LEGION OF THE BLACK

The stench of burning flesh was still strong in the air the following morning and it filled Josh’s lungs making him want to heave as he began to work once again on the Skull and Chains he was making. Andy and a couple of the Wild Ones had gone out Skull hunting as he was close to running out. Josh looked around but he couldn’t see Mackenzie anywhere… still asleep no doubt.

He sighed and felt his heart sink… yesterday she’d told him she was madly in love with Andy and had been for ages.

Josh let a few tears fall, ever since he’d first laid eyes on Mackenzie he’d fallen head over heals for her. But she didn’t see him as anything more than a friend.

He carried on working, trying to push it from his mind, but he couldn’t and ended up throwing the Skull he was working on down in temper. What he hadn’t realised was that Ashley had been watching him.

The Legion member made his way over to the young Wild One, to check make sure he was okay. Josh was on his knees on the floor in tears.

Ashley put his hand on the young lad’s shoulder, “Josh what’s the matter?”

Josh looked up to meet Ashley’s gaze, tears streaming down his face.

“Oh A-Ashley… I-It’s nothing, it doesn’t matter,” Josh tried to wipe his tears away but it didn’t work, more just came flooding out.

Ashley knelt down on the floor next to Josh and put his arm around him, “If it’s making you cry this much then yes it does matter.”

Josh looked at Ashley and then back at the floor… “I-It’s Mackenzie…”

Ashley raised an eyebrow, “Your blonde friend right?”

Josh nodded, “Yeah her.”

Ashley’s eyebrow stayed raised, “What’s happened? Ya’ll argued?”

Josh shook his head, “No nothing like that…”

Ashley’s face now displayed an utterly confused expression, “Then what?”

Josh took a deep breath and brought his gaze up to meet Ashley’s, “I love her.”

Ashley looked even more confused “How is that a bad thing?”

Josh gulped and looked to the floor again, “S-She yesterday admitted to me that she likes A-Andy…”

Ashley gasped, “Really?!”

“Yeah…”

Now Ashley looked gob smacked “Fuck! I’d have never thought… like wow!”

More tears poured from Josh’s eyes.

Ashley put a reassuring hand on Josh’s back, “Look mate, why don’t you take a break and go and lie down? I’ll tell Andy you aren’t feeling very well okay?”

Josh nodded yet again, not wanting to say anything else, he stood up and went into his silo and cried himself to sleep.

When Andy and the two Wild Ones returned, Ashley told them that Josh had been sick and was resting in his silo and also asked Andy if he could speak to him in private later, to which Andy agreed.

At 7pm, Andy and Ashley met up at their usual private place to talk.

“Hey Ashley, what’s up?” Andy asked when he arrived.

Ashley looked around to check make sure there was no one around, “It’s about Josh and also that Mackenzie girl…”

Andy’s heart skipped a beat, “Go on…”

“Well Josh told me he likes Mackenzie but earlier he broke down because yesterday she admitted to him she likes you…”

Andy’s jaw dropped, “S-She what?”

Ashley nodded, “She likes you…”
