Smoke and Mirrors

I can't believe River of all people would pull a gun at my little brothers birthday party. River and I had dated in high school. We used to dance together. Why did he want me? He is married and has a little baby boy.Was it because I was taken? River had always wanted what he couldn't have. Whether it was a girl or a toy. "Baby, calm down." Ashley says and hugs me from behind. I don't deserve him. He's more than I could ever ask for. He is perfect. And I never want to have to leave his side until death. I turn to face him and lay my head upon his chest. "Let's go check on the triplets." he whispers quietly so only I can hear. I lead him up the stairs to their nursery. Samantha is on one side of Jeffree and Ella is on the other. Both girls are on their stomachs, each holding one of Jeffree's hands. Little Jeffree is on his back hands clasped around his sisters'. A loud moan is heard and I roll my eyes. The older Jeffree and my little brother. I wonder who pitches?
