Land Of The Lost

Jinxx POV:

“It’s been almost a week since Lynette was in the makeshift hospital. And ever since she’s been acting different; and I don’t know, it’s like she doesn’t see us.”

“Jinxx, you need to relax. She’s training and focusing on getting a better handle on who she is now.” Andy said as he looked around our small town from the watch tower where we stood.

“You don’t get it, she’s different.”

“If I didn’t know better, I’d say you were falling for her.” I looked at Andy in shock, was it that obvious?

“W-why would you think that? Besides she’s interested in Ash.”

“Is that jealousy? Wow, I never thought that the Mystic could get jealous easily.”

“Oh shut up.” He laughed and I smiled a little. “But seriously, she’s different.”

“Maybe she’s acting like she always has and it’s only different to us because we don’t know her that well.”

“I guess, well I’m going to take off and get back to work.”

“You mean trying to plan our next move.”

“As I said work.” I put my hand on Andy’s arm as I passed in farewell and made my way down from the watch post. I practically ran into Lynnette, who was taking the stairs two at a time. I managed to keep us both from falling down the stairs and realized that I had her pinned to the wall. “Um, sorry.” I moved back and looked down the stairs.

“Hey, Jinxx I was actually looking for you. I think I have the layout memorized and wanted to run an idea by you. Do you have time right now?”

Lynnette POV:

I waited for Jinxx to answer. I hoped that he’d say yes because I felt that he was the only one I could talk to about what I had thought up.

“Yeah, where do you want to talk?” Before I could reply to him, a girl screamed in town. We looked at each other for a few moments before we both took off towards the town square. The two of us slid to a stop behind a crowd of people, who were all just watching some poor girl get attacked by a shadow demon. Jinxx and I pushed our way towards the front of the crowd, I froze when I saw who the girl was. It was Kotta, my childhood friend. Jinxx stepped up next to me and looked from the girl to the shadow demon. “Lynnette, we can’t do anything to-”

“She’s my friend, I’m not going to let that bastard hurt her.” I squared my shoulders and took a few steps towards Kotta and the demon, and stopped dead in my tracks as the demon shoved his staff into her stomach. For a heartbeat, I saw nothing then just the shadow demon, the edges of my vision having gone red. I charged at the shadow, my twin blades drawn with electricity sparking off the metal. I plowed into the demon and knocked him away from my friend. Without giving the creature a chance to prepare I shoved one of my blades into it’s chest area and focused on sending electricity into it wanting to kill it as soon as possible. What felt like an eternity was surely just a few minutes, the sky darkened and a bolt of lightning struck the demon and in turn me. The demon was destroyed almost instantly while I was mostly alright, with just sparks of electricity shooting off my arms and my blades.

I slipped my blades back into their sheaths and turned to Kotta. I knelt at her side and put pressure on the wound, trying to focus enough for the healing magic I had yet to master. “L-Lynnette…”

“No, don’t talk Kotta…you’re going to be alright.” I hadn’t realized I had started crying as I took in the seriousness of the wound until I felt her wipe the tears from my cheek. “I won’t let you die…” I looked up as a shadow fell over me, “Jinxx…help her…”

“Lynnette…let me die, I deserve it…” I glared at Kotta, and shot a panicked look at Jinxx. He nodded and knelt on the opposite side of my friend, moved my hands off the wound and began healing her. I watched Kotta’s eyes close as Jinxx closed the wound. I gripped her hand and tried to calm down, I knew she had just fallen asleep due to the pain. I saw more than enough people go through it back home, but it didn’t stop me from worrying.

“Let’s get her back to the hospital.” Jinxx picked her up just as Jake and CC walked into the square.

“What’s going on, we saw a huge assed bolt of lightning hit here and thought someone pissed off our Mystic.” CC looked between us and took in the scene. “What happened?”

“One of F.E.A.R’s soldiers attacked a girl who I’m guessing was seeking shelter, Lynnette attacked it before too much damage was done.” Jinxx headed for the hospital, the crowd of people parting for him without being asked. I sighed and looked up at CC when he offered his hand to me. I smiled slightly, took his hand and stood up.

“So the bolt of lightning?”

“Was me yes…I’m so drained.”

Jake laughed, “I’d assume so, there’s not a trace left of the demon. You should go home and rest kitten, you look like you’re about to collapse.”

I glared half-heartily at Jake and nodded, “Might as well, by the way…I think I know where the other members of the legion are being held.I have a plan for getting into the place where they’re being held and getting them out.”

I'm sooo sorry this has taken me this long to write and upload. Just went through a break up, and just really depressed so I'm trying not to focus on reality but at the same time I haven't been doing anything. My mom put the Legion Of The Black in my xbox and turned it on. So once again, BVB has helped me escape reality. I'm writing the next chapter right now, so if I'm lucky and can escape for another few hours I might put up chapter 10 tonight. Thank you all for reading and subscribing.
