This Is The Story Of The Wild One.

A Night In The Life Of Max.

(July 16th, 2011.

I was just skating down the abandoned streets of New York on my skateboard at 4am in search of some plain walls I could tag.

Yup, I was one of those people who will graffiti empty playparks; I give highways a little bit of colour and I decorate the side of buildings in bright neon colours. I wouldn't call it vandalism.. More like street art because when you think about it, it's a kind of art. It takes alot of practise to be good at graffiti, not only do you have to be artistic and creative but you also need to be fast. Just get in there, paint, leave your tag and then get out. The longer you spend spraypainting the higher the risk of the cops finding you and that's never good.
Here in New York if you get caught doing any kind of 'vandalism' you'll spend the night in jail and get an hour lecture on how giving the dullest city in America a splash of colour is a crime.
I've spent at least 30 nights in jail for being caught, but that was a long time ago and I know better now.

I finally found an empty wall, right by the school I recently got kicked out of. I mean, what's wrong with giving the dinner hall wall a little bit of personality?
But that's another story for another time.

Within seconds of finding the wall I had stopped skating, opened up my draw string bag and picked out my blood red spraypaint. I popped off the lip and wrote my tag, 'The Wild One' in my messy large handwriting.
Almost everyone recognises my tag now since it's all over the city. My current goal is to get my tag all around the whole of Manhattan. I have already hit the north part of the city and right now I am working on the west. The hard part with this is the fact that the city's council tends covers up alot of the graffiti these days so that means I have to keep going around and re-fill any covered up walls.

The reason my tag is 'the wild one' is because around here I'm mostly known as the wild child. I do what I want, say what I want and dress how I want. I don't give 2 shits about how other people see me. Alot of adults say I'm a troubled teen and was raised badly, it's not the case though. Just because I smoke at the age of 15 doesn't mean I'm a bad kid. I don't even smoke alot! I go through about 5 packs a week, yet the people who say I smoke too much smoke about 5 packets a day!

Half way through doing my tag, which must of been about 3 seconds, I heard a police siren very close by so I very quickly finished my tag, picked up my bag, shoved the paint in there, hopped onto my skateboard and was out of there. When I looked behind I saw a police man chasing after me, crap. I forgot to look around to see if there was anyone around before I started painting.

I skated down a few allyways and took several short cuts, resulting me into losing the copper.
I continued to skate until I reached the familiar block of flats with a dent in the main door way and multiple boarded up windows. Home.
I got off my board and walked inside of the building. Once inside I made my way over to the elevator and pressed the button for level 8. The lift suddenly jerked up which caused my stomach to do a backflip.

When I was at the top and the elevator doors had opened, I walked out and went over to apartment 109. I got there and I opened up the graffitied door to be greeted by my dad who was in the living room watching an art documentary.
"Hey sweetie" He smiled.
"Hey dad." I grinned back, dumping all my stuff by the door and flopped onto the couch my dad was sitting at.
"Assuming since you're home the cops didn't come after you?" My dad joked.

He knew all about my graffiti and how I would go all over the city spray painting the walls at early hours in the morning. He didn't mind though, in fact he supports me doing it. He is really into art himself working for DC comics and all. Dad spends his days at home drawing out batman and has a monthly meeting at the DC HQ where he shows his drawings.
Cool right?

"Well not exactly, a copper caught me out at the end but he wasn't hard to get away from considering I was quite close to here." I lazily replied.
"Good, good." He said, "Oh by the way, I'm going to be out for a few hours in the morning so when you wake up and I'm not here I'll be out."
"But I thought you had your meeting at DC last week?" I asked, confused.
My dad never really left the house. I did all the shopping and stuff for him because he has to work very hard and for most of the day. It was only fair that I did it for him.

"Yeah... But I have stuff I need to take care of." He spoke with a very uneasy tone. I knew he wanted me to drop the conversation but I didn't, I liked knowing what's going on.
"What kinda stuff." I narrowed my eyes at him.
"Just stuff Max. When I come back I'll let you know where I've been okay?" He put a hand on my leg.
"Fine." I sighed.
"Good, now go to bed darling." He said tapping my leg.
"Ugh fine." I groaned, giving dad a quick side hug and then getting up and heading to my room.
"Love you!" I heard dad yell.
"Love you too!" I shouted back entering my room.

I flopped down onto the little mattress that sat in the corner of my room and dozed off, worrying about where my dad was going in the morning.
