Angels and Saviors and Whatnot

Things Unwind And People Get Hurt

6:55 rolled around and I was just finishing my hair and makeup. I did my makeup to match the dress, black eyeliner and eye shadow with red lipstick. Not the whore looking lipstick, this one had a matte finish and it was actually really pretty. I piled bracelets onto my wrists to hide my fading scars. I was now 5 months clean and I wanted it to stay that way, without Andy noticing my scars.

I walked to Andy's house in my heels and rang the doorbell. He answered the door and I took in his outfit. Red and black plaid button up with his usual dark skinnies and red Vans. In his hands, he had a bouquet of white and red roses and a small card.

"You ready princess?" He stuck out a hand and handed me the roses.

"Ready as I'll ever be," I said, taking his hand.

We walked to his car and he opened the passenger side for me. I smiled and slid in, gathering the fabric of my dress so it wouldn't get caught in the door. I placed the flowers down as Andy ran around to the driver's side and got in. He buckled his seat belt and grabbed a CD out of the front compartment. He then placed the CD in the player and Carolyn started to play through the car speakers.

"Where did you get that?" My eyes were wide and so was my smile.

"Jon gave it to me, while you were primping, I got a CD," he said with a smile. I started singing along even though I think I didn't sound that good. We sang and laughed and talked until we got to our destination, which was in the middle of an abandoned field. A couple yards away from the car, a picnic blanket, a straw basket, and more flowers were placed on a patch of grass.

"Andy, did you do all this?" I asked, getting out of the car.

"Sure did, it was all for you, too. I feel so horrible for the other night, and I need to make it up to you. And since you won't let me do it at home, I'll do it here." He led me to the blanket and helped me sit down in my heels and dress. He sat down across from me and took my hand.

"Allison, I am so sorry for what I did, I feel horrible. I wanted to bring you here to make it up to you, and I think I'm off to a good start. Please, please Alli, forgive me, I don't know how to make you forgive me." He looked at me with his sad, dark blue eyes and gently squeezed my hand. Those eyes, they used to be sky blue, now they were sapphire. A very pretty sapphire, but why did they change like that?

"Tell me why you're eyes changed colors. And why you're so okay with Ashley touching me like that." I looked him in the eyes with a daring look. I wanted him to tell me the truth, no more lying.

He sighed and let go of my hand. "The truth?"

"All the way."

"Allison, I'm an Angel. A Fallen Angel. I was cast down to Earth to find my soul mate, and it just so happened that I found you the way my parents found me. Hurt, in need, and broken. They took me in and I told them everything. Like why my eyes change colors. I was born with blue eyes, lighter than when I first met you. My eyes get a darker shade of blue every time I fall harder for my soul mate."

I stared at him in disbelief. Why did he chose now to tell me?

"Okay, so what does that have to do with Ashley? Why didn't you tell me from the start?" I crossed my arms and raised an eyebrow.

"I was afraid, you would think I was crazy or something." He laughed awkwardly and rubbed the back of his neck with his hand. He does that a lot, but it's kinda cute. "Ashley knows he can't have you. He knows you're mine. Otherwise, he would've found you first."

"So that means," I started.

"Ashley Purdy is also a Fallen Angel." Andy finished.

"Holy fuck. Who else knows?" Why hadn't he at least told me this before his eyes went all wack?

"Just us, and now you. Remember when I kissed your cheek? I marked you. I knew you were the one, because I was told that your mate won't be perfectly structured. They won't always have their head held high. And they won't always be the one who has everything they need. Sometimes, you're the one they need. And I felt like you needed me most in the moment I found you Alli." He took my hand again and said, "I needed you, too."

I looked down and sighed, I had been so mean to him. He would try to apologize to me and I would ignore him most of the time. I can't believe I had been so stupid, and I felt horrible for it.

"I'm sorry for treating you the way I have..." My eyes were directed down by my brain and my cheeks were red with embarrassment.

"Alli, it was my fault, I was the one who cheated. Let's not talk about this anymore, okay?"

"Alright."

"Well, now that that's out of the way, let's eat," Andy said. He opened the basket and pulled out two sandwiches, two Cokes, and two bags of chips, placing them on the blanket.

"This is fancy," I said, taking a sandwich and a bag of chips.

"Yes, yes it is," Andy said, handing me a Coke and taking his own meal from the blanket. "How come you're not asking me questions?"

"What do you mean?"

"Usually, a person's reaction when I tell them that I'm a Fallen Angel, they ask me all sorts of questions, like how old I actually am, what's it like in heaven, all sorts of stuff. Why aren't you asking me questions?"

"I feel like it's kind of rude. I don't want to make you uncomfortable by asking you all these intruding questions, ya know?" I bit into my sandwich and tasted roast beef, lettuce, and honey mustard. Damn, this boy knows me well. I stared at Andy and smiled, having finally forgiven him for cheating. And as I looked into his eyes, I saw that they got a little bit darker, and a bright red color flushed over my cheeks. I can't believe he's falling for me, out of all the people he's ever met, he chose me.

But as I continued to stare, I saw a moving dot in the background coming towards us. Quite fast. It got closer, and I saw that it was a car. It was a rusty red pick-up truck with a Confederate flag waving behind it. My father's car.

"Andy, get up," I said, dropping the sandwich and taking off my shoes.

"Why?"

"We're gonna be doing some more running," I said, pointing to the fast approaching pick-up.

"God, can't he just leave you alone?" Andy asked angrily.

"I'm not sure, but now we don't even have enough time to get in the car," I said as I started running. I reached for Andy's hand behind me and caught it as I just kept running. Here I was again, running for my life.

"Alli, Alli, stop." Andy slowed to a stop and pulled me back with him.

