LEGION OF THE BLACK

Despite the fact that they’d been partying till quite late, everyone was awake fairly early the next morning, well everyone except Ashley and Jake. CC and Jinxx had had to drag the pair to breakfast and give them painkillers and sunglasses due to them having hangovers. Andy’s head wasn’t 100 percent right either but he had to talk to everyone, they had to start preparing for war. Once everyone had eaten, even Ashley and Jake managed a slice of toast each, Andy gathered them all together.

“War is upon us,” he spoke when they were all present and listening, “Yesterday was only a small taste of what is to come. Yesterday we faced only about 9 Shadows. In the final battle we may be facing ten times that amount. We must prepare, we must train and we must plan!”

“But we plan, we get there, and all Hell breaks loose,” Jake piped up “Can’t we just go with the flow?”

Andy shook his head, “No offence to this lot but if we just went with the flow they would they stand a chance?”

“Good point.”

“What about those trapped in the prison in the headquarters?” Mackenzie asked, “What about Josh? There’s still no sign of him, it’s obvious F.E.A.R. have him.”

“Josh?” Loretta spoke up, “Young lad, short black hair and brown eyes?”
Mackenzie nodded, “Yes! Have you seen him? Is he ok?”

Loretta laughed, “Oh he’s more than fine… He’s more fine than you lot are.”

Several people raised their eyebrows; Andy put his hand on Loretta’s shoulder, “What do you mean?”

Loretta smirked, “He’s betrayed you… He works with F.E.A.R. now. He told the leader he realised he didn’t belong with you lot and wanted to join F.E.A.R. and after Josh told him a few things, the leader welcomed him with open arms.”

Everyone was in shock; no one could believe what their ears had just heard… Josh had betrayed them to F.E.A.R.! Mackenzie was stunned most of all, she’d known Josh the best out of everyone.

“Are you sure?” Mackenzie asked Loretta, tears forming in her eyes… Loretta nodded. That was all she needed… she turned away from the group and ran in the direction of hers and Andy’s silo.

Andy sighed and turned to his four friends, “I’m going to need your help here guys. CC I’m putting you in charge of helping with creating weapons, Jake I’m putting you in charge of training people to use them, Jinxx you’re in charge of teaching physical combat and Ashley, you and some others get some materials and paints and I want you to create banners on poles with our symbol on. Understood? Let’s do this!”

Everyone began doing as Andy instructed while Andy himself went to find Mackenzie, who had gone to their silo and was curled up in their blankets crying.
“Baby?” Andy lay beside her and held her close; she buried her face in his chest and cried. “Shh its okay I’m here sweetheart.”

“I c-can’t b-believe he’s d-d-done t-this,” she sobbed, “He w-was s-supposed to be my b-best f-friend!”

“I know baby and promise you I’m going to find out why he’s done this.”

More tears poured from her eyes, Andy’s chest was getting rather wet but he didn’t care. “Shh, baby please don’t cry, I hate seeing you upset. I know it’s hard but you’ve got to be strong.”

Macca wiped her eyes the best she could and nodded, “I know…”

Andy kissed her forehead, “Now, where’s that beautiful smile of yours?”

She giggled and a smile formed on her lips, Andy smiled too, “There! Perfect!”

“I love you Andy, so much!”

“I love you more Macca.”

Meanwhile, in the main F.E.A.R. headquarters, William had all his followers gathered, he had Josh stood by his side, the time had come to address them all.

“We expect a battle for humanity is about to begin, within each uprising, a vague sense of safety will ignite in you an unseen shadowy slipper of doubt towards those who protect and defend you… let the thought slip away and remain calm, stay close to F.E.A.R! Only we can protect!”

He paused a moment to take in everyone’s reactions before continuing.

“The rebels claim that a brave new world is upon us. Do not be fooled by the chicanery with which they lay their claim, it is false, and their uprising will not succeed! You will place your trust in F.E.A.R! You must!”

Everyone clapped and cheered; William smiled and looked at Josh, “I bet you are glad you have chosen the right side before it was too late?”

Josh nodded, “Indeed am Sir.”

“Good boy,” he turned to address everyone again, “Now get working, I want everything ready! We go to war in two days time! I shall send a message to our little Wild Ones informing them of this.”

At the mention of the Wild Ones, Josh felt a little twinge of guilt in stomach which made him want to be sick. He thought of Mackenzie but then thought of Andy. She wasn’t missing him, she’d be too wrapped up in his arms to care or even think about him.

Josh left the throne room, went to his own room and cried himself to sleep.

About an hour later, William’s message arrived at the Wild Ones camp, or more precisely, it came out of nowhere and hit CC on the back of the head.

“What the fuck?” he said as he picked it up, “Oh shit… Andy!!”

The Prophet himself had been working on making a bow and arrows to go with it, when CC called his name.

“Yeah?”

“This just came out of nowhere…” CC handed it to Andy, “It has the F.E.A.R. symbol on it.”
