Will this ever work?

You have to decide.

That didn’t mean something good.
“Come.”
Andy took my hand and guided me to my room. Astonishing. He’s been here only for once during8 months of relationship but he still knew the way to my room. That made me smile even though I didn’t feel like smiling because he had sounded so worried. In my room he went to the window and looked outside.
Feeling unwell I stepped from one foot to another, waiting for him to say something.
“What is it, Andy? Say something. Anything. “
He lifted the head but still didn’t look at me.
“I can’t do this anymore, Victoria.”
I knew it. This was it. This was the end.
Tears impended and now I didn’t dare to look at him.
“It’s the age, isn’t it? “, I whispered.I’d never thought that Andy cared about the age difference of five years between us. I’ve never seen that as a problem.
He turned around.
“What?” he asked with shocked voice.“No! No, no, no … don’t get that wrong!” He came up to me, grabbed my shoulders. „Look at me, Victoria. “, he ordered. I obeyed.
God, this eyes would kill me someday.
„I’ve never, never, thought about leaving you, Victoria. I love you. You understand?”
A tear of relief ran down my cheek and I nodded. “Good.”, he said.
“Then what is it?” I wanted to know and my heart felt unbelievably light.
“It’s the distance.”, he answered immediately. “I can’t stand it anymore. You, living here, me living in Los Angeles. That won’t work any longer.”
I sighed. We’d already had that kind of conversation once and it had gotten totally out of hand. I really didn’t want to remember that argument I had with him four months ago.
“We’ve had that before.”
“I know.”
“So you’ve found a solution now?”
“Yes.”, he answered self-confident. “I want you to come with me. Today.”
I blinked. He obviously thought that I didn’t understand and gave me an encouraging smile which warmed up my heart. “I know you’ll need some time to think about it but … it would make so many things so much easier. “
I tried to search for the meaning behind his words but I couldn’t even breathe anymore. I wasn’t able to think about anything he had said. All I could do was staring into his blue eyes and wondering why I couldn’t just agree. Sure, I did understand his offer and I felt like a dream was coming true but my mind didn’t realize it. He still thought this was some kind of a joke.
“I … I …” I stuttered. He raised one eyebrow. (Yeah, he did this eyebrow-thing.) “I … can’t.”
He breathed out audible. “I … I’m sorry, Andy, you know I would love to come with you but I … I need time.”
He nodded and I thought he really understood me. He always did.
He hugged me firmly and I couldn’t hold back the tears anymore. Guess, it was all just too overwhelming. I couldn’t say how long we’ve been standing there like this. In some ridiculous approach of doubt I wondered how all of this had happened to me. Why did I have to meet him, 8 months ago? Why me? One word to explain it. Destiny.
“My flight goes tomorrow night.” he said suddenly and I bit my lower lip, knowing that I had to make a decision. Quickly.
“I’ll call you.” I asserted him.
“All right.”
Together, hand in hand, we went downstairs and for farewell he kissed me again. Tenderly I ran my tongue over the cool steel of his lip piercing, knowing that he loved it when I did that. He smiled. Knowing that my mother was watching us, I blushed.
“Tomorrow. Don’t forget it.”, he murmured, his face only inches away from mine.
“Never.”
For one last time he hugged me and then went to his Bentley which was standing at the street. I waved after him and waited until he disappeared behind the next corner.
All right. So now I had one day to make a decision that, and I was completely sure of that, would make me lose my family (or at least my parents) and change my entire life. Nothing would be like it was before, before I had met Andy. I would have to break off school. I would have to leave every person I’ve known here in New York behind only to live together with the one person I loved so much like I’ve never loved somebody before.
One day to decide. Well, thank you.