"What!? Why!?"

"This is pointless."

"How so? We're gonna get run over if we don't keep going."

"Have you forgotten already?" I gave him a confused look and cocked my head to the side. He took off his shirt and said, "I'm an Angel, darling. I still have my wings."

He stepped back and held his arms out by his side. And then, beautiful black and grey wings sprung from his back. He smirked, walked over to me, grabbed my waist and whispered, "Hang on."

He flew up, with my body tightly attached to his. He then flew down a little and made me look at my father. I saw the shotgun he used to scare away teenagers (Specifically Stephanie and Devon) that would try to prank my house or something stupid. And I heard a loud pop. We dodged the first few bullets that whizzed by my head, but then-

"FUCK, I WAS SHOT," I heard Andy scream. And down we went, with me holding my breath the whole way down. Andy had managed to wrap his soft wings around me before we hit the ground, and he parachuted the fall enough to let us land with a small -thud-.

"A-Andy, are you o-okay?"

He lifted a wing to reveal a dark red hole in his stomach. He stood there on his hands and knees, and hissed and grabbed at the wound, and before my father could cock his gun again, Andy stood up, screamed, and shot a blue light out of his palms. The light surrounded my father and shot him backwards, leaving smoke and ashes in his wake.

Andy collapsed to the ground and groaned in pain. He rolled over on his back and placed a hand on his open wound. I ran over to him and held his head up with my hand.

"Oh, Andy...We're always getting ourselves hurt," I said softly.

"Alli, don't worry about me," he said hoarsely. "I'm fine, it should have healed by now though." I gave him a confused look and he chuckled. "Angel," was all he said and I mentally slapped myself. "We heal faster than humans."

"What was that thing you did with the light?"

"I blasted your father into another state. Literally. I think he's somewhere in Utah now, and he won't be able to find us for a while. "

"What else can you do?"

"I'll show you when I get healed up, right now, we need to walk back to the car. I've lost a lot of blood and I need to get stitched up." He tried to stand, and cursed on his way up. He was holding his side and gritting his teeth trying not to groan.

"You need some help there?" I asked, wrapping his free arm around my shoulders. He looked up and gave me a weak smile. We limped back to the car and I helped him into the driver's seat since I can't drive. I went back and picked up his shirt, carrying it to the car. Andy took his phone and called Ashley, telling him to meet us at his house in about 30 minutes to help stitch him up. Only he, Ashley, and I could know about this, since his parents would flip and send us to hospital, causing him to have to explain to the doctors and nurses what he really is.

"Alright Alli, help me get my shirt on." I slipped a sleeve on one arm and helped him with the other. I buttoned it for him, and cleaned up his bloody hand the best I could with the materials I had.

"You good?"

"I will be." He started the engine and started driving home.

"Andy?"

"Hm?"

"I'm not trying to be rude, but...how old are you?"

"It's not rude babe, you're just curious. I'm 1,600 years old. Crazy, right?"

"Damn..." I sat back in my seat and stared out the windshield. I'm dating an old dude.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

We got to Andy's house and found Ashley waiting outside in his car. As soon as he saw us, he got out of the car with a First Aid kit, not saying a word, and followed us inside.

"MOM! I'm gonna be upstairs for a little bit! Alli and Ashley are here too!"

"Alright hun!"

We walked upstairs to Andy's (our) bedroom and I helped Andy onto the bed. Ashley opened the First Aid and took out a needle, some thick thread and scissors.

"Andy, what did you do?" Ashley unbuttoned Andy's shirt and stared the wound down.

"Allison's dad found us on our date. I was trying to fly away and that bastard had a shotgun. I took care of it though, he won't be back for a while."

"Please don't tell me you used your Angelic Powers, you know those are limited," Ashley said as he took an alcohol swab and cleaned around Andy's wound.

"Only a little bit, I knocked him into Utah, I can guarantee it. That motherfucker better not come near us again, I'm tired of these near misses. He'll only learn from his mistakes, and he gets stronger. If I'm not careful, Alli could be in big trouble."

"Andy, I'm fine," I said, taking his hand and squeezing it lightly.

"Andrew Dennis Biersack, what have I told you about using your Angelic Powers? You can't get them very often anymore, and you're lucky you haven't run out by now. Alright, take a deep breath, let's stitch these wounds." Ashley took the needle and inserted it into Andy's skin, making Andy squeeze my hand and shut his eyes. When Ashley was done, he cleaned the wound again and packed up his kit.

"Jesus Andy, you're gonna kill the poor girl," He said when he saw how red my hand was from Andy.

"I don't like needles. I can stand tattoos, but not medical needles." Andy looked at me and gave me the same weak smile he gave me at the field. "Sorry I'm such a wuss."

"No worries, I don't like needles very much either." I smiled back and held his hand as we walked downstairs.

"Ashley honey, stay for dinner," Mrs. Amy said.

"Are you sure, Ma'am? I don't want to be a burden."

"You're never a burden, and never is Ms. Blush over there," she said, pointing at my reddened face. Ashley Purdy could be polite? Wow. Shocker.

"Thank you ma'am," Ashley said, and he exited the room, looking back and winking at me.

"Jesus, that boy needs help. Come on, let's go upstairs and watch some TV while mom cooks, I need to let this bullet hole heal up," Andy said. He dragged me upstairs and onto his bed, were we turned on Batman and just enjoyed each other's company.

Something still haunted me though. My father found us, again. He tried to kill me, again. But both times, I was with Andy. What's going to stop him if he ever gets a hold of me by myself? And what really happened to my mother? Why was my father chasing me in the first place? And what bothered me the most was that the only person who could answer that was my father.
