LEGION OF THE BLACK

Chaos was probably the best word to use to describe the goings on in both the camp of the Wild Ones and the F.E.A.R. headquarters that following morning, chaos and panic. Andy, Jinxx, Jake, CC, Mackenzie and Loretta had their hands full helping everyone get ready and simultaneously keeping them all calm.

In the F.E.A.R. headquarters, Josh was tormenting Ashley, telling him he couldn’t wait to watch the light fade from Andy’s eyes as he killed him, to hear Mackenzie scream as she was made to watch Andy die. Ashley simply replied with, “Not going to happen” before going back to sleep. William then came along and told Josh he should be getting ready instead of wasting his time tormenting Ashley. Ashley heard this and quietly laughed.

By 12 o’clock, William, Josh and an army of 75 Shadows were preparing to leave headquarters, armed with staffs and William’s knowledge of Black Magic. At the camp, Andy, Jake, Jinxx and CC were heading an army of 64 Wild Ones, armed with handmade axes, clubs, skulls and chains, spears and daggers. Andy had a satchel of arrows on his back and his bow in hand, which he’d had plenty of practice with as he was planning to drive an arrow right through William’s heart, if he even had one.

It had been planned so that they would meet exactly halfway between the camp and the F.E.A.R. headquarters, which was a huge open desert space so there would be plenty of room for fighting. The F.E.A.R. army arrived first at the agreed location, and William just managed to address the shadows one final time before the Wild Ones arrived.

“We are not interested in the possibility of defeat,” he spoke in a deadly and serious tone, “Not within the silence of a deserted alley, nor the clamour of a crowed street. F.E.A.R. cannot be vanquished, we cannot be destroyed. F.E.A.R. will rise up again and control the masses, take back the power, and crush the insurgent hoard! As war fades into the distant memory of enlightened pigs and open wounds, the rebels will begin to perish and one by one, they should, feel the fear of dying young, they won’t ignore the chance to scream, they’ll lie awake at night in terror admitting, F.E.A.R. will return to glory. In the story of rebels, who set out to conquer, will finish…”

“IN BLOOD!” Andy finished William’s sentence for him. The Wild Ones had arrived.

“Andrew…” William smiled his twisted evil smile, “It has been too long.”

Andy snarled, “Not long enough! And you…” Andy’s eyes moved to Josh, “You’d better have a good explanation for what you’ve done!”

Josh smiled, “Is it not obvious? Ashley figured it out pretty quickly! Not that it did him any good.”

Andy growled, “What have you done to him!!”

“Oh nothing much…” Josh also evilly smiled as two Shadows came out from behind him, dragging an either very unconscious or dead Ashley.

“You bastard!” CC yelled, “How could you?!”

“Quite easily I assure you,” Josh smirked, “Though he wasn’t the one I wanted to hurt but he was a good enough substitute, until now…” Josh’s eyes, that used to be a nice shade of brown were now pure black and fixed on Andy.

“What have I ever done to you?!” Andy yelled, “I fed you! I gave you a place to sleep! I made sure you were cared for! I never hurt you!”

Josh laughed, “You still don’t get it do you?”

Andy glared at Josh who sighed.

“Fine then, I’ll tell you! You want to know what you did?! You took what was rightfully mine!! She was rightfully mine!!”

At first Andy was confused, but then he saw Josh’s gaze switch to meet Mackenzie’s, and he understood, remembering the conversation, just as Ashley had.

“Jealousy!! Because she loved me and not you?!”

“What?!” Mackenzie gasped, “Josh is this true?!”

Tears fell from Josh’s eyes and he screamed, “You were mine!! MINE!!! And he stole you from me!! And then I realised just what a whore you are!! Now I see! You’re perfect for one another!! I am where I belong!! I have a place I belong unlike you freaks!! I don’t need any of you!!”

“You were a freak once too!!” Mackenzie yelled back, “And you did belong... with us!! Do you remember the day not too long ago?! When Andy brought Chloe’s body back? You were ranting about how they would pay for what they had done? And now you’re one of them!! Slimy, corrupted and evil!! You used to be my best friend Josh and I cared about you more than anyone!! I may have loved Andy but for you I’d have done anything… ANYTHING!! And now look at you and…” her eyes moved for a moment onto Ashley’s lifeless body. “Look what you’ve done to him!! You don’t deserve to live Josh. You will pay!! YOU ALL WILL!!!”

Jake pulled Mackenzie away from the front line towards the back, the Wild Ones formed a barrier in front them so F.E.A.R. couldn’t see them.

