LEGION OF THE BLACK

Andy took the letter off CC. Ashley and Jinxx had both overheard the little conversation and came over to investigate, and seeing his four friends gathered together, Jake made his way over to them too.

“What’s going on?”

“It appears F.E.A.R. has sent us a message,” Andy said.

Their eyes all widened, “What does it say?”

Andy took the piece of paper out of the envelope and read it out loud.

“To my dear old friend Andrew and the Legion of the Black and the Wild Ones...”

At this point everyone had stopped what they were doing and were listening.

“In two days time we will meet in the desert and we will fight and F.E.A.R. will win. Fighting is never the best thing to do so I am giving you all another option of course, you can join us! Your little friend Josh has already made that decision and he knows he has done the right thing. It is an awful shame really Andrew, as you used to be on the winning side if you remember.”

Several people gasped, Andy hung his head but continued reading.

“Such a shame you threw everything away and for what? You won’t get your freedom, you will never win, you cannot escape F.E.A.R! Sincerely, William Francis Control.”

Andy looked up and everyone was staring at him, Ashley’s jaw was dropped, CC looked astonished. “You used to be a part of F.E.A.R?” “Yeah, my father was a Shadow… my mother just helped out with things around headquarters. I acted as I should but from the day I was old enough to think for myself, I knew what F.E.A.R. were doing was wrong! I soon rebelled and left all that behind.”

Loretta put a comforting hand on Andy’s arm, “Its okay I know how you feel, my father is a shadow too, my mother is dead though… she too thought F.E.A.R. were wrong, I wanted to save her but I couldn’t” “Both my parents are dead,” said Andy, “My mother killed herself after I left and my dad was killed by one of us…”

A few gasps emerged from some people; Andy let a couple of tears fall. Ashley hugged his best friend, “F.E.A.R. won’t win Andy. Remember your own words…” Andy nodded, “I know.”

“Andy,” one of the Wild Ones approached, “we need more wood…” “I’ll go.” said Ashley, “CC go and get Andy a drink.” CC nodded.

“Ash can I come with you?” Loretta asked. “Sure…” Ashley smiled, “Why not?”

While everyone went back to doing what they were before, Ashley and Loretta made their way into the desert to gather more wood, they found a few trees which looked decent enough. Ashley pulled his axe out and began to chop

“Ashley, watch out!!”

“What the Hell?!”

Two Shadows had appeared out of nowhere. One of them knocked him to the ground.

“Loretta run!” Ashley yelled, “Get out of here!”

“But…”

“Go!!”

Loretta watched in fear as one of the Shadows knocked Ashley clean out, she ran for her life, the Shadows didn’t follow. They took Ashley back to the F.E.A.R. headquarters, William was pleased.

“Is this one of the Legion?” he asked Josh. Josh gulped and nodded, “A-Ashley Purdy, the D-Deviant. He’s Andy’s best friend.”

William smiled, “How wonderful!”

One of the Shadows kicked Ashley, he stirred and his eyes slowly opened. The other Shadow grabbed him and pulled him upright. “Get your hands off me!!” Ashley kicked and squirmed, his eyes then landed on Josh.

“You traitor,” Ashley spat on the floor, “How could you?! No one could believe it when we found out!! It killed Mackenzie!!”

Josh’s heart sank at her name and he gritted his teeth, “Like she cares!”

“What’s that supposed to mean? You think she doesn’t care?”

Josh snarled and laughed, “Of course she doesn’t!! She’d be too wrapped up in Andy’s arms to care about me!!”

And then it struck Ashley, why Josh had done this, he remembered the conversation they’d had. “I love her.” “How is that a bad thing?” “S-She yesterday admitted to me that she likes A-Andy…”

Ashley gasped, “Jealously! You left us because of her loving Andy and not you?! That doesn’t mean she doesn’t care!! But being the selfish prick you are!”

Josh stepped forward and smacked Ashley hard across the face and pulled his knife out, “She was rightfully mine! Andy had no right to take her from me!”

Josh pressed the blade against Ashley’s cheek leaving a nice cut and blood trickled down Ashley’s face and neck.

“You’re a coward!!” Ashley yelled, “Andy had the guts to tell her he loved her!! If you’d have wanted her you should have got in there and told her first!!”

Josh growled and slash the knife across Ashley face leaving a huge, gaping cut, Ashley screamed. Josh didn’t stop there; he took Ashley arms and began making cut after cut after cut.

“Take him to the cells!” Josh ordered the Shadows when he’d finished. He smiled at Ashley, “Don’t think I’m done with you. I’ll see you again later.”

William was enjoying this very much, the Shadows did as Josh asked and dragged Ashley, who was slowly falling into unconsciousness again, away. Josh collapsed to his knees onto the floor.

William patted Josh on the back, “That was very well done my boy;” he smiled “I am very, very proud of you!” “I h-hate him so m-much!! I h-hate them all so much!!” William rubbed Josh’s back soothingly, “Shh dear boy don’t not worry, you shall have your revenge!”

Back at the camp of the Wild Ones, everyone had been continuing with the war preparation until Loretta came running in and collapsed just as she got threw the gates. Andy, CC, Jinxx, Jake and Mackenzie stopped that they were doing and went rushing over to her. CC got there first and threw himself onto the floor beside her and pulled her into his arms.

“It’s okay I’m here I’ve got you.” “Loretta are you okay? Where’s Ashley?” “S-Shadows took him…” was all she managed to say before passing out from exhaustion.

CC picked her up and took her to his silo, Mackenzie following right behind him.

Tears fell from Andy’s eyes; he punched the gates hard, making his knuckles bleed, Jinxx and Jake hung their heads in sorrow.

“F.E.A.R will pay for this…” Andy growled, “And if they hurt him one little bit, I swear to God they will know the true meaning of pain!!”

Everyone in the camp was kept well awake that night from Andy screaming in his sleep as he had a horrifying nightmare… But no one in the F.E.A.R. headquarters got much either due to Ashley screaming as he was tortured by Josh.
