Fight Against All Odds

Chapter 2

I could barely see through the darkness of the van.

A small shimmer of light broke through the blackness as a person was shoved in. A muffled scream came from the person as I realized duct tape was covering her mouth.

I recognized her. Her name was Belle. My neighbor.

Some quick facts about Belle: I didn't like or dislike her, we have very different opinions on pretty much everything, she was dating my ex.
Surprisingly I didn't resent her too much. She was kind and a nice person to talk to. Besides, nothing special ever happened between my ex and I. The most we ever did was kiss, and our relationship lasted two months at the most.

My eyes were slowly adjusting to the darkness. I finally got up the courage to speak to her.

"Belle?" My voice came out barely a whisper.
A muffled noise was my response.
"Oh right, sorry!" I apologized as I moved over to her and pulled the duct tape of her mouth. I had failed to notice her wrists were also bound against her back. I leaned her forward and began to untie the complicated knot that held them together.
"Thank you," she whispered, her voice cracking slightly.
"What the fuck happened?" I said, then felt guilty because of the look of horror that now read on Belle's face. She HATED cussing.
"Sorry," I mumbled.
"It's alright it pretty much describes the situation," she said, her voice shaking.

I shivered even though it was warm in the van.

"Why did they tie you up like that?" I asked.
"They said I was screaming too much," Belle replied.

After a moment of silence all of a sudden Belle started sobbing.
"Grace I'm so scared what am I going to do!?!?" She cried.
"Shush we'll get out of this I promise," I whispered, putting a hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her.

A car door slammed and I felt the van start to move. Belle sobbed louder.

I sat in silence as my mind tried to process what had happened.

Some weird people from the government had broken into my house, drugged my parents, and kidnapped me.

I guess I wasn't going to Warped Tour.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
About twenty minutes later the van stopped. I recognized downtown Orlando. We were in city hall along with a couple thousand other kids.
All looked to be no older than 18.
I was pulled out of the van by a man dressed in gray, and shoved into a line with some other kids.
I heard Belle's screams behind me.
I silently waited in the line, confused, for about thirty minutes. Finally, I was beckoned to a desk with a strict-looking lady wearing gray seated behind it.
"Name?" She asked, not even glancing at me.
"Grace Christopher," I answered plainly.
"Age?"
"Fifteen."
The lady seemed to be looking through a stack of papers. As she pulled a paper out I got a glance at it.
It had my name on it, along with a list of facts about me. A random school picture of me was paper clipped to it.
The lady pulled out a small, gray bag from beneath her desk and handed it to me.
"In this bag contains your clothing, and paper with information on where you shall be living. Do not lose it," the lady said sharply before motioning me to exit the building.
"Living?" I asked.
"Your government-chosen families," she said with a smile that was more fake then Britney Spears.
I was escorted out of the building by two security guards. After they left I sat on a bench and looked through the contents of the bag.
The first thing to catch my eye was a paper that said "Your Government-Approved new name" on it.
Apparently I was now known as Theresa. No last name.
"Theresa," I said over and over again. The more I said it, the more fake it sounded.
I noticed a packet of papers in the bag. It read "Warning! Highly Dangerous People wanted for Death Penalty. If seen, please notify government authorities immediatly.
Intrigued, I flipped through the packet, finding names of wanted criminals.
All wanted for theft or stuff like that.
Nothing deserving of the Death Penalty.
As I flipped through more, I suddenly fell on a page entitled "Music".
"Those who have plagued the minds of our country's children with rebellious thoughts are most especially deserving of the Death Penalty" the caption read.
I felt sick. I looked down the list of names of bands and singers, with the member of the bands or the singer's real name under their title.
Some stood out to me like fireworks.
Asking Alexandria, Avenged Sevenfold, Bless the Fall, Blood on the Dance Floor, Black Veil Brides, Escape the Fate, Falling in Reverse, Evanescence, Bullet for my Valentine, My Chemical Romance, Nickelback, Pierce the Veil, Motionless in White, Sleeping with Sirens, and many more bands that I loved and were my heros.
Death Penalty.
I couldn't hold back the tears as they spilled all over my face. I hated crying.
I yanked another sheet of paper out of my bag which had the address of my new home on it. An apartment.
I walked towards the life ahead of me.
I am crying. i cant believe andy almost died. I often get fanfiction confused with real life, and since andy was a real person rather than just a character, it was like he really died to me. that was a sick joke >:(
