Angels and Saviors and Whatnot

"ALLISON CATHARINE CREEVES GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE RIGHT NOW!"
I groaned as I got up, still hurting from earlier today, and walked slowly downstairs. As I reached the bottom of the steps, I caught sight of my slob of a 'father'. When I was younger, maybe 5 or 6, my mother died from breast cancer. I had a pretty good life until then. When mom died, my dad became a drunk and abusive. He would take everything out on me and then go drink it off. Anyways, he turned around in his chair and motioned me to come to him. I walked slowly towards him, racing myself in case he decided to hit me right there.
"Allison, we have new neighbors. Did you know that Allison?"
"Yes sir, I knew."
"Allison did you meet the new neighbors?"
"I met their son, sir."
"Get over here." I walked towards him a little more and looked at him in the eyes.
"Go over there and invite them to dinner. Cook us a nice meal when you get back so I can make a good impression. Be polite, I raised you better than no manners." He grabbed my bruised arm and I yelped. "And make sure you look presentable. Cover up those bruises, they don't need to be thinking that I...hit you or anything."
He smiled and slapped my arm, making me cry out as tears sprung into my eyes. I ran to my room and looked for my concealer. I found it on my dresser, where I left it this morning, and applied some on my bruises and cuts and scrapes. When I finished I looked at myself in the mirror and I hated what I saw. My face was swollen a little bit and my hair was still matted. I kept hearing these voices in my head saying things like "Ugly, fat, whore, slut, worthless." I was 4 months clean, and I was pretty proud about that, so I pushed the thoughts away. I walked downstairs again, and tried to get out the door without being noticed.
"Allison, dear," I winced. "Not of word of the incident. I'm going to make myself look nice and I suggest you do the same when you get back."
"Yes sir."
I walked outside in the warm LA air and breathed in, trying not to hurt my ribs. I walked down the driveway and down the street a little ways until I got to Andy's house. I walked up their walkway and rang the doorbell. Andy answered the door with a pissed off look, but he smiled when he saw me.
"Hey Alli Cat," he said as he smiled.
"Hi Andy. Uhm, are your parents here? I wanted to invite all of you over for dinner. I'm making something special."
"Yeah sure, come inside really quick, let me ask them." I walked inside and stared at all the boxes until Andy came back saying to give him 5 minutes. He disappered into the hallway and came back with a white t shirt and blue jeans on and his hair was brushed out of his face.
"Mom, dad! Let's go!"
"Coming Andy!"
We all walked to my house and my father was wearing a blue dress shirt, brown dress pants and black shoes. He had a brown bow tie on and his face was fairly clean. For once.
"Uhm, sir, this is Mr. And Mrs..."
"Biersack, dear," Andy's mom said.
"Biersack. They're here for dinner. I'm going to clean myself up a bit, excuse me."
I walked up the stairs and into my room and I heard footsteps behind me. I quickly shut the door, afraid my father would yell or hit me again. I heard a soft knock and Andy's voice through the door.
"Alli Cat, it's Andy. I was wondering if you wanted help getting ready with all your bruises and such." I opened the door and peered into his blue eyes and let out a sigh of relief.
"Whoa, sweetheart, why do you look so scared?" His deep voice was so smooth, I wanted to wrap myself in it and fall asleep.
"My father gets scary sometimes, I'm okay, but yes, you can help me if ya want to." I backed up and let him into my room. He stepped inside and went to my closet, looking through some of my clothes.
"Andy?"
"Yes Alli?"
"Why did you kiss my cheek today? After you helped me with my bruises?"
"To let you know that you aren't alone. I knew what you were talking about, that's why I didn't press it any farther." He turned his arms over and said "I've only known you for a little while, but I'll show you that my past is as bad as yours."
Lining the inside of his arms were little white slashes. Each one looked so angry and depressed.
"Oh, Andy..." I looked up at him with sad eyes and saw that there were tears streaming down his face.
"They called me fat and ugly, and an emo faggot. They used to kick and punch me and I didn't know how else to deal with the pain of everyday."
I thought on his words for a little while and thought of something he would like.
"I need to tell you something after dinner, but right now, I need clothing that hides these bruises," I told him. He nodded and I wiped his tears away with my thumb. I smiled at him and he smiled back. I could get lost in his eyes all day, they were so perfectly blue. Have your eyes always been that blue?
"As a matter of fact, yes, they have," he said with a smirk. My face reddened, I said that out loud.
"Sorry..." I looked away before my face turned into a tomato. I walked over to my closet and pulled out a grey long sleeved V-Neck shirt and some loose black skinny jeans.
"Uhh...Andy?"
"Yes Alli Cat?"
"I need to change.." I looked at the floor a little embarrassed.
"Oh, right, sorry, I'll be outside." He walked out and shut the door behind as I got changed.
"All right Andy, you can come back," I called. He walked in and said "Alli, can I brush your hair?"
"What?" Did I hear that right?
"I mean, it's all tangled, and you're hurt, I'd like to help anyway I can."
"Uh, yeah, sure, my brush is over on my nightstand." He got my brush and sat on my bed, patting a spot next to him, motioning to me to sit down.
"Tell me if I'm pulling to hard," he said, and he started brushing my hair. When he was done, he put down my brush and started playing with my hair. After a few minutes, I realized that I still had dinner to make, and that my father was downstairs with Andy's mom and dad.
"Must be nice..." I said out loud.
"What is?
"Having a mother to take care of you." I turned around and looked at him with a sad expression. He looked at me with his ocean eyes and said, "I'm so sorry Allison."
"It's all right, Andy. C'mon, we need to go downstairs. Wanna help with dinner? I'm making grilled chicken with some green pesto sauce to go on top." (I make this all the time at home, by the way.)
"Sounds good. I'll help you when you need it," he said, smiling.

*Skipping dinner*

"Well Allison, I have to say, this was amazing," said Mr. Biersack with a smile.
"Thank you sir."
"You know, you can call us Chris and Amy, you don't have to say ma'am and sir."
"I respect you sir, I was raised with good manners." I flashed a smile to add to the effect.
"Mr. Creeves, it was nice to meet you," Andy spoke up.
"You as well, Andy. Thank you for coming and eating with us."
"No problem, sir. I'll see you tomorrow Alli", Andy added with a smile. We said our goodbyes and before Andy left he handed me a piece of paper that had his his number scribbled on it and something underneath. He hugged me and then left with his family.
"Go to your room Allison, I don't want to see you right now," my father barked at me.
"Yes sir."
When I got to my room, I looked at the scribbled part of the note Andy gave me.
It said "Thank you for being my savior."
