tonight. Terms to the agreement. See you tomorrow Andy.” Ashley said and then left the room.
Andy’s mom looked at Matt, like she was signaling him to do something. “Well, I should probably be off too. I have such a long day tomorrow.” Which I knew he was lying because I knew he was planning on coming back here. He left leaving just me, Andy and his mom.
Did that mean that she wanted some alone time with Andy? “Umm…maybe I should be going too.” I said awkwardly, putting my laptop in my bag.
“Please stay.” Andy responded.
“Yeah please do.” His mom added.
“I thought you would want to be alone with Andy and all.” I said shouldering my bag.
She shook her head, “No, the reason Matt left is because I want to be alone with you and Andy.”