“You see what you’ve done to her?” Andy looked at Josh, “She did care about you! She did love you, and you threw it all away!! Now look at her. You’ve hurt her and you’ve hurt Ashley and for that YOU will pay!! Wild Ones!! Are you ready?!”

At Andy’s words the Wild Ones, CC, Jinxx and Jake and Macca, who’d now returned to the front line, began to chant, “We are the Wild Ones, they don’t understand, our time has come!!” Andy grinned and sang, “I AM THE CHOSEN WRETCHED AND DIVINE!!”

William snarled, “F.E.A.R. ATTACK!!”

Weapons crossed and battle cries rang out, the war had begun! Andy’s first task he set himself was moving Ashley body out of the way, he had a quick check, but could not feel a pulse, he growled and stood up to look around for Josh. Eventually he spotted him… running away!

“COWARD!!” Andy yelled as he took off after him, but was cut short by William tripping him up. “Are you going somewhere Andrew?”

CC had heard Andy yell and then he too spotted Josh running away. “Oh I see that’s your plan is it?”

After killing a Shadow that tried to take his head off, CC raced after Josh. Jinxx and Jake meanwhile were taking on several Shadows each, both of them already covered in blood, though none of it was their own.

“You!”

Loretta’s father had recognised her despite her have changed since he saw her last. “You traitor!! You’re no daughter of mine!!”

“Fine by me” Loretta drove her spear right through her father’s heart, “Wild One and proud!!”

“That’s the spirit!” Jake called to her, “Watch out!!”

Another Shadow knocked her down, she screamed!

“Loretta!!”

CC had reappeared; he swung his Skull at the Shadows’ head, driving two spikes into it and knocking it clean dead.

“Are you okay?” CC helped her up.

She nodded “Fine thanks for that!”

“No problem! Now what do you say we kick some Shadow butt?”

She giggled, “Sounds good to me!”

As the war raged on, things didn’t look too good for the Wild Ones, several of them were dead or very badly injured, but thanks to Jake and Jinxx’s valiant efforts, plenty of Shadows were gone too.

The mentioned pair had now left the battle and was heading for the F.E.A.R. headquarters to find out if there were any alive there that could help them. They’d taken spare weapons with them to give to the ones they would free.

“How do we get in?” Jake asked as they arrived at the front doors. “These are sealed tight!”

“You’re asking me like I’ve been here before!” said Jinxx, “I’m just as clueless as you!”

“Let’s look round the back…”

“Hey wait!!”

Jinxx ran after Jake who’d ran off round the back of the building, “I’m not that fast!!”

“Hurry up!!”

When Jinxx finally did catch up, he found Jake knelt on the ground next to a girl who was breathing but only just, by an open door.

“She’s alive,” said Jake “But barely…”

“Okay we’ll get her on the way back, let’s go inside!”

Inside the headquarters was, as they’d expected, deserted, apart from a few rats scurrying across the corridors here and there. Jinxx eventually found the dungeon entrance.

“Down here come on!”

“Wait up!”

Down in the dungeons they found quite a few alive, Jinxx counted a total of another 44 to add to the army, there were no dead bodies anywhere.

“Do they just leave you in here to die?” Jake asked one of the ones they’d freed as the group were leaving the dungeons, “or are the bodies elsewhere?”

“We don’t know… they just take someone once a week and we never see them again. You just pray it’s not you taken”

“Well you don’t have to worry anymore you’re with us now!” “

How did you get in? Where are all the Shadows?” someone asked. “Who are you?”

“I’m Jinxx and this is Jake.”

“You’re Wild Ones aren’t you?” another said.

Jinxx nodded smiling, “Yes we are and we’d like your help. At the moment, out in the desert we are in a huge battle against F.E.A.R., but things aren’t looking too good for us. If you have the strength in you then please, will you join us and help us win this fight?!”

The freed captives looked at one another for a moment.

“What will happen to us after?” one asked, “Presuming we do win and we survive?”

“You can come and live with us” Jake answered, “We still have plenty of space left in the camp and if need be we can make it bigger I’m sure.”

“We become Wild Ones?”

Jinxx nodded, “Yes. You can of course if you wish go after the battle and make your own way; of course if you want you can go now. We are not going to force you to do anything.”

“Then I will help. I will fight!!” “Me too!!” “And me!!” “Me as well!!”

Jake and Jinxx grinned at one another, “That’s great! Now follow us!”

Back outside, they gave the new army members weapons and Jinxx picked the unconscious girl up, not wanting to leave her there.

“Anyone recognise her?” he asked.

“Yeah that’s Eve Black!” someone piped up, “We wondered where she’d gone, is she alive?” “Yes but barely.”

“Enough chat!” said Jake, “Let’s go we’ve got a war to win!”

“Yeah!!”
