One-Shots

I don't know how long Jenna and I had been trapped in that jail. I used to be able to keep track, but everything has blurred together. Jenna used to sing to me when she noticed I was more sorrowful than usual, but her singing had long since stopped. I wanted more than anything to be back at base camp with all the other Wild Ones.

I glanced over at Jenna, who was curled up at the other end of the cell. Her light, blonde hair was now greasy and looked grey from the dust and dirt that coated it. Her whole body was covered in dried mud and dirt, as was mine. We had both lost a lot of weight from being under-fed, making us well under-weight. Her eyes were the saddest part of her, though. They used to be a gorgeous blue with a bright light behind them. Now they were dull and almost lifeless. F.E.A.R. did this to us, and once we were out of this foul place, we would make sure that they will pay for what they have done, not only to us, but to every other one of their innocent victims.

My eyes started to droop and the next thing I knew, I was asleep.

I was awakened by Jenna violently shaking me.

"What?" I groaned.

"Shh. They're here, Crysana. They've come to rescue us," Jenna whispered.

My eyes widened in shock. I looked over to the door, and soon enough it was opened, revealing Andy, Ashley, CC, Jinxx, and Jake. They really had come.

Andy took a chain of keys and quickly found the right one for the lock. He opened our cell and we got out of it as fast as we could.

"Follow us," Andy whispered.

We did as we were told and walked with them through the dank and deserted hallways. At any second I was expecting for a shadow demon to attack us, but we made it to the entrance. I was almost blinded when they opened the door. It had been ages since I had seen the sun, my pale skin being proof of this.

We started running with the last amount of remaining strength we had. My legs were near the point of giving out and my lungs were on fire, but I didn't stop. I kept running. I didn't dare to look back. That would only have slowed me down, plus I was too terrified that a shadow demon would be there.

We had been running for a while. The sun had started to set along the horizon. I missed what a sun set looked like. I had forgotten the beauty of it.

"Stop," Andy ordered.

I did as he said and I took in my surroundings. I was back at the base camp. I couldn't help but to smile as I looked around. I saw the dozens of Wild Ones. My family. Jenna collapsed on the dry ground next to me and began to cry.

"It's okay. We're home," I cooed to her as I bent over and hugged her.

"Come on. We should probably get you both some food and something to drink," Andy told us.

I picked Jenna up off of the ground and followed Andy into one of the tents.

He sat down on one of the cushions on the floor and we followed suit. He dished us out a few bowls of some sort of stew and poured us two cups of water.

"Thank you," Jenna said.

"You're welcome. Now, I know for a fact that they will notice your absence soon enough and they will do everything in their power to get you back and distroy the Legion of the Black and the Wild Ones for once and for all. So, for now you should eat and get some sleep. We will alert you when they come, but we need you to be prepared for a war."

With that, Andy got up and left the tent.

I looked down at my bowl and slowly lifted it to my lips. It tasted like I had remembered. I wanted to savour the taste, but as my stomach let out a loud growl, I gulped it down. I had forgotten how long it had been since I ate anything of substance. I turned to Jenna and noticed that she was doing the same thing as I had.

Once I had drank my glass of water, I laid down and covered myself in one of the tattered blankets that were in the tent.

"Good night, Jenna," I whispered.

"Good night, Crysana."

I closed my eyes and drifted into the best sleep I had had in a while.

"Crysana! The shadow demons!" Jenna shouted as she shook me awake.

I shot up and scrambled to find a weapon. I found a couple of swords make out of some kind of rock. I kept one and handed the other to Jenna.

We exited the tent and saw a dozen of shadow demons heading out way. Jenna and I formed ranks behind our leaders. The adrenaline in my system was pumping wildly. I could die. I could actually die.

The shadow demons reached us and halted ten feet away. The silence was startling. The way the shadow demons stood there, towering over us and just staring, sent a wave of fear through me.

My fear soon evaporated, however, when I heard Andy's battle cry. Today was the day that I showed those shadow demons that they messed with the wrong girl. The Legion of the Black and the Wild Ones charged.

The first ten minutes of the battle were a blur. I remember fighting with a shadow demon, and after getting a bit battered and bruised, I stabbed the shadow demon in the stomach and it fell to the ground. Instead of lying there like a dead human would, it dissolved into the ground.

I looked to my left and to my right. I saw at least ten dead Wild Ones on the ground. Their blood seeped into the dirt. It made me sick and only fueled my desire to destroy them all. I saw the Legion of the Black standing their ground against five shadow demons.

I finally focused my attention onto a shadow demon that was fighting Jenna. She was losing. I charged it and took it by suprise. I landed a few strikes into it and saw the shadow demon collapse to the ground and dissolve.

I turned towards the Legion of the Black and saw that there was only one shadow demon left. The leader. It was larger and more menacing than the others. I saw it raise its weapon. I screamed and ran towards Andy. I pushed him out of the way just in time, but I felt a sharp pain in my side.

I glanced down and saw blood pouring from my stomach. I heard Andy, CC, Jinnx, Jake and Ashley shouting. My vision started blurring, but I witnessed my leaders strike the shadow demon down. It dissolved and they let out a victory cry, as did the Wild Ones. We won. We actually won. A smile formed on my lips, then I fell into blackness.

I opened my eyes and noticed that I was in my tent. I tried to sit up, but the pain in my side was too much. I heard some shuffling outside of the tent. Andy entered and he looked tired, but happier than I had ever seen him.

"You're okay," he smiled.

"Define okay," I smirked.

"You saved my life. I can't thank you enough," Andy said.

"You saved me first, so I say we're even."

Andy gave me a small smile. He kneeled over me and pressed his lips to my forehead.

"Thank you," he whispered.

"You're welcome," I smiled.
