My Outlaw

Boarding the plane

The security guard came up to deal with us, but when we explained our story, he went over and handcuffed Mark for harassment. When everything had finally calmed down, I decided to tell the truth.
"It was..." I was having a hard time saying it, so I started to whisper. "It was because of him I started to cut." Ashley looked at me sadly, then side hugged me. Pain shot through my arm, and I yelped.
"What?!" He looked at my arm, and I saw my cuts had opened again. "Oh. I'm sorry! I didn't realize-"
"It's OK." I cut him off. "I compleatly forgot. I will be right back." I went up to the help desk, and I could feel him watching me the whole time. When I got to the help desk, I got one ladies attention.
"How can I help you, ma'm?" She looked emo, she had the haircut, and bandages over where her piercings would be. Underneath her uniform, I saw a band shirt peeking out. Looked like 'Peirce the Veil'. Nice.
“Hi. I fell in the bathroom earlier and I cut my arm. I think it reopened. Do you have a first aid kit?” She looked at her coworker.
“Hey. I’m going on a smoke break.” She winked at me.
“OK. Just come back in time. OK?” She nodded, and I followed her out the door.
“We aren’t supposed to give the…I guess we could call you guys ‘passengers’, we aren’t just supposed to hand out the first aid kit.” She pulled out a cigarette and a lighter. “Want one?” I nodded. Laura wanted me to quit, but oh well. Ashley didn’t know yet. I took the cigarette she handed me and lit it. Ahh. That was nice. “This is gunna sting.” I realized she was fixing my arm. The spray did sting, but I ignored it. “You didn’t fall did you?” I looked at her, shocked. How did she know? She laughed. “I used to be a cutter myself. I recognize the signs.”
“Yeah. How long have you been clean then?” I took another drag from the cigarette.
“Going on seven years.” She squirmed a bit. By this time, my arm was done and we were just smoking.
‘What? I can tell you have something on your mind.” She sighed.
“Is your husband Ashley Purdy?” I nodded, and I swear to God she fan girled. “Oh. My. God. You’re Amarie!” I nodded. “I am a huge fan of both the Black Veil Brides and the Guitar Girls! Wait…when did you guys get married?” I pretended to look at my fake watch.
“A couple of hours ago.” By this time, I was almost done with my cigarette. I snubbed it out. “Wanna meet him?” She fan girled again.
“Can I?” I nodded.
“How rude of me. I forgot to ask your name.” She laughed.
“Not really your fault. I already knew yours so you didn’t have to introduce yourself to me. I’m Michelle.” I smiled.
“Nice to meet you, Michelle.” We walked back in, and I went straight to Ashley. “This is Michelle. She is a big fan of both of our music.” He smiled.
“Hi. You probably know who I am then.” She nodded. While they talked about bands she liked and have seen, I got a piece of paper and a pen. I wrote my name and phone number.
“Here. If you ever want to talk.” She took it, and smiled.
“MICHELLE!” She sighed.
“And that is my cue to go.” She slipped the paper into her pocket. We said our goodbyes and walked away. Ashley hugged me.
“Why does your breathe smell like cigarette?” Shit. I completely forgot the cigarette.
“I smoke,” I admitted. I looked down, ashamed, thinking he was going to make me quit.
“Hey, no big deal. I would love it if you quit, but I won’t force you to. Andy smokes, and I learned it is a lost battle to fight to make someone quit.” He laughed. “Anyway, we should head out.” Shit. I was outside, so I didn’t hear any plane announcements. We walked over to a terminal, and I realized something important.
“Ashley.” He looked at me. “My knife is still in my shoe!” He didn’t hesitate. He opened his bag, grabbing my knife at the same time.
“Sorry baby. I know my passport is here.” He shoved my knife into his stuff and acted as though he was looking. My cue.
“Honey,” I said, playing along, “I have your passport.” He looked up, and I showed him mine. It didn’t matter. I handed it to him. “You already have mine.”
“Oh. Yeah. I was just testing you.” He stood up and put his arm around me.
“Right.” He started whispering in my ear.
“They never check celebrity’s bags. Not even Lindsey Lohan’s.” I snickered at that one. We passed through and got on the plane without a hitch. Soon, we were sitting together, and I was leaning on him with his arm around me. He started to hum ‘Saviour’, and I smiled he knew it was my favorite song. I soon fell asleep because of the way he made it into a lullaby.
