Our first concert
Birth, welcome to the world. SALLY!
3 months later, Sally pov.
I am due to give birth any day now, so everyone has come home. I'm not sure quite what to expect, everyone keeps telling me I will be a good mum but I'm not so sure. Rose just says its pre-baby jitters. It’s just me, Ash and Bex in the house, Ashley is still asleep upstairs and I and Bex are on the sofa talking with a cuppa. When I told her the truth of my little bump’s dad she was a little disappointed but she cheered up when I told her she was godmother. Then I felt it, an almighty squeeze on my stomach, it wasn’t like a quick this fucking hurt. I moan and Bex looks at me wide eye.
“Sally? Are you okay?” she asks, I shrug and cry out again as the pain comes. Then the most terrifying thing happens, my waters breaks.
I go into panic mode.
“Bex my waters just broke.” I say a little lost for breathe, she looks at me and has the same panic in her eyes. What is a 21 year old and a 19 year old meant to do in this situation?
‘Oh god’ she mouths; she runs up stairs and grabs a towel, sprints back down the stairs and cleans up the mess. I notice that Ashley has joined her. He is looking exactly like Bex worried and panicked. He picks me up and moves me to the other sofa.
“Sally, look at me” he says gently. I grab his hand
“I'm not ready for this” I whisper I'm so scared, I feel numb so numb I don’t know what to do. He shushes me and looks me in the eye.
“Yes you are.” I nod. He smiles. “Right, do you have an emergency bag?” he asks and once again he nods. “Where is it?”
“The green one in my bedroom” I say. This time he nods and rushes up stairs. Becca moves to my side. I smile at her knowing how scary it must be for her.
“I’ve called everyone and they are on their way, do you need anything?” she says hastily.
“Bex calm, can you fill a bottle up with water?” I ask she nods and goes and does it. Ashley walks back in and he has got my green bag.
“Ok baby, do you want a hospital birth or a home birth?” he asks. What is it with all the questions but I quickly answer.
“Hospital I don’t want anything to go wrong.” I say he nods and shouts to Bex.
“I'm going to go get the car round text the others so they know what’s going to happen.”
“Okay” she shouts back she hands me my water and I smile at her. I start to play with my hands; this is how I calm my self. Time moves slower now. Then another contraction washes over my I cry out and remember what the midwife said ‘breathe and it will get easier, short pants.’ I do what she says and it works. I get carried into the car, even with my protests of walking.
“Don’t break the speed limit.” I say as he puts my in the back with Bex, he winks at me and I raise my eyebrow.
“I mean it.” I say and he laughs. I sit in the car and wait.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We soon reach the hospital and I am put into the baby ward, my midwife- Nicole, burst in and looks at my belly.
“Bout time this little bugger decides to show its face” I smile at her.
“In about five minuets you will be ready to push okay?” she says I nod incapable of words. I grab Ashley’s hand the others have only just turned up. I close my eyes.
‘Everyone up there please give me the strength to get through this, I need it,’ I pray silently to my family. I open my eyes and Nicole nods
“Its time to push.” I nod. Here we go. She turns businessy and goes to get some things. I look at Ashley and smile he winks and I turn back to Nicole. “When you feel your next contraction push” I nod “I can see a head.” Nicole says. Bout time 5 hours!!! “Right Sally I know you are tired but I need you to give everything in this next push. You have Mr Purdy’s hand it’s a hospital don’t worry if you break his hand” she says. I faintly hear Ashley protest but the adrenaline is running to high. I feel the contraction coming.
“Big push now honey” Nicole says. I squeeze Ashley’s hand and he cries out, maybe I took Nicole’s advice to seriously. The baby’s out, the pain is over I sigh and sit back. Thank god.
“Congrats Sally, you have a lovely little girl.” Nicole says, she cleans her up and puts her in one of the baby clothes we brought her. “I'm just going to way her to make sure she’s healthy.” I really want to hold her but I know she needs to be checked first so I nod. I look at Ashley and his face is a mixture of expressions: pain, relief, happiness and love.
“Thank you” I say to him. He smiles and hugs me gently.
“No problem bubbles, just if you ever have a baby again try not to break my hand” I laugh and so does he. Nicole comes back with Maize. She puts her in my arms and I melt. She is perfect.
“Can you bring the others in please?” I ask she nods and soon everyone is in and gathered round the bed. We chat for a bit and they all have gotten little something for Maize or me. From Jake and Jinxx got me the pillow I wanted, Andy and CC got me and Maize a cot- the one thing I couldn’t get. Ella and Caitlin got Maize a teddy bear that was named Twixs. Rose and Megan got us a baby band, Josh and Bex got me a ring and Ashley bless him got me and Maize a necklace that joins up together.
“How are you feeling?” Jake says,
“Grateful but I keep seeing black dots and I feel as if I'm going to throw up.” I say with a shrug.
“WHAT!” Nicole shout she rushes over and I give maize to Ashley. She checks my heart monitor and franticly grabs her radio. The black dots are getting bigger and bigger then suddenly everything is black.

2 hours since Sally went into surgery. We aren’t sure what is going on but we know that there is I very high possibility that she might die. We are all sat in the waiting room none speaking or moving just waiting. Hoping and praying that she will be okay. Ashley is rocking little mai to sleep. All the girls makeup’s have run from the crying, and everyone’s eyes are red and puffy. We hear footsteps and everyone looks up. A doctor has walked through the door. I cross my fingers and hope that she is ok. Then I wait for the news.
